  • omfg!! this melody and song is stolen from a famous Traditional Tigray Ethiopian singer- Kiros Alemayehu!!!!!!!!! This person used Eritrea instead in it!!

  • @mikeyshypnotic You dream too much, nobody car and know Kiros Alemayehu in Eritrea, we have our own songs.

  • @EritreanKing007

So, Tigrinya = 55%...they are on both sides of border. Tigre = 30% are only on Eri side but they are incredibly similar to Tigrinya with looks & language, so 55% + 30% = 85% of Eri automatically is either the same or very identical to Ethio.

Then you add the Kunama, Saho & Afar who live on both sides of border. That makes around 92% of Eri = Ethio.

Then U have 2 remember Bilen, Nara & Jeberti ppl migrated to Eri from Ethio, so in total, that comes to around 96% of Eri = Ethio

  • @EriPages U make a big mistake, Tigre has nothing to do with Ethiopia. Ethnically, culturally....So it's mean your 90% - 30% = 60% of Eri=Ethio

  • @EritreanKing007

I'm not trying to insult you but you're really not comprehending what you're reading. I never said Tigre=Ethio, I said Tigre is "incredibly similar to Tigrinya with looks & language". So that means Tigre are "incredibly similar" to Ethio, doesn't mean they "=Ethio", just "incredibily similar" since Tigrinya are on both sides of the border.

Even if you ignore Tigre, it's still more than 60% Eri=Ethio, cuz 55% is Tigrinya + Kunama,Afar,Saho,Bilen,Jeberti,Nara=66%-69% Eri= Ethio

  • @EritreanKing007

Bottom line is we need to remember who divided and conquered us, it was the Europeans who divided us then conquered us in 1889.

We shouldn't hate each other, instead focus on our commonalities. The current EPRDF-PFDJ politics is making many of us Eris/Ethios irrational and the previous DERG government is a major cause of the current problem.

DERG killed over 1.5 million Ethiopians, most of the 1.5 million Ethiopians killed were Tigray/Kebessa (Eri)/Amhara peoples...so sad

  • @EriPages You seem that you want to be Unite Eritrea with Ethiopia, you could ask an Ethio passport. But Eritreans asked their independece since the 40's before Haileselassie and Derg. Long live independent Eritrea without external interference.

  • @EritreanKing007

Lol, I know why you think my blood might be mixed with origins south of the Mereb river...but to set the record straight, both my parent's families are originally from Kebessa (Hamasien province) so I'm pretty sure I have no mixed blood with any group outside of my province.

Also, a year ago I use to be exactly like you...I'm not exaggerating, I probably was even more anti-Ethio but after unbias research, I've learned Ethios are my bro/sis. Screw DERG/EPRDF

  • @EritreanKing007

With that said, let me address the 1940s...the British wanted to annex Eri to their Sudanese colony...Eris didnt want that

Majority of Eris voted two times for -unconditional- union with Ethiopia (something I never knew until unbias research)

Also, I spoke with my grandfather on my mom's side & some of his friends who lived in Eri during that time about their opinion...they all agree that union was best but DERG illegally overthrew government & killed Eri/Ethio thats y we left

  • @EritreanKing007

    In my opinion though,

I would have preferred EPLF to have stayed in Addis Ababa in 1991 & form the government with the TPLF/OPDM...that way the 1998 war would have never happened (which killed over 100k people & created much hate)...Ethiopia would have been strong not just because of unity of people but also because EPLF would have brought their excellent economic & foreign policies to ALL of Ethiopia.

EPLF in Addis from 1991 would make all Ethio(+ Eri) unstoppable in 2011

  • SIX DECADES OF THE SAME WAR?

"From the point of view of justice, the opinions of the Eritrean people must receive consideration.Nevertheless, the strategic interests of the US in the Red Sea Basin and considerations of security and world peace make it necessary that Eritrea be linked with our ally, Ethiopia".

    John F. Dulles,

    US State Secretary

AT THE INSISTENCE OF THE US, In Dec. 2,1950, the UN voted 46 to 10 to federate Eritrea with Ethiopia, against Eritreans demand for independence.

  • @EriPages You seem to be eritrean with ethiopian ( Tigrayan or Amhara, Oromo) origines right?

  • Such beautiful christian girls wit beautiful crosses around their necks i swear mariamen, good music keep it up

  • What does the song mean?

  • yes my brothers and sisters sing and praise to RA / RAIT , NYAME / NYAMEWAA,

ODOMANKOMA, OLODUMARE, ORISA, VODUN, ABOSOM, EGUNGUN, ANCESTORS,

    IBA O

  • what is the difference between Eritrean Tigrigna speakers and Ethiopian Tigrigna speakers?

  • @alexbelay It's like Somali from Kenya " Wajir" and Somali from Hargeisa "Isaaq".

  • @EritreanKing007

Eri/Ethio Tigrinya speakers are exactly the same people

If you want to desperately differentiate them based on some incredibly minor dialectal forms to substantiate Eritrea's existence, then you're going to not only lose the argument of Eritrean/Ethiopian Tigrinya speakers being different but also weaken the justification for an Eritrean state.

Hamasien/Akele/Seraye have dialectical differences...so are they now different tribes from each other? Hamasien=Akele=Tigray=Seraye.

  • @EriPages We are not the same, even we speak the same language.

  • @EritreanKing007

    You`re living in denial.

I`m Eritrean (both parents) but I don`t need to be anti-Ethiopian to be Eritrean.

Kunuma of Eri = Kunama of Ethio, Saho of Eri = saho of Ethio, Tigrinya of Eri = Tigrinya of Ethio, Afar of Eri = Afar of Ethio

Those 4 ethnic groups by themselves are already 65% of Eri population being exactly the same as Ethiopia. Tigre of Eri are similar to Tigrinya & are 30% of Eri population, so if you include them, that's 95% (65% + 30%) of Eri being same as Ethio

  • @EritreanKing007

Also, the Bilen people in Eritrea are relatively recent Agew migrants from the central/western area of Ethiopia.

In addition to that, the so-called "Jeberti" in Eritrea (aka Tigrinya speaking muslims) came to Eritrea from Ethiopia during the 1870s.

With all this knowledge, only a fool would still say Eritreans are completely different from Ethiopians. We are approximately 97% (including Bilen) the same people.

Don't mix current politics with our historical identities.

  • @EriPages But you forgot one thing, Hadareeb, BaniAmir, Habab, Marya, Nara, Saho, Dahlik, dont have any ethiopian blood or link, and they represent 45% of Eritrean ppl.

  • @EritreanKing007

Do you comprehend what you read? Eri Saho = Ethio Saho. They are on both sides of the border.

Also, the other groups you mentioned aren't even CLOSE to 45%...more like 4%.

Read my last two comments again, you didn't comprehend it.

According to the July 2011 statistics that Eri government approved by CIA WorldFact book website, the demographics of eri tribes are like this:

55% = Tigrinya, 30% Tigre, and the remaining 12 or so tribe are like 1 or 2% each.

  • too bad the president doesn't do anything for the country

  • Eritrea is Ethiopia

  • @wodajoseni dunt get it twisted , ethiopia is eritrea

  • @lulaeritrean

This video has nothing to do with Ethiopia. Eritrea has no relations with Ethiopia.

This is your first and last warning before I get Mel Gibson on your soft ass.

  • @IsaiasAfewerki Eritrea has nothing to do with Ethiopia? Let's be honest, Ethiopians have relations with Eritreans and Eritreans have relations with Ethiopians. The important thing is that we respect our differences and embrace our similarities. Love one another, after all we are brothers and sisters.

  • @IsaiasAfewerki:

Eritrea and Ethiopia may be politically separate countries in the modern day, but they share a common heritage as descendents of ancient Abyssinia. This is obvious just by looking at the similarities between the cultures.

  • Eritrea is Ethiopia

  • Space thank you for uploading this. It is great tradtion, music and noble lyrics. You are doing a very fine job exposing and sharing the beautiful culture and tradtion of Eritrea. I'm sure u don't let anyone unnerve u by their negativity. I don't understand why some ppl just want to lamp one ppl with the other. All african ppl don't have to be the same in outward appearance or otherwise. Asian ppl of different countries have some similiarties and some differences which is a blessing.

  • Spaceketema thank you for bringing the flaver of back home.Don't ever stop God bless you.

  • asna0701,nobody is posined.what is this? And please you must look first in history.Only the greedy savage ethiopans are the problem.Colony time is over long time ago, worser than colony is when 1 african country hits another african country to gain 'power' and to please their masters! So stop this shit 1 country africa, you sound like haileselasi!Ethiopians are the problem, only fighting but not feeding there own ppl!

  • As long as ethiopians don't change their minds, which won't be the case as usual(look into history) there is no hope for freedom! My ppl didnt forget how ethiopians betrayed them when italians were in the horn,no way! They didnt forget how ethiopians betrayed them with americans, britsh and so on after WWII until now you are the same savage ppl. ethiopians are liars, betrayers that is a fact not poisned! You dream about countries which is not yours!Every elder will tell you that, its not poisned!

  • I love Eritrea man....it's a country of PROUD.......everything about it

  • Ethiolve, Only proud Ethiopians of your friendly heart know how to love others.

Eritreans cherish great friendly Ethiopians like you. Right on, brother!!!

  • tnx bro

  • so, basically you guys think african americans aren't proud that of their african heritage?? Cause I'm african american, and even though I've never been to africa, I still proud that I am African american however; their are a lot of african americans who are not so proud I even know a few who don't want to be called african american, just american, but that's them, and I'm not like that

  • Kmeliz21, It takes strong back ground, self esteem & confidence to feel good about your heritage. I admire your pride in your heritage. Africans take pride in the struggle of African-Americans, who paid heavy price to liberate themselves and make America a better place to live. With out the heavy sacrifices of African Americans, many Africans would never had the opportunity to live in USA.

Africans appreciate the struggle of African Americans.

PS: Some bad apples don't represent neither of us.

  • Thnxs! I admire Africans too, because they also fought for liberation!! I'm very proud of my connection to Africa, and even though I've never been to Africa I still have an appreciation for the motherland, and you would think that people in living in the south in the states would be proud of where they come from, but a lot are not well at least in Mississippi! I'm just glad my parents taught me about my heritage! Education is the cure to ignorance Thnxs! Peace & love!

  • Love Eritrea!!! Love Arica in all it's diversity!!!

    New World African

  • Very good !

  • me? no, what can I say, well you are the experts. So I must agree, right?

  • @spaceketema For your information Tthat slavery was not from our region it was from other part of Africa. the so called African-Amrican (stuff) deosn't apply on us.

  • Plz no we don't look like african-american but only to Africans. Eritrean are a proud Africans, it's not like you always denying your african ancestry.

  • Sorry then. What about ethiopians, you do look like them, right?

  • Ethiopia belong to Africa right???? yes, so don't need to write more.!!!

  • dont love the world habesh, thats a big mistake.

who love the world is versus god, so dont love the world or africa and so on. love god bro

  • love it.

  • Beautiful Africa.

  • Africa is the most beautiful continent in the world which has contributed to invensions and development of humanity greater than the west but devastated by colonialism of the west which have exploited all the mineral resources and left the people to misery.

  • aberashki is woyanes kadre and preeching all over the Eritreans vidio clip. Don't be confuse by this kind of kadre/lemani agame.

  • I love eritrean women, more than ethiopian ;)

  • Beautyful culture, so proud to Eritrean and African.

  • I think that the one thing that strikes me most about East African music in general, whether Amhar, Tigranya or whatever, is the sheer joy of being alive and of having a cultural tradition to keep alive.

Hard not to have fun watching these ladies dancing.

  • Habeshats is where some semitic speaking people get their name of Habehsa from. When the Arabs invaded Eritrea's coasts and pushed the Habeshats inwards, they refered to them as "Habesh" or mixed people. It is from this term that some ethnic groups of Eritrea got HABESHA from.

  • squeky i got alot of respect for you, bro. Keep educating those who think they know!

  • Amazing! The Krar seen here, is almost IDENTICAL to the replica ancient Jewish Kinnor which I play on my own Youtube Channel...I now want to put some humbuckers on MINE!!;o)

  • Krar is a musical instrument used mainly in Habesha tribe(dominant tribe in Eritrean & Ethiopia). The tribe is known to be migrated from Southern-Arabia(today's Yemen) some time around 1000 BC.

There may be Jewish connection to Krar due to the fact that Jewish religion was dominant before Christianinty came to the region around 4 AD.

  • eskinder, there's no such thing as Habesha tribe. If you mean by Semitic speaking people, then yes, Eritrea has 5 semitic speaking Ethnic groups. They are Tigre, Tigrinya, Arabic (Rashaida), Elite and Dahliik. In Ethiopia, Amharic is a cluster of mainly Cushtic with a minority of Geez and NOT a direct decendent, like Tigrinya or its closest, purest form of Geez still being spoken of Tigre.

  • Furthermore, before the Habeshat and Ageazians (Yemeni Sabean settlers) moved onto the coasts of Eritrea in 700-800 B.C. & later through out the rest of Eritrea, there was another group who lived on both Eritrea and Yemeni coast. In that first group, they were of African-Arabian in culture and they lived on the highlands of Eritrea in the late second millennium BC. They also were directly in contact with ancient Egypt through the Red Sea maritime. These people are thought to be indigenous.

  • It is thought from that first group of indigenous African-Arabian groups of people who lived on the highlands of Eritrea and Yemeni coastlands where we get most of our cultures and not the Yemeni Sabean (Habeshats and Ageazians) who came much later.

  • and i was talking to all of u just to let u know Eritrea will grow it is only a baby now so let it grow and fix the little mistakes peace.

  • I was kind of struck by what seemed to me similarities between your style of strumming the Kinnor and the way this gentleman plays.

(Trying to imagine Hava Nagila played on the krar.)

  • I am really getting to like Ethiopean and Eritrean music lately. I am kind of curious, though about that lyre, but cannot seem to find any good information on it. It is obviously of very ancient origin, since the basic design seems to appear in nearly all Middle Eastern and Mediterranian cultures as well. Anyone know a good resource on line?

  • * The Bowl-Lyre of Northeast Africa. Krar: The Devil's Instrument * Ashenafi Kebede * Ethnomusicology, Vol. 21, No. 3 (Sep., 1977), pp. 379-395 (article consists of 17 pages) * Published by: University of Illinois Press on behalf of Society for Ethnomusicology

  • Thank you very much. Just knowing that it is called a "krar" got me most of what I needed to know. It is delightful that a traditional instrument is valued enough that it has been adapted to electrical amplification, rather than utterly displaced by the guitar.

  • Are they drinking coffee to be correct bun, and alcohol (mace). They're so going to have a huge hang over the next day dude.

  • GROOOOOOOVYYY!!!!

  • I think the Ethiopian map looked good when Eritrea was a part of it. I am not saying Eritrea belongs to Ethiopia or the people should be ruled by Ethiopians, but I think we should work our differences and work towards one Africa. Look at the USA and the EU, everyone is trying to unite except us Africans. I think Eritreans and Ethiopians have so much history together for us to end up like this.

    Peace everyone

  • thats is too difficult to do..

and you shouldn't use corrupt america as an example

i wish africa was one also, where our people can live in peace and where we can be a strong
