A question for atheists. In a world where there's no proof of God's existence or of life after death; how will you explain to your children why you brought them into the world and why they should die?

If you said "There is no gold in China," you must have all knowledge of every bank vault, wedding ring and tooth filling. BUT, if I say "There is gold in China," I just need one instance and my statement is true. How much of the universe's knowledge do you possess? 1%? 5%? 10%? That leaves over 90% you don't know. How come the Creator of the universe can't be in the 90%? But I've spoken to Him & He to me.

You don't need to possess all of the knowledge in the universe to come to the conclusion that there isn't an old man in the sky running everything. @filoIII And then there's the Qu'ran, which I've read most of in english, however I haven't read all of it and I've read what I have read from several different translations and there is quite a bit lost in translation, there are words in arabic that mean things that in english there is no single word for and often the equivalent word isn't adequate by more than a bit. Needless to say the Qu'ran contradicts the bible in many places and Budhhism is worlds apart from both faiths.

All other religions-catholicism, islam, mormonism, etc.-all say we must work our way to heaven. Christianity alone has a substitute.
The AV is also known as the KJB, I've read it a couple of times - don't remember it word for word of course but if I recall correctly the requirement is that you believe in god and in jesus as his son who died for our sins and all that right?
@filoIII I'd now like to touch on the prophecy element of things, now perhaps I didn't pick up on these things, however I'd like an example of something predicted clearly and literally in the AV that is verifiable, is not due to people reading it and fulfilling it themselves and finally I would like it to be a modern enough event that there is reliable evidence to support it as having really happened - bonus points for within 300 years and my gratitude if within the last 100. @ninjatoothpaste Israel is amazing in its return in the last 70 yrs. No other nation has been ruled by others, had their people dispersed and then become a sovereign nation again. The Bible told of this happening. Ezekiel prophesied prosperity for modern-day Israel Ezek 36:11 It tells us Jerusalem would become the world's most important religious site Micah 4:1-2 The whole looks at that city today. @filoIII The chances that the Bible holds the truth are the same odds for every other faith - have you checked out every other faith thoroughly? I've read two different versions of the bible more than any others (cover to cover), they are the King James Bible and the New World Translation of The Holy Scriptures (the jehovah's whitness' version) and between those two alone there are disagreements. The JWs bible tells that there is no "hell", you simply don't get resurrected into paradise.
Not to be rude, but most Christians consider the Jehovah's Witnesses a cult, and do not take them seriously, or consider them Chrisitans.
Now, if you found outright contractions between, say, the Authorized King James Version, and, say, the New International Version, or some other version commonly used by Christians not part of a cult, I would be interested indeed.
@winstonwhyte You missed my point, which was that even among different versions of christian texts there are contradictions let alone other texts such as the Qu'ran. I don't see what distinguishes the KJB from any other religious text I've read, it still makes claims that are outright false and the only way to reconcile the book with reality is to not take it literally, which is a poor way for God to communicate to human kind, the bitter dispute between differing denominations is proof of that.

I would like to see Lewis Black as a televangelist. I think he would be great but I think his own modesty would hold him back. I just don't think he could pile it as high as the geniuses of that trade who came before him. The interesting part would be watching him choke on his own words.

I live in Finland and am new to Lewis Black, but from what I've seen here on youtube he's far, far, far better in front of an audience. He's very good indeed, but this stuff doesn't do him justice.

Not to be rude, but most Christians consider the Jehovah's Witnesses a cult, and do not take them seriously, or consider them Chrisitans.
Now, if you found outright contractions between, say, the Authorized King James Version, and, say, the New International Version, or some other version commonly used by Christians not part of a cult, I would be interested indeed.

@winstonwhyte You missed my point, which was that even among different versions of christian texts there are contradictions let alone other texts such as the Qu'ran. I don't see what distinguishes the KJB from any other religious text I've read, it still makes claims that are outright false and the only way to reconcile the book with reality is to not take it literally, which is a poor way for God to communicate to human kind, the bitter dispute between differing denominations is proof of that.
