i HAVE WAITED EIGHT YEARS TO GET MARTIN AND i FINALLY GOT A PAIRTHIS YEAR, AND THANKS TO YOU i WAS ABLE TO DO A NEST CHANGE AND GET RID OF THE MITE PROBLEM. THIS VIDEO WAS GREAT FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME THAT HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING. THANKS!!!!
Purplemartins-R-Us recommends using nest changes and sevin 5% if needed. Sulfur is NOT recommended. Though used highly diluted on pets as a shampoo frequently and used in gardening. Sulfur is a known eye irratant and if inhaled can caused serious problems. Also as young/ nestlings are without any covering (feathers) the sulfur would be an irratant to the skin.
Ohhhh this is so cool. My father built a multi level bird house for these things when I was in grade school. I man I know thought it was too cool how I could imitate a purple martin call because I had heard it so much. 1 day if I am ever in a house of my own, I will build a purple martin house myself.

They are artificial plastic gourds. Alot easier to clean and care for than a natural gourd. Don't have to paint them or anything.

this may seem like a silly question, but are those actual gourds or are they some form of plastic SHAPED like a gourd?
