  • This is so cool

  • Strip tease lol

  • it is great to hear all these old songs and make a camparision with todays music, hey i enjoy the oldies better

  • American Bandstand, the stroll and Bowzer- who could want more???

  • The Stroll was fun to do for those of us at the time who were "dance-challenged" 7th graders!!!

  • a vampire confesses . com ..>=-E""""

  • Woulda been better with a cowbell! Can't hang around to argue, tho, Gotta Stroll

  • The music was great. So were the cars!

  • The music was great. So were the cars!

  • Night of the Creeps sent me here.

    Sorry, American Graffiti

  • @NewPhoenixFilms me too

  • This is the coolest make-out song ever!

  • Heard, I think first, while puttin the moon eyes on above my stubby lake pipes on my 56 Victoria

  • this song and beat is pure sex, sexy , dirty and sultry - the essence of rock

  • Love to Stroll

  • The stroll was a dance of the 1950's ,it was danced at sock hops.I know I was there in the 50's. And all the Diamonds were doing was singing to the dance. To say it was creepy is amazing. The 50's was a great time.

  • @hanklukas Hey, any bozo who likes rap and todays crap will call this creepy. They're loco in the coco. Fried

  • @wj9389 I'm 17 now & even I think those times sound a lot better than today. -sigh- If only

  • SWEET!

  • This is one of the best songs I have ever heard... Did it sound as creepy then as it does now? It almost sounds like he and his girl are about to kill everyone.

  • @artemusprine"The Stroll" was a line dance (best way I can describe it), believe me there was nothing creepy about it, it was done at sock hops and it was a lot of fun.

  • @artemusprine Creepy?? Perhaps you should start over and try it again, because you certainly didn't live when this song was at it's peak.

  • @sugarfoot59 I've listened to it dozens of times now. Maybe "spooky" is a better word? I subconsciously said "creepy" because the song was used in the movie "Night of the Creeps" back in the '80s. Either way, I really like the song.

  • @artemusprine Okay, I thank you for your forthrightness and honesty, all is forgiven. I probably rushed too quickly to the defense of the song, and could have used a little more, shall we say...........'tact'.

  • Was 17 in "57. Didn't realize how lucky I was to grow up in the 50s and sixties. Sooo many kids my age. Car clubs, drive ins, teen dances all over the place. We RULED. This will never happen again, and by the way, no AIDS was a definite plus.Looking back, it was these "good old days" that enabled me to work for 40 years, and never felt that I had missed anything. We did it ALL IN STYLE, and I feel sorry for the kids of today.

  • @51merccoupe I'm glad you feel sorry for today's kids... How could we top this?

  • I'd like to see Lady GaGa write classic stuff like THIS!!!I'm ashamed of recording artists today...I take that back...there ARE no new "artists" today.Forty years from now you won't see people saying "yeah,Gaga, now that was music".

  • @60Macushla There are still many good bands, they just aren't "popular". Lady Gaga isn't the worst thing to happen to music by a long shot... This is a true, sweet, sweat and tears recording... Love the drums!

  • @artemusprine ...Sorry,most bands today aren't popular cause the music stinks.Ever since disco came, music has been ruined.Don't even get me started on Rap...

  • @60Macushla Rap is fucking garbage!!! It's all about METAL!

  • where were you in 62?

  • @humantestdummy before July I was in my Mom's tummy, after I was a newborn.

  • An ODE TO JACKIE WHITAKER who taught me to bop, stroll and SHOUT! In loving memory of Jackie. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

  • Since the 80s are coming back today, when will the 50s be coming back?

  • @BullworthPinUpGirl They came back in the 80's. I was there.

  • Back when cars had personality....

  • Easy uncle ruckus i know ya got revitaligo an all but takin it out on these folks will do no good

  • Boy, this brings back memories. Dancing to the stroll, and watching it on American Bandstand back in the 50s. Such fun!

  • Care to stroll anyone.

  • @2bwhiteproud fail

  • @2bwhiteproud what disgusting comments

  • LOL i remember this song used to play at Safeway every day at the hour from 4-6pm. God this song brings back nostalgia.

  • Down the aisle yo! <3

  • to the recists, bigots and assorted lowlifes- take a hike and let humans enjoy music without poison! the world is too small for the likes of you!

  • @icini123 If your going to spout off your stupid mouth then learn to S-P-E-L-L. RECISTfor RACIST :)

Your proving my point for me. Idiots coming out of school cannot even spell simple words or do simple math.

A product of integration:). Thanks Mr LBJ for unleashing animals on the once great USA you have borught education to new lows!!. Say what you may Negroids are crime prone.

  • @packingten I'm sorry I'm not actually an idiot -just dyslexic. My IQ has been measured at 141 so I think I can misspell a word or two. And I am 55 years old not just out of school. I am sad your life is so full of hatred; life is too short , relax and be happy. PS --I am just saying that to make you mad! I don't really care if you are unhappy or not

  • Takes me back to wonder times & tunes in my life.....the 50's!!!!! What happened to the music for crying out loud....& the people?

  • this is my favorite 50's song and it is from the year i was born.

  • Sexy song and you can't help but get up and Stroll. The best music ever was in that era and true fans won't let it die.

  • I stroll for soul. I gots the 50's fever!!!

  • Lost in the Fifties, here!

  • .....Well Rock my Soul...How I Love to Stroll.....

  • This is one awesome song! Makes you want to stroll...

  • My Mom gratuated in '56 & loved this song. Taught me to dance in the kitchen while it played. She passed away almost 3 yrs. ago (3-2-08) & it was one of the songs played at her service. Miss you Mama!

  • Copy this soundtrack title into a 50's bar somewhere~~

  • my sad little claim to fame...I shook Chuck Berrys hand after sneaking past security at a UK concert when I was a teen in the 90s :)...

auroralight40...I wished all my Girlfriends were called Donna thanks to Richie Valens so I guess this music crosses time and culture :)

  • @2manynegativewaves Can you play the guitar while duck-walking now?

  • Love this oldies music!

  • Great classic rock and roll......never will go out of style......1949sorful

  • @weightfeather1

I don't know of any faster version of The Stroll but Donnie Elbert did do a Stroll tune that is more upbeat. See here in which you also get a clip from American Graffiti. You can access it here in YouTube called Let's Do The Stroll

  • elvis was not the king of rocknroll!!! little richard is!!! no Im not Black!!!!

  • @jimithewolf69 My vote goes to Fats Domino. He was the only one making early rock and roll music in the late 40s/early 50s that was popular through the whole 50s, early 60s, and even survived the "British Invasion" for a few years.

  • American Graffiti--Greatest movie ever made!

  • @TheBlueoverthemoon

Yes, it brings back lots of memories. The kids 2 or 3 years ahead of me did these very things. Pretty gutsy when you consider parents really did control your life. The term my dad will kill me I think started then. And we knew he meant it. Another good coming of age movie is Breakfast club.

  • @TheBlueoverthemoon Amen to that, brother!

  • @TheBlueoverthemoon don't forget forrest gump ;)

  • I was born two years after this song came out...who cares! I LOVE this music. Love listening to it anytime but especially when we go to the street rod shows! The best music ever!

  • Love it!

  • awesome song baby! :)

  • So cool this song...

  • The Diamonds - Canada's greatest contribution to early rock and roll.

  • I was a 50s kid! At our LincolnH.S. class of '57 we are always certain to have the DJ (CDJ these days) do this. Just call me: "LOST IN THE 50s."

  • damn she looked a good ten years OLDER than him ick!!

  • How can anyone NOT like this??????????? It's classic doowop!!! Every time I hear it , it makes me want to dance. Thank you so much for posting it. :) it's just to bad I wasn't born in time to enjoy this music as soon as it came out. ( was born in the early 60's.) I would have loved poodle skirts, and sock hops !

  • @guidingstar62 It's still out there!!

  • from the 50's to the 90's it must have been great rising generations. Sadly 2010 seems like it's downgrading. People stay inside more, everything is becoming more digital (books for god's sake), Less of a need to go out to get things, everything is more about how it looks than how it works, loss of imagination and ingenuity (in America at least), ect.

  • AWESOME THANK YOU NAMASTE :)

  • I got a tattoo of a diamond on the left side of my hand because I like the diamonds alot

  • What really makes me sick is how the VATO type lowrider piece of shit hispanics have corrupted what is 100% AMERICAN Rock&Roll.

When those half wits cruise their piles of shit down the BVD so high on pot they can barely see they play this classic R&R and act like their race had something to do with creating it.

    What a JOKE.

  • @ArmedAmerican88 What really makes me sick is that your mother never takes her smelly underwear home haha btw, last time i checked, you didn't invented Rick&Roll only some home made dildos for yourself lol

    What a Joke.you are

  • @ArmedAmerican88 you sir, are an idiot.

  • @ArmedAmerican88

You hit the nail on the head! These punks need to go back where they came from and quite living off of us taxpayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ArmedAmerican88 Fuckstick...This group is not American...You still like them? Back in the day...We cruised with all races.

I ran away to join the service when I was 17........To protect the rights of racist fuckwads like you.

Youth of all shades created rock and roll.........Tell your mom to shave her back (Again)

  • @474TFW Shut the fuck up, I can smell regular army like you over the internet.

two week basic, Any minority or white trash like you can hack.

    Ignorant bullet sponge.

We use your assbag bodys for sandbags in the marines.

  • @ArmedAmerican88 Wrong again little man.

  • @ArmedAmerican88 Nice reference at the end X]

  • one thing's for shure...he REALLY likes strolling! lol. i love this song :)

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! One of my all time favorite songs from the 50's! THANKS for posting it. Gives me a thrill every time I give it a listen...and that's a boss montage of stills from the classic 70's movie "American Graffiti"! KUDOS to all those involved! You have MADE my day, buddy! :)

  • Several months ago I was in a supermarket...and this very song by the Diamonds was being played (repeatedly) on the loudspeaker. I asked the young clerk at the checkout stand if she knew the name of the song. She didn't. So it goes.

  • This song makes me feel oh so kinky and naughty!!! It's sad that good music like this doesnt exist anymore

  • For me, antique cars and oldies are like being in a dreamland. What a time to be alive.

  • Come, let's stroll Stroll across the floor Come, let's stro-oh-oh-oll Stroll across the floor Now turn around, baby Let's stroll once more Feel so good Take me by my hand I feel so goo-ooh-ooh-ood Take me by my hand And let's go strolling In wonderland Strollin', , strollin' aah-huh-uh Rock and ro-uh-oh-oh-oh-oh-llin' Strollin' Well rock my so-oul How I love to stroll There's my love Strolling in the door There's my lo-o-o-ove Strolling in the door Baby, let's go strolling By the candy store
  • love the stroll. 1953 when the spaniels did goodnight sweetheart to 1971 and the doors riders on the storm was rock n' rolls best period. by late 73 disco was showing its ugly presence and then with few exceptions like stevie ray vaughn, the stray cats, the blasters , and a few others, it was all just crap. till in the end we got what we have now.....super crap. people refered to as " artists " who rap, or chant in monotone nothingness. void of music, melody, hamony. full of ego and nothing else.

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 -- Check out the MotorCity (DETROIT) scene. Not just Motown Records, but acts like Scott Morgan, Bob Seger, MC5, ROCKETS, Howling Diablos, Stooges and so many more. If ya don't check out these acts, you're missing out on a LOT of what I assume you would have to agree is stuff that just gave disco the finger--and are still rockin' along with many other less promoted groups out of the Ann Arbor/Detroit area. Check it out and get a new prospective...

  • @OdysseyLoungeA2 of course you've know way of knowing this but I'm from the detroit/ann arbor area. the bob seger system, played at my high school homecoming dance in 1969. the MC5 played at my friends birthday party in the clubhouse at somerset apartments in Troy, michigan. the stooges played all over the area as well as alice cooper, the frost, src, fridgid pink, and all the others who started in the sixties. I consider them sixties acts even though their sucess continued into the seventies

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 -- Cool. This reply was a surprise. I guess I really figured you were from some less "enlightened"area of the planet, since you didn't mention any of the A2/Detroit acts in your first post --my bad! I' guessing you went to high school in Birmingham, and, I know that Somerset (off Crooks Rd) clubhouse. Hope you were able to make it to Goose Lake and also to my bar (ODYSSEY) in A2 back in the day and ar still rockin' live in A2/Det scene happening today. ROCK ON!

  • @TheBabyboomkidof53 actually I'm from troy mi. graduated troy high school 1971. thats where bob seger played. also russ gibb attended our school posing as an exchange student even though he was probably pushing 30 at the time. still cant believe he pulled it off but he did for a good while.he writing an artical for creem mag. about the counter culture in the high school there.the clubhouse at somerset in MC5 days of 68 was off coolige on dorchester. its the office now. I"m in alabama last 34 yr

  • OH! WOW! Takes me back to 1957 when I was 18. We do this at our High School reunions...Abraham Lincoln High School, Philadelphia, PA. I'm 71 now and hate it.

. Just call me: 'LOST IN THE 50s.'

  • im 31 and i love the 50's and early 60's music all good to me

  • Great!

  • CliffBurton - the song playing as The Pharaohs drive away after letting Curt out is Love Potion No, 9 by The Clovers, a hit for them in 1959. The one playing earlier as they race past the cop car before it tears out its under-carriage, was Come Go With Me by The Del Vikings, a huge hit in 1957. Great stuff indeed.

  • superb

  • the stroll is erotic along with the sax

  • For those of us who were not great dancers back in junior high school this was the perfect song. Everybody had a chance to participate without being put down for how we looked.

  • come let's stroll, stroll across the floor ....

  • im old and i can do the stroll. dick clark . i could hardly wait to get home from school and dance to the stroll

  • what is the name of the song when the pharoes r pulling in a drive in? its the part where they had just pulled the steering system out of the police car and they drove away

  • the 50's, drive ins, drive up restaurants and fabulous music, man what can i say?

  • @2bwhiteproud ..WOW..U ARE A SAD "LITTLE"TINY MAN ..LMAO..TOO FUNNY..OR SHOULD I SAY PATHETIC..

  • @buttacudawey Why do you think I'm pathetic? because I have seen what the Black man has done to my country I doubt your even old enough to remember how it was BEFORE they took over everything!.

They brought education to new lows kids coming out of school are now more worried about Basketball than a career. They can't do simple math anymore I bet your right there among them. The School I attended as a Child once peaceful now has Armed guards inside and OUT.Remember they HATE US!,Kiss their ASS

  • @unklbuk1 Hold on to those memories, things aren't nearly as much fun now...

  • This was my mom's jam (still is)

  • Such a naughty song!...

  • This is the only music i could ever dance to, (drunk or sober)

The 50s music can't be topped, it was the greatest.

  • @HGBJR1955 how old are u exacly i'm 15 i love these songs i dont know why teens dont listen to these

  • @jbeatles99 I was a senior in high school the year this was released.

I am 74 now and it's good to hear young people say they like what I consider our

music from the good ole days. Thanks for your reply.

  • Ginnyawe, I'm 68 and one of my sons is crazy about this era, too and can sing them all. So neat to hear how much you love you Mom! God bless your family.

  • @ginnyawe, ur mom is correct! i am 58 yrs., and the 50's were great! i remember a lot about that time. this song is one of the best! thanx 4 posting!

  • Have always enjoyed this 50's classic! THANKS so much for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" with us! You've MADE my day! :)

  • One of the first records that created a LIne Dance and it sure was enjoyable to due. The Diamonds had success with some noteable hits like "Little Darlin". Ak47 you have good taste in the Oldies. Keep up the good work. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine.

  • In American Graffiti, when this comes on its electrifying. The Stroll is the Monster Dance of all time.

  • the stroll I learned that by watching my cousin dance to it and she was an ace so I learned it and put some of my own moves in it and man it was cool rhat was way before grease ever came out for a thirteen year old man I could do the stroll man that was great no not like grease but all original.

  • But you are correct about Williams writing Stay, cucksterberg. In fact he wrote it in 1953 when he was 15!

  • Sorry chucksterberg, The Stroll was indeed written for The Diamonds but it was penned by Clyde Otis & Nancy Lee .

  • U kids really did miss some of the best pop music ever. I was a teenager in the 50s, it was as great as y'all have heard

  • I've always liked this .....

  • I am 42. The 1950's have always been my favorite music. Both rock and roll and jazz. Eddie Cochran rocks like no other, Gene Vincent. Little Richard. Check those guys out.

  • i lovew the diamonds im goingto see them in a free concert part series in michigan next month andillprobably stroll

  • For those not aware, the late Chuck Willis is regarded as The King Of The Stroll. Check out his Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes, Betty & Dupree; C.C. Rider and Keep A Drivin' as classic examples.

  • LOVE this song!! Long live the 50s and 60s....why can't we go back? =)

  • this song still sounds as tough as it did back in the day im sure...

  • those were the days !!!!

  • Great song to dance to.

  • "The Stroll" seems like one of the first "heavy" rock songs, better than Zep.

  • The only song that they didn't cover. LOL

  • nice work...thanks

  • The Stroll was the main template for 'Rumble' by Link Wray, which went on to influence every famous rock guitarist ever- so by chance its a very influencial song

  • when my daughter was in girl scouts we all had a sock hop,and the girls were in poodle skirts, and the mom's wore blue jeans and leather jackets and we all got on the floor and "strolled" this song! What fun! The mom's enjoyed it as much as the girls!

  • love this song stroll to it all the time !!

  • One of my favorite songs from the 50's is certainly "The Stroll" by the Diamonds. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • This classic was written by the late, great Brook Benton (Boll Weevil, It's Just A Matter of Time). Brook also wrote Send For Me by Nat "King" Cole. Brook was a truly talented artist. God Bless You, Brook.

  • God I love this song! I first heard it on vinyl. In fact, it was the record you are usuing for your cover picture! No kiding! Love that record!

  • Wonderful! Thanks for posting!

  • This was a big tune at the Benilde Sock Hops in St. Louis Park, MN.

  • One of the best rock and roll records ever made

  • i remember doing this dance with my nan i love you rip loved the basement parties at their house good times!!!

  • Use do the The Stroll at high school dances. Am in a wheelchair now, but my toes still move. What a great time to grow in. Wish the kids of today could have a taste of it. Thank you for the great song and wonderful memories.

  • I'm just a bit too old to be a kid of today, 35 but I really like this kind of stuff too. Good luck with the wheelchair, My wife needs one for covering long distances.

  • I think when you ask "whatever happened to real talent like this".......everybody and his brother started thinking they had talent and were genuine musical "artists", well, they were WRONG!!! Thousands of bands sounding like CRAP.....can't sing and mediocre musicians at best....no originality at all....sound like they formed up in a week in somebodys basement!!!!

  • closeminded much? Jesus, broaden your horizons not everything written today sounds bad.

  • AWESOME!

  • How did we ever stray away from this meaningful and wonderful music to the crap we have today??? Todays junk absolutely sucks. Thanks for the great tunes AK!!!!

  • I agree with this liner and I am 36.

What ever happened to real talent like this????

  • A 1958 global blockbuster from this Toronto,Canada base Band!!Classic

  • okay sweet ,you got me i mean sweet.

  • Weeeeee..............LOVE THIS!!!!

  • i like this song .. i was born in 1967 and i heard this on lervern and shirley

  • this and one summer night by the danleers are my favorite 50's songs.

  • I agree about this one and One Summer Night too. The Stroll was perfect for those of us who weren't that graceful at other dances.

  • the stroll... absolutly wonderful... i love this song

  • I thought this song was from 1958. Does anyone out there have some other great songs by 'The Diamonds' like 'Honeybird', 'For You Alone', 'My Dog Likes Your Dog' and 'You Are The Limit'?

One of the really great doo-wop groups from the 50's era.
