Actually they did say in the orginial series who created KITT. In Knight of Phoenix. You can hear Devon say to Michael that KITT was designed and built by Wilton Knight. He didn't actually do the labor but it was his blue prints that the worker's followed under the watchful eyes of Devon. So this whole series is a waste. Even though i love the car
