  • I love LES MIZ!

  • I loved this cast, saw it in April 2009, amazing

  • Ah, well, must be nice to be a fangirl.

    :-)

  • Woman. You. Are. Amazing.

That is quite possibly the best compilation of 08/09 footage ever. AND YOU HAVE THE HUG! *favorites*

  • Love David Thaxton! :D

  • I saw this live in 2008. Absolutely loved the performance and fell in love with Les Miserables.

  • Just listening to this song make me burst out crying! I have loved Les Miserables since I was five, and I have a life long dream to play in it one day. Thank the Lord for Victor Hugo!

  • Loved this cast. Nancy Sullivan, Earl Carpenter... :D UGH. And this video is so EPIC.

  • Great video!!!!! I'm obsessed with Les Mis, and would love to see it for real someday - thanks so much for uploading!!!

  • Wow this is lovely thank you for putting it up :) when did the hug happen? I don't remember that when I saw it!

  • Thanks.

That's probably because you went this season and didn't see the 08/09 cast!? "The Hug" was part of "Drink With Me". It's actually still in there, but they're standing and the whole moment is overall... more subdued. The video of last year's "Drink With Me" is here on YouTube, too.

  • Yes I did go this season! Ohhh, I see. The show is so fast moving I probably missed it :( I don't remember that number very well. Thanks, I'll check it out some point ^-^

  • @LegsandJump : actually I like it better the way they are doing it now as it is - cough, cough - much more in character with the book. I love the way Martin Neely is doing Grantaire, btw. :-) I admit "The Hug" can kick a person's oxytocin-level, but the Enjolras of Hugo would never have done it.

  • @kemathenga But: This is a musical. It is not a literal play of the book. There are completely new situations. You can not recreate the scenes from the book. The entire relationship between Enjolras and Grantaire is different simply because of the libretto. I do prefer this year's version, overall, but in general, it's very hard to bring up the original characters from Hugo, considering you can only take all the background information from Hugo and put it in the new context that you're given.

  • @LegsandJump : Well, you've got a point there. All in all, I'm glad I know both versions, book relationship and musical, and are more intrigued by the book one. Just the other day we were discussing at home what Hugo - and also Tolkien - might think about the way this generation with all our new media interprete their works. The musical did make a lot pf people read the book, after all.

  • haha, good catch at 1.25...

  • YOU HAVE THE HUG!!!!!! YAY thank you!

    I loved this! Beautiful video!

  • where did you get all the video clips?

  • Loved your vid!!! and I loved the cast. Im so happy I was lucky enough to see the live. (not that I want to boast for those who didnt see them)

  • ... *builds a barricade* :) Such an awesome video. I would have loved to have seen this cast live.

  • Wow this is really good It'd make a geat trailey :D (is it'd a real word???)

  • Love it. Amazing video <3

  • aww. I will thank you, Mamselle, when our battle is won! (... what?!)
