@davebob65 Bob Wills (or someone in his family or band) wrote the song and recorded it first. Ray Price had a huge hit in 1957 of the song and many others recorded it.
@pastore0506 Sorry to tell you but I do not remember his full name. Bob calls him Lee on 2 occasions in the song. Maybe one of our hip on western swing listeners will know the full name.
@BABSINUK Barbara, LOLL!!! The vocalist is not Bob Wills but the voice you hear in the background (the one making the wisecracks) IS Bob Wills. That was Bob's thing at the time. He had several vocalists in the life of the Texas Playboys and (in my opinion) Tommy Duncan was the best. This vocalist was not Tommy Duncan.
@BABSINUK Bob's wisecracks and yahooing throughout the song was his schtick and all Bob Wills lovers learned to recognize him by that feature. There were literally dozens of western swing bands back in the 30s and 40s and many of them were very good, but Bob became the most recognized.
I can remember this music from when I was a little kid,a uncle of mine was the only one in the family who has a Grammofoon (pickup) with shellack records, that was fun !!
great song..wish connie smith and connie francis had sung it

Like BABSINUK, I assumed that Bob Wills was the singer, until I read the comments on the other video pages. I like this singer!
