Hahahaha right when the Blues go on the powerplay about 1:36 into the video, the announcer goes "You don't think-do you? Could they come back from a 5-0 deficit?" If that's not "calling them as they're seen" then I dunno what is
This is what happens when you get a team who has a huge lead and gets cocky (leafs) vs a team that when they start scoring and put their minds to it, can create an amazing 3rd period comback. I give leafs a lot of credit for scoring 5 goals on the greatest Blues team in history. RIP Pavol Demitra. RIP Igor Korolev
@lennycorps do u have a magnifying glass were u seen that? the ref was right there clearly on the line to have an up close personel look. u can hardly tell were the puck is in hockey. u have no idea if the puck was pushed ahead or not. all in all im not trying to start anything. some plays are hard to determine exspecially from our (the fans) point of view. it was a good game. great comeback. RIP Demitra, go Blues!!!
I decided to watch this in honor on Pavol Demitra, one of the all time Blues greats. Igor Korolev, who was also on the plane (Assistant Coach), was on the ice for the Leafs in this game. They both wore #38 for the blue note. RIP.
RIP DEMITRA! You wore that Blue Note with pride, can't say the same about some current NHLers who play for themselves instead of the crest on the front...LETS GO BLUES!
Wow what a comeback! Carolina may have had a better one in 2009, game 7 vs NJ... Wasn't a comeback from a huge deficit, but 2 goals in 51 seconds, in the last couple minutes of the game and won the series!
"...you dont think...do you? no. could you come back from a 5-0 deficit in the 3rd period?" :-D when you said that during the game, i thought...hmm...maybe! and yup!
you said that was the best comeback ever in your decription its NOT. Check out the LA Kings miracle on manchester comeback. That is a better comeback because it is fighting for a playoff spot.
@MrDrob08 I know, in fact, this video is a video response to the miracle on manchester. I was just going strictly by the amount of time left in the game when the first goal was scored. there was 15:44 remaining when the Kings scored their first goal, there was only 15:10 remaining when the blues scored their first goal.
Maybe someone has mentioned this but the Avalanche came from 5-0 to 7-5 (no EN goal) in the last 24 minutes (6 goals in the 3rd period) against the Panthers once.
That was HELLA KEWL!!! The only other Awesome come back that I've seen in Hockey was when The SJ Sharks beat the LA Kings after losing to them the night before this past April. I love the Blues & I love the Sharks!!!
@Fizbin32111 You're a dumbass to bring up the canucks in a video not even related to them, you're probably a band wagonner so shut the fuck up, troll.
@1515DC if the puck is on the blue line u can be over it its only offside if the puck is on the other side of that line. the refs arnt going to call something that close to stop a play.
@wakebrd033 Sorry guys, 1515DC was right. It was offside. The blue line is considered to be a part of the zone that the puck is coming FROM. When entering the offensive zone, you have to put the puck all the way over the line before anyone can go in. Pausing at 3:54 shows that Demitra still had the puck on the line, and Handzus was well across it. I knew it back then, and it's still in the NHL rule book now. At any rate, RIP #38, and LETS GO BLUES!!
@skapunkteddybear because Marc Bergevin threw the puck into his own net, Owen Nolan scored from center ice, and last but not least, Roman Turek was asleep between the pipes.
Whenever you you search for superlates such as the greatest comeback or the longest shot it's always made possible due to the leafs suckage of which they are in great supply.
I saw this happen in a pewwe game almost... 1 team was down 6-1 and they scored like 4 goals... but then the other team scored again so it was kinda over
i was 21 years old, driving around, flipped the game on the radio and it was 5-0. so i flipped it to the point and didn't think much more about it. until i heard somebody say that the blues won tonight. i thought "well they're misinformed, it was 5-0 in the third, last i heard". got home, saw the bottom line on espn. st.louis 6, toronto 5. thankfully, fox sports midwest replayed all the games late at night and i had a vhs tape. i will keep my vhs player forever because of this game.
Would have been funny if this game were played in St. Louis. Just think of all the people who would have gone home... then they check the score on TV later... " 5-5 ! " , then they would suicide.
@AquaGiant, I listened to that game on the radio and thought they were finished when they were behind 3 nothing but I was so glad that they came back and won 5-4
One correction to the storyline...the Kings and Oilers were tied 1-1 after 2 games in that 1982 SC 1st round series. Kings won game one 10-8 in Edmonton and the Oilers won game 2.
Blues will be hated on no matter what bc they are stuff with the Midwest media market and aren't loved on my ESPN. Anyways they will win it all this year. Go Blues!
not even close to the greatest comeback. In 89 the Flames trailed Quebec 8-3 with just over 6 mins left and they tied it up including two shortys 4 sec apart in the final 15 seconds.
The Miracle on Manchester was much more impressive because it was against Gretzky and was during the playoffs. And the Oilers were trailing the Kings 5-0 into the third period. How is this better?
no wonder this team was coached by joel quenneville, they're scrappy as hell, just like the hawks were this year. coach q = badass, especially with that mustache haha
Hmmmm, I dunno. I think "Leafs @ Sabres, March 23, 2007" gives this one a run for it's money. And yeah, it's the Leafs getting violated, just like this video!

When we finally did have the ball rolling, that douche nozzle keenan screwed us. Two middle fingers and a big F YOU keenan.
@KashiwaDaisuke nah man the blues fans are hardcore. We are in a rebuilding period. We have lots.....i mean lots of young talent. Trust me John Davidson will bring st. louis our first cup i can sense it. He's got hockey sense, something our organization has needed for a loooong time. I can remember as a kid in the old arena we would kick the shit out of chicago fans in the stands lol. Those games got brutal and it was awesome. BEEELFOUR, BEEELFOUR, BEEEELFOUR haha classic.

Refs should of at least considered reviewing it again...
Not only is this a testament to the spirit and competitiveness of the Blues in the 90s, but also a testament to how much Toronto sucks... always... :)
@CatchyNameGoesHere - Then how come the Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cups and the Blues have won ZERO!!! Mr. Toronto sucks "Always"...EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD TIM HORTON AND WON THE STANLEY CUP THE YEAR THEY BROKE IN THE NHL! -_-
@Inc4ns But they haven't won since 1967 and they all came when there were only 6 teams in the league........Your argument, to say the least, is retarded.
@Inc4ns I change my statement to "toronto sucks almost always and certainly recently except for short 5yra few periods and some luck a couple other times" :)
@CookieMMMonster - The point i was trying to make is that the Leafs don't suck "ALWAYS", including their 13 cups...not that the Leafs are better because they won more Stanley Cups than the Blues...
@Inc4ns Most of the cups the Leafs won was from a 6 team league. Dont compare teams to their past history, all the players are different. Im not a fan of the Blues but i hate it when people compare teams saying they are better with more cups when they have trouble getting into the playoffs in the present.
@Inc4ns Because the Leafs played like 50 more seasons than the Blues, most of those in a 6 team league... It would be embarassing if they DIDN'T have at least 10 cups, no? ;)
A comeback against Toronto is no big feat. The Blues were just playing terrible to allow Toronto those 5 goals and decided to play like they were able late in the game. This could've easily been a blowout for St. Louis.
Damn I miss Ken Wilson as our announcer. I like the ones we have now (Kelly and Panger) but Wilson was just great.

6 goals against in 15:28 -- sounds like a Leafs loss to me!
sketchguy2006 1 year ago
Why do the Leafs always have to be the victims in these kinds of historic comebacks D:

Not only is this a testament to the spirit and competitiveness of the Blues in the 90s, but also a testament to how much Toronto sucks... always... :)
CatchyNameGoesHere 1 year ago
@CatchyNameGoesHere - Then how come the Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cups and the Blues have won ZERO!!! Mr. Toronto sucks "Always"...EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD TIM HORTON AND WON THE STANLEY CUP THE YEAR THEY BROKE IN THE NHL! -_-

you mad
Kreege 1 year ago 10
@Inc4ns But they haven't won since 1967 and they all came when there were only 6 teams in the league........Your argument, to say the least, is retarded.
justrun62689 1 year ago
@justrun62689 at least the leafs have like the 2nd most stanley cups in nhl history nd the blues have a terrible goal horn and have no cups
agnt13 1 year ago
@agnt13 well its not r falt the leafs blow and have no team
SuperNightmare55 1 year ago
@Inc4ns I change my statement to "toronto sucks almost always and certainly recently except for short 5yra few periods and some luck a couple other times" :)
CatchyNameGoesHere 1 year ago
@Inc4ns leafs last won the cup in 1967. which was BEFORE the blues even existed.
BTW by your standards, the Habs must be the best team based on their 24 cups?
CookieMMMonster 1 year ago
@CookieMMMonster - The point i was trying to make is that the Leafs don't suck "ALWAYS", including their 13 cups...not that the Leafs are better because they won more Stanley Cups than the Blues...
Inc4ns 1 year ago
@Inc4ns And all pre-expansion. Your argument is weak.

@Inc4ns Most of the cups the Leafs won was from a 6 team league. Dont compare teams to their past history, all the players are different. Im not a fan of the Blues but i hate it when people compare teams saying they are better with more cups when they have trouble getting into the playoffs in the present.
MentalSniper 1 year ago
@Inc4ns You haven't won since St. Louis came into the league. You both suck equally.
tjd92295 1 year ago
@Inc4ns Because the Leafs played like 50 more seasons than the Blues, most of those in a 6 team league... It would be embarassing if they DIDN'T have at least 10 cups, no? ;)

sick comeback!
TthemanJ 1 year ago
A comeback against Toronto is no big feat. The Blues were just playing terrible to allow Toronto those 5 goals and decided to play like they were able late in the game. This could've easily been a blowout for St. Louis.
