  • Wonderful....! ♥

  • Marianne Faithfull recorded this song for her new album: Horses and High Heels

  • Marianne Faithfull has a version of this song on her new CD Horses & High Heels

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • RIP Lesley......

  • Don't like the Elton John version, too predictably 'histrionic' over polished, erstaz and overblown for my taste. This is the true work, revealing it's hand slowly, with patience and the real knowledge of the human condition. 'Nuff said.

  • Purely lovely and simply profound.

  • such a wonderful song. and she does it beautifully - though i have to say, i also adore the slightly cheesy version by olivia newton-john very much as well....and the terribly cheesy one by johnny harris ;)

  • Adorable. What a beautiful voice.

'Gather in the Mushrooms' is a truly wonderful compilation.

  • Such an evocative and tender song, another lovely memory.

  • I'd only ever heard the very rare David Bowie/Feathers cover of this before, but the original is just as beautiful as the one I've known and loved.

  • Fireman Oly ... you opinion is a very good one. I used to be a volunteer firefighter, here in wonderful Western Australia. Best wishes to you ... this is truly a very lovely song ... I'm sorry that Lesley is no longer with us ... she was a very beautiful person...

  • brilliance

  • I have the intro to this song set as my text tone. The whistling brightens up that moment of my life and the song brightens up my day.

  • What a lovely version! When is this from? This is different from the version on her Sing Children Sing album.

  • So Touching .Rest now, and many thanks. betty

  • Its true..you wont hear a sonmg this real on commercial radio anymore.

  • Seems we need this as we destroy our planet....

  • Elton John was given a true gem of a song with this. In my opinion he took it and polished it a bit but both versions are great. I feel this one is a bit too fast and the whistling and voices distract a little bit, but hey, I have never written something so beautiful as this so it is only my opinion for whatever it is worth. not much LOL!

  • oh goodness, the original is so much better than E John's

  • the Olivia Newton-John version is nice also

  • With all due respect , I'll be honest with you, Elton John breathed life into this song. I listened to both renditions and they're similar but the arrangement by Elton John surpasses Lesley Duncan's. I realize that she wrote the song and it's noteworthy, but still Elton John hit a common cord. I understand that the dear lady passed away and her work will be her legacy for years to come. RIP.

  • @Rickyrinconmoviestar i totally agree mate ej put life into it but superb song

  • A truly beautiful song and wonderful lady.

    R.I.P

  • RIP

  • RIP.

  • I happen to know that Big Hugh from Mundlimup also loves this song ... and Wee Col from Jarrahdale ...

  • Elton John recorded a very beautiful version of this classic. Love to one and all from Jarrahnut (Colin) in wonderful Western Australia.

  • What was the cause of Lesley's death?

  • @Jarrahnut Hi there she died from cerebrovascular disease which she was battling for five years. God Bless her, may she rest in peace... :(

  • @seanbl1 ...than you Sean ... just listening to it again and again ... it's a lovely song ... love is the key ...

  • Your welcome Jarrahnut...Yes it's a beautiful song and she has a beautiful voice. Love is indeed the key :)

  • What a lovely song ... jeez ... such beautiful memories ...

  • Lesley had heart problems for some years. Not sure what the actual problems are though.

  • A great voice missed. I discovered her thanx to her guesting as lead vocal on "If I could change your mind" by The Alan Parsons Project.

  • I'm almost crying now. I can't understand why she wasn't well known, she had such a great voice. And yesterday, she died. I can't believe it. And I wasn't interested in her music when she was alive... It is so sad, so sad....

  • Never mind, its not too late to catch up with this lovely ladys' beautiful music now, and celebrate her contribution to British music. Happy listening!

  • I know you're right but still... I wasn't interested in her music at all when she was alive. And it's the first time, I don't know why it is always happening to me. I always start listening to some artist when she/he is dead.

  • * it's NOT the first time

I wonder why I can't write this comment with no mistakes, lol.

  • @EtoileLituanienne I am totally crushed by this news. The lady that wrote my favorite song is gone. I have always loved her collaboration with EJ and that was my favorite heartfelt song of all time. I'm playing this over and over as I type this. Death is so awful for those of us left behind.

Do you know what I mean? Have your eyes really seen?

  • I'm very sorry. :(

  • Sublime song by an underappreciated writer and singer.

    Lesley Duncan touches the timeless.

  • cool and beautiful song and she had a great voive to....

shale that she 's dissapeared from the muzsic scene

  • Awesome!

  • The beauty some people can get out of a few chords and some simple words is truly astounding...

  • nice song

i like acoustic ballads if they're "sincere" simple and not too cheesy

  • a simple great love song

  • so glad i hear this song in its original creation

  • Wonderful!

  • wonderful song.
