  • Hollywood, that great maker of myths, taught the wealthy what to think about the working class and the working class what to think about itself.

  • @musicalidea that is an excellent statement. mind if i borrow it?

  • Beautiful opening to a fascinating film. Gore Vidal's explanation of Ben-Hur is one of the highlights of documentary filmdom!

  • as a gay man, i'll be the first to admit that 2:08 is an unforgettable image...(hooting, cat calling)

  • i think it would be great if they did a follow up doc to this film and talk to the same people and find out how things may have or may have not changed for them or for the movies.

  • @outofnames0 I agree

  • @missmabel Yes, and I'd so much like to see if they showed other countries's films too. In my opinion, a lot is the same (as for germany, for example), but a lot is not. I 'd find that very interesting.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! I don't care for the documenraty itself, but find this intro sequence wonderful.

  • @Dosdo Just curious... why don't you care for it?

  • @bearchewtoy75 Don't remember all that well, as I've seen it only once quite a time ago. Something about it touching only on the USA gay cinema history, and being way pompous, and, aside from the intro sequence, exclusively depressing.

  • @Dosdo hehehe well... most Film Historians are pompus! :)

  • We've come so far even since this documentary was released. Now we commonly have openly gay characters on TV shows and in movies and that's not even the focus of the subject matter. Speed bumps and hiccups are to be expected but the world is changing...for the better.

  • If God had wanted everyone the same, He would have made us the same, as my Dad taught me. We`are not hardly a minority either. Twenty percent of the worlds population is gay, that was proven by Masters & Johnson's polls taken in the late Forties. That is SIXTY MILLION voters and tax payers in the USA alone today. So called haters are merely shooting themselves in the foot! This film in it's entirety should be required viewing in all high schools.

  • @Mrtriumphchopper You have no fucking clue what you are talking about, being a faggot is NOT normal it is a sickness. if you want to lie to yourself then go ahead ,but do not try and bullshit the rest. being a fag is NOT good. Every faggot friend I ever had was selfish, a liar, a sex fiend, a degenerate, and did everything he could to prmote only HIS agenda while putting down straight white males. Faggots are degenerates pure and simple, they are not cool people.

  • @patrickbad You sad unhappy freak.

I see you still felt the need to not only find & watch this clip but take the time to to spew out your bile.

You need to sort out your own issues, though it will take a lot of time!

    Get well soon.

  • @patrickbad

    Patrickbad...more like PATRICKSAD!

  • Wasn't John Wayne a faggot?

  • Just so you know, calling a gay guy a faggot is similar to calling a black man a nigger.

  • I just finished watching this movie for the second time today in school. I absolutely love this theme. :)

  • Do you know the title of the soundtrack for the film?

    Thanks!

  • It's a great film.

  • I have to agree the score throughout this wonderful fil is so powerful I enjoy listen to it often. Very powerful words spoken by Lilly Tomlin as well.....

  • :D teehee
