"Using all of the lubricant in New Eden, the Gallente Navy managed to ram an Amarrian super carrier into their dock to symbolize a new era of friendship.
i have the smallest amount of knoledge about EvE but are all the vids of massive ship battles all people or just one guy controlin aload of ships against a few others controlling loads??
@tricolorbob1987 Each ship is controlled by a individual Human player. The question is when do such massive fleet battles occur. Most PvP combat in EVE is usually small and medium scale engagements.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 It means nothing, the only difference mass would make in space is how long it would take to slow/stop or how much energy would need to be expended during a change in course.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 Center of Mass only really matters on earth cause of Gravity, without Gravity you can basically do anything with the shape of your vehicle....atleast as i understand it...
@420zypherpn A car (or anything else) in space will still turn if you apply a force out of line with its center of mass. There is nothing special about gravity (or lack there of). It's just a force like any other.
Imagine a huge sphere that has one long pole sticking out of its surface. You stick a rocket to the end of the pole pointed parallel to the surface of the sphere (draw it if it helps). Will the sphere move forward or will it spin? What if the rocket were pointed TOWARD the sphere?
@SpazzyMcGee1337 i would think it would have to do with the direction the engines are pointed in? i think i understand where your comming from but i disagree in a way, hard to explain...
@420zypherpn The direction of the force the engines are applying to the object is just as important as important as where it is placed. Turn any thruster 90 degrees in any direction and instead of going straight the ship will just spin around in place.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 Ummm, why? In Space there is absolutely no need for objects in flight to be symmetrical (unless they need to enter atmosphere) or even remotely aerodynamic.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 Perhaps, however such an issue would be resolved very simply by distributing the force. Would make the engine arrangement as unusual as the ship design.
Let's just say that it is possible however there are design issues.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 Well, given your tenacity with which you cling to your argument I decided to do a little research.
Having looked through several technical papers everything from Google books to IEEE Library. I have found nothing to validate your claim, in all fairness I was unable to find a source supporting my beliefs either, however all the papers I was able to find involving the center of mass in spacecraft had only to do with the launch into orbit.
@KodaiX7 I have a BS in Physics. If you don't believe me, then push a plastic cup across a table very quickly from well above its center of mass and then inline with its center of mass and tell me which one causes it to tip over.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 Well since you are so highly educated in the matter, perhaps you can point me to a research paper on the subject so that I may educate myself.
As for a lesson on center of mass within atmosphere, that has absolutely no bearing on our discussion. Yes, within a planetary atmosphere the center of mass in relation to propulsion is very important.
Perhaps discussing the subject with one of your professors would settle the matter and if I am incorrect he should know where a source.
A) Physics doesn't stop working in space. In the cup experiment I suggested air resistance is insignificant.
B) Any college level Physics for Scientists and Engineers I textbook should teach you the basic concepts, like net force and torque. If you are feeling ballsy you can go straight to a Mechanics textbook. There is no "research paper" to cite because this is simple Newtonian mechanics.
@SpazzyMcGee1337 but I get your point... I can't be sure if, we have cube, for example, in space. and if you put an engine in the corner of the cube - I don't no if the cube would spin or go straight... damn... but since there is no resistance in space why would the cube spin?
@uranium993 Why wouldn't it? There would be a torque being applied to it thus it would spin. Air resistance has nothing to do with it. Air resistance does nothing more than slow objects down more and more as they increase in speed.
@uranium993 Why wouldn't it? There would be a torque being applied to it thus it would spin. Air resistance has nothing to do with it. Air resistance does nothing more than slow objects down more and more as they increase in speed.

@tattat44 Nope. Trust me. I'm a physicist. If an force is applied a non-zero distance from the center of mass perpendicular to the imaginary line connecting the center of mass and the point of application then the object's center of mass won't move, the object itself will just spin.
@Ischmac I heard that you can do this on SiSi, but there is a glitch where if your cyno on a station at the right distance and moment, you are glitched inside.
sweet jeezuz.... I know they may have rushed that thing into production and all that but would it have killed them to install the other half after ?? but then again if its complete it would look like that small amarrian industrial only bigger....
only reason it could be docked up is becuase this is via the sisi server or that he lost his Aeon due to a petitionable offence & got it reinbursed in station by ccp.
The ship is cool but for the love of god that music is so butt-rapingly awful. I had to turn my speakers off (because turning the sound off on a youtube video sets the default volume to 'off' if i open another youtube window without closing this one and that's damned irritating)
