it's great but it sucks for me because my server is wired and my phone is not..

it would be great if i could control my server (which is wired to my modem) trough wifi (or the more expensive 3g). For the rest it's cool for controlling my home pc (which has the standard 192.168 blabla settings) because it's connected to the same network as the phone is.

vlc remote is easier to set up, for free and works better imo as far as you only want to use it for media Id suggest to give vlc remote a try instead of torturing yourself with gmote

This seams to play the music on the computer through it's own player. Is this correct. I would like to play the music with winamp or media player. Unless I just don't know what I'm doing. I would like to use this at my parties. I hook the computer to the 46 inch screen in our living room and run our music through the house.

This actually works better than it looks in the video (no disrespect poster) hey it's free anyway so why not try it? I use it to run movies from my PC in the backroom onto my main LCD tv in the lounge, it does it all, volume, pause, play, ff,rw etc and I can browse the web using the G1 keyboard to type directly into the browser, truly brilliant app, even better than my Media Centre remote which now lays gathering dust

Hi, I have my 2nd Nvidia port wired to my tv (cloneview) under the floorboards, through the wall and up behind the fireplace in the lounge, I can use the TV as a 2nd display and Gmote to control my pc, it's great. Just needed a long VGA cable (good enough for me, though you could use HDMI) and a 3mm stereo jack to 3mm stereo jack for audio (because Gmote controls volume too)

by far one of the most useful apps on the g1,if apple has a similar one, they dont have a keyboard thats 4 sure. gmote allows your g1 to completely control your phone, even send the music to the g1 while you're in the kitchen or shower!

if you are using XP then you should choose on the phone "manually enter IP" and enter the IP address of the PC you want to control.

in windows firewall you should create and exception for the TCP port# listed under the IP on the phone.

this is what I had to do.

So you know, it was updated. It now controls your web too. Meaning, whatever you type, and go to, it will show up on your PC/Laptop. For me, there was no lag with the mouse, not even when I was a story up, in the farthest room in the house. Overall, it's a great application, and worth downloading. It works for any type of PC. Since you can control your mouse, you can control iTunes, and anything, for those who want to know. You can left/right click/drag&drop.Instructions provided when downloaded

So you guys know, this program was updated. It now has a beta version to browse the internet on your computer, also, to play videos on your phone, streamed from the computer. They are both Betas of course. Furthermore, it does work for Linux, for those who care

It's only media for now, but it's clear eventually the replacement of a bunch of remote controls will have entended WiFi co-ordination.
