The Grapes of Wrath is a novel published in 1939 and written by John Steinbeck. Based in the Great Depression era. Basically about a group of sharecroppers who lost their livelihood due to drought and economic hardship. This song sounds like it may have been based around this novel. I used to play this song over and over again years ago. Glad I stumbled on it again. Great song.
@boozeroyale Your explanation sounds logical, especially as I listen to the lyrics again after about 20 years! I had thought it might be about the mormon pioneers too as that was Wayne's childhood religion.
My girlfriend used to live in yorkshire whilst I live in the South West I used to listen to this on the bus ride to see her it made the miles go quickly and even thought we he have not been together for 12yrs this is still brilliant even our 13yr old likes it
Gran canción, hermosas imágenes. Gracias.
