I really appreciate this song- my husband and I get into serious debates. He feels we are human and there should not be this color thing. I really and truly believe that as well, we are all human and created by our creator, but he made us with different skin tones- why should I not be proud of my black skin especially when society has always taught me that my blackness is a curse- tried to teach me-for me I am proud to be a black woman and have learned to embrace myself.
@Liyahbeat Not sure if I ever responded .. BUT! I will have some shirst very soon and will update u as soon as i do ... thanks Holla at me on twitter @supanovanro Peace
Great song, we need more of this type of talent and much less of the b.s. ringtone music that's now maintstream. The only thing I disagreed with was the hipocrisy when she said, "I love you just the way you are/ to the tight jeans and WEAVES"...then to later say, "Don't you ever turn your back on the black in you". Minus that, again GREAT SONG
sorry for the mad delayed response but girls with tight jeans and weaves are just as black as all the dreads and natural black sisters. i can't declare someone black enough, it would be unproductive for me to dismiss any type of black woman. but i appreciate your opinion.
Hey sistah! Skin bleaching & hair straighteninig contradict "loving you just the way you are". That's what I was trying to say. It's something that most of our people give very little or no thought to because its somewhat become the culture but research its origin & you'll see that it goes against the theme of the song.
Black Girl will be feat. in The Ny International Film N Video Festival March 1st!!!!!! 10pm Everyone who was involved in this making of this song and video I would love to see you guys there!! PEACE
you came to my college (stony brook) last month, and performed this for black womyn's weekend and i really enjoyed it. do you have a myspace page?...b/c i couldn't find a music page for you and i wanted to put this song on my page!
great song. That's how i love my black brothers... sensible and respectful to their sisters. Now thyat's the kind of music we need to hear on the radio, that's the kind of videos that need to be showed on tv... instead of those reality shoes or music videos degrading black women. Stay empowered sisters and keep doing your thing brov.
It's sad how Black men calling Black women bitches, hoes, gets 1 million views and positive ratings but when a REAL Black man talks positive on Black women noone shows love.I guess people don't want Black men to love Black women but TO BAD.Thanks for the positive TRUTH you speak.
lol well it didnt make me cry but im feelin the homie for showing the overdue respect to our sistas. another good song that is similar in content is Talib Kweli's, Black Girl Pain. check it out.
I love this so much. You are the reason I do what I do in the movement. We should be uplifting artist like this. Not thugs and men that disrespect black women. Thank you so much!
I sent out a bulletin of this video on myspace. I hail you up in the highest Spirit of Love. One sister said she'd prefer to be called an "African Woman" and I sent out another bulliten saying to show you Love any way just for giving the Black female displayed Respect. Continue to spread this message. Love Yourself and Love your people. L.E.G.A.C.Y. myspace/legacythealbum
Saw a link on Okayplayer and had to check it out. Great song. Very positive message. Props to Supanova, TreZure and the director for keeping things real and, more importantly, RIGHT.
What's bugging me out is the videos on the right side that get linked to this because of the title. We need to resurrect the true spirit of Black Womanhood, cuz ... yeah, y'all know already.
I love this video ... Im so happy to hear positive music ... expecially when I was able to hear this man musically grow up ... its a beautifull thing :)
Photograph styling is sooooo dope!!!! The songstress definetly was blowing, too! Everyone needs to hear these words and see these visuals!!! Proud to be a BLACK GIRL!!!
Love this video. SuperNova & TreZure are doing big things and speaking loudly.
