  • why is this in my recommendations

  • GRAF WAS THE BEST SO SHUT THE F EVERYONE

  • @JordanjamesX

    rubbish, rubbish and BULLSHITS !

Steffi would have won this final if she had had a resting day between her (so tough) semi-final against Lucic and the final.

Unfortunately for her, she couldn't benefit from it, because of the rain. And it was an additional disadvantage, with the difference of age (30 against 23) and of opposition (Davenport had almost had a 'free ticket' to the final, routing Stevenson 6/1 6/1).

Steffi stood no chance in the final, as she was too exhausted.

  • @JordanjamesX

I will just reply : LMAO....

  • @deusexmachina85

and you, you are a turd ex mashed ass...

  • @deusexmachina85

and don't mix up Steffi Graf with your own mother, OK ??

  • Whatever, in the 1999 Wimbledon final Graf was hammered by Davenport because Lindsay had the serve, and the power to destroy Steffi. Lindsay was smart she mixed up her serve attacked Graf's backhand and went to the net a lot! Steffi was confused she just could NOT handle Lindsay's incredible power.

  • @JordanjamesX

Davenport made 70 points, Graf 67.

That's not "hammering" in my book. But, well, I'm a Graf fan.

Different standards for different folks ...

  • @JordanjamesX God you are an annoying pain in the ass. I am not a Graf fan, but you have nothing to do with your pathetic life but go on videos and complain about Graf or gush on Serena.

  • @selesfan30

    Well said, Seles fan !

  • @JordanjamesX and if Davenport had been playing your precious Sanchez that same day Sanchez crap forehand Vicario would have lost 6-0, 6-0. Now go back under your rock troll.

  • @grafgirl27 Oh please, Sanchez Vicario always was better than Davenport on clay

  • @yomismo74 I am talking about Sanchez vs prime Davenport at Wimbledon. Yeah a prime Sanchez would beat Davenport on clay, while a prime Graf would double bagel a clutz like Davenport on clay.

  • Steffi looks huge in those kind of tshirt

  • Thank you for the video...Soy un eterno fanatico de Steffi Graf, a quien considero una gran atleta pero ante todo un gran ser humano...muy talentosa y muy fuerte mentalmente con un gran corazon.

  • Steffi Graf always makes me yearn to get onto a tennis court and hit. She, the legend, is the reason.

  • Steffi Graf, what a Player.

  • Graf had more injuries than any other top player in the open era. And she had a dad who almost destroyed her career with his handling her taxes.

BTW, knowing that a Jodie Foster fans shot at Ronald Reagan diminishes my respect for Jodie.

  • What does it have to do with jodie? or did she condone it?

Saying this is like saying you don't have respect for Steffi because it was a fan of hers who stabbed Monica! I love Steffi(as do you) and would never blame her for Monica's predicament....

  • What a difference between clay and grass! The POWER game is more suited for the grass surface, hence 1 month later Davenport owned Graf in the final. The slower clay surface suits players with more stamina, baseline skills and good footwork, hence the GREATEST players win on both! eg, Graf, Serena, Navratilova, Borg, Agassi. Hopefully, soon we can add Nadal and Federer to that list!

  • Not always true galactus. if clay only suited the one with more stamina and less of power, monica wouldnt have graf's number on clay..... monica was easily harder hitting than graf and had certainly lesser stamina or speed for that matter.... its subjective actually not always true.

  • besides sometimes players have their problems with certianly non achievers. graf couldnt tackle amanda coetzer for some reason. but monica used to make super short work of coetzer. graf was able to beat monica often ( well so did monica) but had tough times with coetzer who used to get royally fucked by monica. some peoples games just hurt you even if they are not outstanding players

  • graf faced problems with novotna like crazyy.... who hingis used to mostly make short work of obviously because she has a backhand to tackle volleyers. but graf almost always beat hingis ...... so people just trouble you and i must agree novotna was a very good player although not so popular.. but she used to take graf to the brink so many times.... and she just couldnt harm hingis on most occassions.. well i guess she did beat hingis but hingis sailed through easily in many of their matchups

  • That's one of the things that puzzle me too. Coetzer's game doesn't have any big weapons and yet, Graf couldn't put her away. Meanwhile, Sanchez gets blown off the court by Graf (for the most part) and yet, Sanchez is a more accomplished counter puncher than Coetzer.

  • am glad you get what im trying to say bro..... actually if you notice.. before graf used to have a game where she expected short returns once her forehand was in flow.. that gave her the advantage and she kept dominating. what couetzer used to do is when she used to get on the defensive with graf she used to return the ball altho not really hard or anything but really deep into the court..she thus used to neutralise grafs power and graf who left her forehand side open used to get left puzzled

  • Coetzer beat Graf 3 times in '97 - certainly when Graf wasn't at her best, just prior to her taking a year out with that knee injury, so , to me, Coetzer benefitted from Grafs poor form at that time. When Graf came back in 98 she beat Coetzer something like 6-3, 6-0 if I remember correctly.

  • I totally agree. By '97 Steffi was step or two slower and against someone of Coezters ability(keeping the ball in play) it drove Steffi crazy. To put it in perspective Amanda didn't take a set off Steffi until their 7th meet which she won in three sets. She had some easy wins over Steffi in '97 but I think that's mostly to Steffi's lack of form. Career head to head 11-4 in Graf's favour.

  • did anyone notice davenports different service motion??

  • davenport has the worst footwork i have ever seen, the first set was so embarrasing.

but what a great tournament for graf,

her semi-final against seles was a great match

  • Well mrbunny74 she must have pretty bad footwork considering she has won 22 million in prize money, the most any women has ever won in tennis. plus she doesnt really need to move considering she hits the ball as hard as most men.IF u get a game off her let me know, u sld considering she has had a baby and all and cant move

  • look at this match. I rest my case.

  • One match on clay, wow her worst surface, shame she bet graff the next month in striaght sets at wimbledon. u wanna see her move check out the match she beat sharapova 60 60.Like to see ur come cack then

  • dude, it's not like a big secret, that davenport

is a bad mover. it's not like i am letting everybody in on a highly classified secret.

if you wanna take her out, make her move, it's that easy actually. don't get me wrong, respect 4 lindsay 4 losing all that weight and coming back so strong, but hey... it's not a great athlete..

  • no. lindsay is known for having some of the best footwork on tour. how do you think she sets herself up for those booming groundstrokes all the time? her movement is poor, but her footwork is perfect. movement and footwork are completely different things.

  • good point...and her movement isn't really all that bad. she kind of looks like she lumbers sometimes and that combined with the fact that she's so big makes people really criticize her. i've seen worse movers on the tour than davenport. also, sometimes her effort isn't there...sometimes i feel like if she would just make the effort to take a couple of more big steps, she would get to more balls.

  • No, "footwork" is synonymous with movement.

And Davenport was the worst mover among slam winners I ever watched.

  • well, the movement of her swinging forehand and backhand sent Graf into retirement after a sublime wimbledon final won by davenport :)

  • The Wimbledon 1999 final was quite close, Davenport made just 3 points more than Graf.

This FO 1999 quarter final was quite one-sided though. Graf was far better.

  • No doubt she was. Davenport was sluggish on clay.

The wimbledon final showed that in tennis, winning the important points matters most.

  • Yes, it does.

Steffi was flat in the Wimbledon 99 final. Visibly out of gas.

    Physically and mentally.

It may sound funny, but apparently having beaten Venus (the future champ) had been more important. And having beaten Hingis at the FO. The next generation.

  • Well, I wish I was that out of gas when I play tennis. She played great and Davenport was just a tick better.

Why can't you just not admit that ?

It was her day. Both played many close matches after all.

  • I have never heard anyone (fan or expert) say that Graf "played great" in the Wimbledon 99 final. She played a very uninspired match. Davenport didn't. And deserved to win.

  • Sure it wasn't the best match of her career.

Though she seems to be your goddess, she's just a human being. Even pros have ups and down. A champion finds a way to win when he/she is down. She did it for most of her career. she won many matches without having her A-game on...

On that day, it wasn't enough.

  • She is not "my goddess".

If she were that I would dream about "woulda-coulda scenarios" all day, about how much more Steffi could have won.

  • well, step back and read some of your numerous posts on youtube videos. Put yourself in other people's shoes.

Some of your comments are just preposterous and make you sound retarded.

For example, calling the seles stabbing "minor" is one of many. Though the wound was superficial, it makes you sound like you condone or even ridicule what has happened to her.

  • I didn't call the STABBING minor.

I called the stab WOUND minor. Which is was. It is a fact. The wound needed just one stitch to close.

  • Now, That is a subtle difference. And I suppose you didn't say that the blackmail scandal was was worse than the stabbing?!

So, correct me if i'm wrong. seles's wound was minor, therefore she made excuses for not coming back and pretending to have depression (while also being told that her father had cander a few months later).

On the other hand, the scandal was so bad that it destroyed steffi's game and made her fall... to number two...

and we're the one who are dillusional ?

  • She had depressions and eating disorder probs even before the stabbing. The stabbing and especially her dad dying of cancer multiplied them.

And yes, a 20-month-long blackmail scandal is worse than one stab attack resulting in a minor stab wound.

  • If i had to choose, I would pick the scandal. No sharp pain in the back, no hospital, no stitches, no wondering why someone attacked you just because of your game.

Anyway, she looks more than fine to me now.

  • When playing Venus, Mirjana Lucic for three sets of pound action before playing Lindsay, I would say that. Then you have Serena beating in a U.S. Open series tournament in that year. I don't blame her for quitting.

  • Steffi beat the top 3 players in the world in the same tournament. This tournament was so meant to be for Steffi.

  • Just a month later, Davenport would defeat Graf for the Wimbledon title. That was Graf's last slam appearance.

  • I LOVE LINDSAY!!

  • davenport

  • graf is the best
