  • I don't understand? The Yellow Pages in Canada (where I live) runs my SEO, SEM, my website, mobile advertising as well as advertising on yellowpages.ca, canada411.ca and my ads in the printed book. I have access to view my analytics on line - they even track the calls coming from each of my different products, not just clicks and visits. I guess each country is different - and some yellow pages companies haven't evolved yet.

  • I use Yellow Pages still ... to hold my monitor higher off the desk :) Thanks guys.

  • The Yellow pages will be history if they keep up their "mass sales" mentality with no service.

  • A letter is sent to the person for approval. If they approve, an up to date telephone number will be given to the person searching.

  • Here is an example of how directory and advertisement should be. Advertisement should belong in the advertisement weekly book. Mail should be mail only. Yellow pages should business only. All businesses are listed in the yellow pages, no resident telephones. If someone wants to search for someone, they go to the department of social services, submit paper and identification. The fee is $20 for State $75 for National. $350 for international.

  • LOL

  • That is yellow pages ONLINE not the book... That is the whole point of the video - people are using google to find stuff (businesses) even if it is Yellow Pages online that deliver the results...

  • This whole video is pointless. I type in pizza and the city i live in on google AND IT DIRECTS ME TO YELLOW PAGES MEDIA ONLINE!!!! Through them i found a pizza place and ordered pizza.

I bet these people are using yellow pages media through google, without even knowning it.

  • YP.com or DEX mobile ap for the Android or Iphone are the best for searching local businesses hands down! GPS where you are at and delivers results and coupons.

Phone books are easy to use but at home. Mobile aps are nice when I am on the road. I use Google often but more for buying retail items such as a pool stick or coffee for my Tassimo.

  • Business owners are more interested in buyers not browsers. SEO...good luck; SEM is the only way to guarantee results.

  • @hongkongph00ey Yes, but in my opinion SEO is an integral part of a proper SEM strategy.

  • An interesting little aside to this is graph of how many people use yellow pages which runs back over the last 20 odd yeaqrs I believe and projects into the future. The graph is on a steady downward slide till Yellow pages is projected to vanish in about 4 years. I'm pretty sure the YP people have sufficient collective brain cells to do something about that, but charging £2k for an advert isn't going to cut it in the longer term.

  • @SEORankingAppraiser Wow. They should have really done something a long time ago. They should have evolved with the times. Maybe before Bing came around, they could have started their own search engine to compete with Google.

  • Love the YellowPages mobile app....!

  • Online Marketing is the future, most definitely.

The people don't go out without their Smartphone any more and use it a lot to find out the nearest restaurant or hair stylist. Local searches are the future instead of printed yellow pages.

  • loved the video - represents a great opportunity for business owners who are yet to even get a website and still pay thousands for ads...

  • Very easy to edit out the people that use yellow pages

  • This video is probably made by Google. I am 32 and I use the yellow pages cause the businesses in the phone book are actual businesses. The fastest most accurate way to find a local business remains with the phone book.

  • @rhd014047 32? That's old in internet years.

  • @rhd014047 While there maybe some truth to what you said, I think Google understands that and that's why they are making a big deal with their local search.

  • @rhd014047 no this video is obviously made by an SEO company promoting their services

  • Love it! Love it! Love it!

  • Great video guys. We've always wanted to check out a survey like this. We'll give you some plugs out here in Los Angeles!

  • Very funny - Nice job!

  • Hey.... friends from Australia, posted your video in my forum about YellowCrooks.

    yellowcrooks(dot)com

Urban vs Rural. That seems to be the deciding factor of print yp vs yellow pages.

  • What a great video! Well done and goodonya!

  • Old news now :-)

  • Great video. shared on Facebook and Twitter.

  • Yellow pages still remains good for killing big cockroaches, beating prisoners in movies and generating tons of advertising revenue for yellow pages.

  • It's scary just how ingrained Google is in peoples lives. It also goes to show that outside of our insular IM world, people don't really know or care how companies get to the first page of Google but it's ALL that matters.

  • I wonder how long it will take until they phase yellow pages out altogether? Cool video, very funny.

  • Fun video...clever marketing....keep up the great work!

  • Cool video guys! This will really make business owners think twice. :-)

  • cool video, its funny how people don't know what SEO stands for, whereas it's a second nature to us...

  • Fun stuff...and tells an important story too.

  • That is a great video. Nice job. There is obviously a lot of work to be done to help local business owners understand how to get found in Google. Their customers already know it though.

  • Great work

  • Awesome video :) hehe
