  • Hey nice vid! I have a 98 CSVT but never went that fast is that possible stock? I thought they were 135 govenor limited stock. Its amazing how big of sleepers these cars are, i just sold my 01 Granp Prix GTP and have no regrets or car complications since then.

  • Thanks man. You listen to it on the dyno vid? Straight 3L with aint intake that i made. Exhaust is msd headers and y pipe. The rest of the exhaust is all stock besides where the big resonator in the middle of the car i cut off and put a flowmaster there and the 2 little mufflers at the back where the bumper is i cut off and put a straight pipe with tips

  • You can swap a 3.0L block from the DOHC taurus for more displacement, you just reuse the SVT top end for better breathing. Also I've seen boosted CSVTs that are pretty mean.

  • 265Whp is not unheard of on stock internals with 8 psi. And that is just a mild safe streetable setup. A 3.0 with a NPG stage 2 kit can make 450.

  • ummm ive raced a zx2 and driven them when i owned my 2001 acua integra an they will not come close to beating it. an theres no way in hell that big ass v6 is going to fit in one

  • Ok I've never driven an Integra, but my ZX2 routinely smoked neons, civics, celicas, and...just about any other car of its era, and also having OWNED a V6 Contour, I assure you it would fit in the escort, yes it's cramped even in the contour due to the size of the valve covers/manifolds but not impossible. My point was 195hp in a ZX2 would break into the 6 sec 0-60 range since it's 7.8 stock.

  • You know it is quite possible. Everybody I seem to race is not nearly as good of a driver as I am. I only have an 03 eclipse GS 5spd and I beat a Sentra SER specV, a stratus R/T, a Grand Am GT, a jetta 1.8t, a couple 99 Civic Si's with fart cans. And all those cars are supposed to be faster than my car but they're not. It's quite surprising how many people don't know how to drive their car as well as they think they do.

  • You get the motor from a 01-06 taurus or escape and use the stuff from the svt but the fuel rail and intakes

  • Well, actually stock contour SVT's are supposed to top out at 150 miles per hour, thats what Ford says anyways. I haven't gone that fast yet with my SVT (not planning too now since I living in Toronto and if your caught over 50 they take your car away and you get 6 demerit points taken away on top of that you get a nice fine for 2 - 10 g's).

  • I think the Duratec's tend to starve for oil in long hard corners but i've never heard any bad things on long straights. I think if an engine cant last a few minutes at redline, then its not good for anything :) LOL. Hotboyonfiyer sounds crazy like me. I run my car hard but hey thats the way its mean to be. Actually cars that are driven hard IMO tend to last even longer!

  • I think I have to agree with you there. But I think the 2.5 are the main ones who have oil problems. Thats why they tend to sling rod bearings more. Thats why you get a 3L. As for the Grand AM's, honestly they may be able to pull me off the line but when my car was stock with just a drop in K&N, I managed a best of a 15.19 in the quarter which IMO is decent for a stock SVT with a filter - no spare tire or jack though. I think the quater on those are high 15's no?

  • I meant the stock time of a grand am GT. Also I only go to the track in the spring or fall when the weather is cool. Good for the car and good for me. I also cool the car between runs. I dont know if this is considerred cheating or not but its back from the mustang days when we'd put ice on the intake to cool it :)

  • I was thinking of doing a 3L at one time but I really miss driving a RWD car and I think I will want to get back to that. I love my SVT but I might go for a used IS300. They are not very quick when stock but really, if it can pull of a 15.0 then I'm happy...sad..sign of me getting old. LOL

  • Yeah I missed driving a RWD too. Ive owned 2 88 thunderbird turbocoupes with a 2.3 turbo 4cyl 5-speed. So I decided to opt for a 87 merkur xr4ti. Same motor just detuned and it only weight 2,900 and is about hte size os a escort hehe. This is my next project. The window man is coming in hte morning to put my windshield in. THen I can finally drive it haha

  • If I had a chance to have a 2nd car as a project (not just a single daily driver) then I'd love to do a first gen RX7 - GLSSE with a turbo swap. Nothing crazy, 10psi out of a TO3/04 hybrid is probably more than enough. My friend had one and it was lots of fun.

  • If you were in Toronto - Canada i'd hook up with you for a run. My engine is well loosened up and revs nice and free. Its got 300,000+ KM on it :) Knock on wood, been very reliable in general.

  • Also I know about the intake gumming up. I've taken my upper off 4 times since I've owned it and cleaned it as well as cleaned the throttle body and IAC passages. You can clean the mass air wire too with a bit of alcohol.

Ive raced plenty of CSVT on the express way and they dont even come close to staying up with me.Before when I was stock with nothing but a flowmaster it was hard for me to pull on this 2000 grand am GT I raced all the way up to 130. That was the upper and lower taken off and cleaned with a fresh tune up.if you know anything about theese cars and work on htem you would know how gumed up the intakes get and how much power can be gained back from cleaning them.

  • Factory they start to fall off around 120.I stomp 2000 and new GT's with no problem now. But its cool if you think urs is just as fast as mine I hear. Post a video then

  • Will do sometime over the next couple weeks. Will make you a clean vid from 0-230kph which is approx where it stops but thats about the right top speed for these cars. Also maybe something was wrong with your car if you could barely pull a GAGT. I'm about on par with my friends 2000 BMW 328CI on the highway.

  • I did do a quick run last night and noticed that it pulled strong to about 130 and then took a while to get to top speed. I've done this last fall and I swear it pulled better. Maybe a cool october night air (10C) could make some difference or maybe I might have done the pull on a slight downhill without knowing it. Anyway the car seems to pull just as strong as your video except for the last 10-15mph.

  • My next set of upgrades will probably be a LSD, fidanza flywheel (will do those when I gotta do the clutch), upgraded MAF and a chip. That will be the end of my modding :)

  • Hmmm its nice but to be honest, doesnt look really all that different to get to 140+ than my 2.5 E0. I've got 177 WHP on an E0 which only has a modded y-pipe, KKM, gutted pre-cats, highflow main cat and a magnaflow exhaust. Mind you I've got no spare tire and jack, minimal stereo stuff (maybe 20 lbs worth). I also removed the hoodliner which IMO cause too much heat soak. I also only weigh 140lbs so maybe my car is kinda lighter than most. I run stock sized wheels and tires too.

  • omg..that thing got up there in no time...i'd be scared to run the rpms that high for that long tho.

  • haha well it has been tuned and trust me that aint hte longest ive ran it that long. And if you got a good motor you should have to worry bout as long as you aint running the 24 hr lemans haha

  • Mines not factory bu thye are pretty fast. They got really nice leather seats. white racing gauges from the factory. And relieable...some maynot think so but it just depoends on how it was taken care of. But I will tel you that the 3L swap i did are very reliable and have alot less issues with like spinning bearings like hte factory svt 2.5 Over all its a great car though. I feel in love with it a long time ago haha

  • Got one, took this video when it was bone stock, not even a K&N on it.

    Found out later that the cable for the secondary intake ports was off and I was not getting all the power.

    I got a KKM, Jet Chip ( i know POS) and Bassaini Exhaust.

  • its a E1 and its a straight 3L swap with headers and flowmaster muffler thats about it and its dynotuned 203FWH and 210 FWT
