  • i love this poem even more now!! this jus gave it that extra,,that i loved about it in the first place.

  • I remember he married his 1st cousin Virginia when he was 26 and she was 13 oO.. People those days!:)

  • @sjbabiie826

It's debated as to what sort of relationship they had, I believe the popular theory is that they lived together as cousins and there was no romantic connection. Though it is said that Virginia was the only one Poe ever loved.

And believe it or not, there are some states where it is still legal for a person to marry their first cousin.

  • hey guys annabel lee was his cousin back then that was allow and they married when she was 12 years and he was 25 OMG right

  • JEBEM TI I EDGAR ALAN POA i ANABEL LEE MORAM UCITI NAPAMET!!

  • This is beautiful. In Holes (the movie version) Kate reads this

  • i have to learn this by tommorow. Yay.

  • Soooo, whose doing this extra assignment? :P

    -Daniel

  • In class we were reading this stoory

And this guy that likes me ( I like him Tew ) called meh his Annabel lee AWW !!! -33

  • My second cousin just had a daughter, and they were about to name her Annabel Lee, as well. Until he found this poem. And didn't want her daughter to live with such a haunting name.

  • You're an idiot. There are hundreds of forms of poetry, (lyrical, allegorical, odes, etc) so who are you to say that rap music isn't poetry, you pretentious snub.

Just because 22 people don't like this one particular poem doesn't even mean they like rap... So how the hell did you draw that conclusion?

  • :'(

  • Predivno! :)

  • This is so beautiful. I'm in tears really

  • I've heard of Edger Allen Poe before but when Alesana's cd came out it brought me to this poem :) the words are amazing which shows that alesana had good taste to base their cd off this beautiful piece of art. :)

  • we had to read that in english today. That was so beaitiful

  • wow "my heart will go on" really suits it well!! this was a very, very good interpretation!! thumbs up!!

  • HEEEEY...that's the song from the titanic!! :)

  • makes me cry every time...

  • still love it, postively wonderful

  • Alesana Brought me Here.

  • Thumbs up if Alesana brought you here!!!!

  • The song makes it just so lovely and so sad. Yet the words its self created by him are so beautiful and touching.

  • my mom told me that he was my cousin when i was younger i was so happy haha but it was a lie i felt dumb but i love the background music and this poem :)

  • i am astonished..thank you

  • beautifull!

  • If you've read Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov and not read this poem, try again.

  • @travishay5050 Glad to see that I'm not the only one to make the Lolita connection here. I swear, that book has messed my mind up forever, but it was the best written piece of literature ever so it's ok.

  • very beautiful. no words to describe.

  • Nice! However, I was very distracted by the titanic music in the backround and started to sing to it :P

  • Fantastically read. Bravo.

  • You did it nice C:

    But you did it fast.

  • the titanic's song on this poem, nice.

  • Wonderful lyrics:

I was a child and she was a child-

In this kingdom by the sea

    :'(

    R. I. P. Edgar Allen Poe!

  • @argunt Not lyrics...

  • the song in the back round is My heart will go on!!

  • on my MP3 now!!

  • @souldguitarman

    crazy thought here,

your english teacher is a dumbass.

Their love was so great that he refused to leave her side, not physically, but spiritually. He wasnt ever physically with her, the angels could "never dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful annabel lee"

he wasnt fucking a corpse, he was refusing to forget about his fallen love.

  • @jfishman23 Thats what my girlfriend said she wa slike that poem is creepy when I read it to her then I read it and she changed her mind.. especially after I explained it.

  • i want to name my kid Annabel Lee.

  • @janeeatsrainbows and then u show her this poem and say,"look honey !!! poe wrote this poem about u" :D LOL

  • i love how Poe can take a perfectly innocent poem and still manage to incorporate a screwed up twist at the end. I was shocked when this poem was about necrophilia

  • @SoulGuitarMan You doth assume too much.

  • @ModerateMartian my english teacher told me that it was about necrophilia, at least part of it. in the end it says he lies with her in her tomb by the sea...think of the other screwed up stuff poe has wrote about. im pretty sure this is not as innocent as you think..

  • @SoulGuitarMan Then you're English teacher is stupid and the same to you if you believe it. Dumbasses.

  • @gzac95 way to make yourself look like an idiot and a jackass on the internet. i thought fans of this poem and writer would be far more intelligent than you. you don't have to bite someone's head off for giving their opinion you know

  • @SoulGuitarMan You may have an opinion but yours was stupid. Obviously I'm not alone in my opinion that what you said is fucking retarded,,,, it is obvious to anyone with comprehension of language that he didn't write this about having sex with dead people you moron.

  • @SoulGuitarMan LOL. They were still children, and therefore aren't even thinking of fucking at the time. That interpretation is just stupid. It's probably just as the others said; refusing to let go of her our of pure love that was born from a child's innocence.

  • @oknowiamdead this poem was written as a flashback. look at the ending of the poem -_- and take into mind about the other fucked up stuff poe has written about. it's highly probable that he incorporated a screwed up thing like necrophilia, just saying, and not that the whole poem was based off of that either. that's how i interpreted the poem, a love story with a twist. do i have a slight sadistic mind? probably, but then again so did poe and that's why i like him.

  • From where did you get that deep and pure voice that is reading the poem? It's just beautiful and make the poem even better.

  • ANA MOLLY ANA MOLLY ANAAAAAAAA MOLLLYYY DODODODODODODODOD DOO DOO DOOOO

  • I didn't realize how sad this poem was until I watched this video. It's obviously about Poe losing his wife Virginia. The music really brings out the sadness. I almost cried.

  • @vinylrecordcollector It's even better when you read it by yourself by the candle light (and some absynthe in the glass;) ) - always gives me a goosebumps, one of my favorite poems!

  • It. She. And. The. But. For. Thats the first word of every stanza, helped me memorize this poem easily for those that need to.. Also, great work, very nice voice.

  • what song is in the background?

  • @moocow7989

My heart will go on :)

    it was from Titanic

  • i am called annabel :D

  • 'I was a child, and she was a child'

she really was. married a 13 year old. Jerry Lee Poe

  • Please don't tell me I'm the only one who raped the replay button?

  • Omgoodness. The Titanic theme song is playing in the background(:

  • gzac95, go pound sand up your ass. Dumb fuck.

  • My name is Annabelle :D

  • @lunalloween omg me 2 spelled the same way 2..and i happened 2 b related 2 him!!

  • @basbelle x)

  • Also will people think I'm gay if I love this poem but listen to hardcore metal and Am going to the Marines.

  • @gzac95 Who gives a fuck what they think? Edgar Allan Poe was a master at horror stories and sad poems. This one in particular was about his wife and it is so beautiful.

  • Wow i recorded myself reading this poem and it was good but not near as good as this . My favourite poem.

  • 22 people had their love taken away by the angels, i mean how can they dislike this masterpiece!

  • yes it's a great poem...but that speaker..man what a voice ..anyone know his name?

  • Best Anabel Lee video in my opinion. Exactly what I've been looking for :)

  • For those that may be new, that's a picture of Poe's wife Virginia Clemm @ 1:38. She was 15 years younger than him, and she died after ten years of marriage. This poem is about her.

  • I love that poem just reading it, but with the audio and pictures just made it so much more beautiful

  • This video is scary!!

  • @xXbballbeasts166Xx This video is "haunting," to put it more accurately. But haunting in a dark and sad and beautiful way.

  • this video is amazing. it def fits the words of the poem.

  • I listened to this because of Alesana's The Emptiness. No I don't need thumb ups.

  • @imdoinyourmomforgood i first learned about Edgar's works in English class

this was one of the poems we read. I love how this inspired The Emptiness

  • @XBOXKILLER33988 Alesana !!

  • 22 people missed the like button... because that was just beautiful :')

  • This video is so fake. You can see the wires and everything. It doesn't even rally look like a utah raptor. Fake. Faaaaake.

  • Good and I swear I heard the titanic song in the background

  • I cry for beauty...thank you for posting this video...

  • i loved this! <3

  • i want to cry D':

  • this is my favorite peom:)

  • COOL!!!

  • Pandasgrl. I totally get what your saying. I adore this poem and find it one of the most heart wrenching, romantic poems ever written. Poe is such a classic writer but this poem brings tears to my eyes everytime I read it.

  • Okay, wow. Some of you are under-educated morons. This is a saddening, romantic poem. And a CLASSIC, not that some of you can comprehend that. Leave it to you unsophisticated nasties to bring up necrophilia. (This is coming from an American, by the way, who just happens to have a repsect for literature and who is also an English major.)

  • love he song, from ticatic, so SAD!!!! =(

  • When I first heard this. I cried. This is just so beautiful. I love to see how even tho he had so much pain, he could still find beauty in his life. ♥

  • He actually sounds a lot like Jeremy Irons...or maybe that's just me. He played Humbert Humbert in Lolita and Annabel Lee has the vital role in the novel...

  • Soo good you made me see it in a different and lovely way. Thanx :D

  • This is one of my favorite peices by poe, good job.

  • i love this voice i could listen to this for hourts

  • @xXJanetAlexandriaXx "hourts"? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? Fucking retard.
