Grease was my favorite movie in the fourthgarde when everyone else liked HighSchoolMusical. Now I have the grease soundtrack on my I pod.Rock and Roll is here to stay It will never die!
i am singing this in our summer musical. im so nervous, cause i dont want to ruin such a good song. i want to make it a homage to this wonderful icon, and i dont know if i have the singing ability to do so! :/
I am 33 now... I have loved this song since i was 8 years old. Yea i'm a thug but there is no way i can deny that this song is MAGICAL!!... Nothing like music from da 50's... My grandfather was always playing the oldies when i was little and it rubbed of on me... Thanks grandad for all those days u rode around with me playing tunes like this!!!!!
ok im not a big fan of the 70s coz i was born at 90s lol but this song is really good i heard it from grease then decided to download the song from itunes to my ipod lol its very catchy
The T-Birds are actually far more interesting than Danny. I think so anyway. With Danny trying to be cool all the time, he just becomes boring. Sonny rocks..... Getting to say knockers and jugs in front of your teachers is so much fun.... Ha, a bunch of Irish teens doing greaser accents is very interesting.
Our school's running a production of Grease in two weeks. Was a bit gutted that I got the part of Sonny originally cos I had been watching the movie and his part was a bit rubbish. But the original proper version is much better. It's not just all about Danny. I don't get a song but I get brilliant lines. The stage version is better I think. This song is sang by Doody, one of the T-Birds, Grease Lightning is sang by Kenickie and Roger (another T-Bird) sings a song called Mooning.
I couldn't agree with you more. As much as I love the movie version since I grew up with it, the stage version does the T-Birds more justice. Doody especially is woefully neglected in the movie, and "Rump" is funnier on stage than "Putzie" is on screen.
wow...glad to see so many kids who love this song! I saw Grease in theater when it first came out in the 70s...I was 11 yrs old and LOVED it. The line was so long it went outside and we all patiently waited. It was THE BIG HIT that everyone had been waiting for, and blew us away. This was my favorite song.
@DVJFan yeah i thought when HSM came out it would remind me of grease. couldn't even get past 10 min of it. so horrible. Grease is the only musical i ever liked and could watch from start to finish. im not a big musical movie fan, so this had to be a good movie to keep me interested :).
@MigeulP I think that if it was retooled as something else...it might have been panned but not as much...the thing is that the T birds and Pink Ladies weren't as well established as the first...the lightning didn't strike the bottle twice on that one!
@vidhead85 Let's be honest, the only reason we loved it so much was because of how fun it was. There's no other explanation for how they got away with that scene where Frenchie's guardian angel appears before her and sings to her about how she should go back to high-school. It's not the kind of thing a corporation can milk, and I'm willing to bet the reason we haven't gotten a remake of this yet is because the sequel's flop proved that.
@PouletteForeverDur You obviously haven't read the entire comment thread if you're seriously accusing me of having never seen the original. For what it's worth, I watched it countless times as a kid and, when I was in middle school, I saw a stage production of it. I can remember thinking the actresses seemed way younger than they should've, they changed the line about plastic wrap as a condom, and "You're the One that I Want" wasn't in it. loltroll
@MigeulP Hey i'm not trying to start an argument.... And of course I know you're the one that I want wasn't in it, they switched it with Alone at a drive in movie :P
@PouletteForeverDur No, at the production I saw there was a different song in that exact scene. Don't remember it at all, just that I liked You're The One That I Want better. And there was this other song called "Freddie My Love" that I still can't get out of my head.
@sabbypink I guess, I don't really remember the stage production very much, and honestly, the FML song only stuck in my head because the actress singing it was essentially having an orgasm in her nightie during the performance (I saw it in middle school)
i also have to say RIP to Jeff Conoway
