  • Please don't try this at home.We were taught how to twirl fire knives from the age of 10 and it's in our blood. This guy is David and he is good. But I have seen better no offence to Dave himself!!!

  • COMO SE LLAMA EL¿ALGUIEN SABE ESTAN LINDOOOOOOOOOOOOO*O*

    The song is "Le Feu".

  • @alladinmoua thank you

  • I want to play fire too

    I love playing fire :)

  • samoan fire dancer !!!

  • I love the contact light and when he sets the floor on fire at 1:24

this is absolutely ridiculous, I can't even fathom spinning that fast

  • quisiera saber como se llama o q tipo de musica es la q esta tocando el hombre del tambor.

  • Could any body tell me the length of that staff?

  • The best part of Alegria is the fact that the music fits perfectly well with the act. Definitely magical music... love it!!! Kudos to our fellow Samoan buddy that's now going big places :)

  • Who can tell me where I can find the music ot that act. I could listen it all day long..

  • 13 fools received third degree burns trying this at home

  • Am i the only one who thinks the guy looks like sylvester stallone???

  • @staaab11 LOL it's the make-up for sure hahaha

  • OMG, thats fantastic! :)

  • ESTE ACTO NO TIENE NADA DE G A Y

..............Y SI ASI FUERA ESO NO LE KITA LO ESPECTACULAR

  • The bottom of feet aren't very good heat conductors. So yeah.

  • I do this myself but not as extreme as he does it

  • The fire dance was performed by a Samoan/Tongan guy. Its a Polynesian tradition which is taught and passed down from early generations. Some of the signature moves I've seen here is clearly the Samoan style of fire dance. It is called "ailao afi", this can be done with a blade too. Here's another video to show some of the same signature moves done by 3 young gents. These kids were taught at a young age so they've mastered the art in their own unique way.

    watch?v=7uxUNyQ_c1E&feature=relmfu

  • i like the hand drums

  • You people confuse me haha. I'd thought it was the type of fire the Chinese used a long time ago to relieve pain. The Chinese would take the fire into the hands, as the man in the video did, and spread it on the area where the person felt pain and then the flames would quickly die out.

  • AAAAAGGG! WHEN HE PUT THE FLAMES ON HIS FEET, I WAS LIKE, ARE YOU NUTS, DUDE!!!!!?????? 2:28

  • When I saw this live there were two people doing this, was the other one absent?

  • @FuzzyLittleWolf12

This was filmed in 2001. Back then, the fire-knife dance was a solo act.

  • @FuzzyLittleWolf12 Well, Cirque acts tend to change over time. Some performers are changed, or are added. It also varies whether it was a matinee or an evening show.

  • 11 people got burn't

  • 2:28 "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DID I AGREE TO THIS SHIT!?!?!?!?!?"

  • uhmm., can you stop criticizing this video., just watch and enjoy/. because not all of us knows how to play the stick with fire, me my self dont even know how to do some simple acrobats....

  • Cirque du Soleil the best show I ever saw

  • that guy is cool as fuck with those fire rods! imagine him bringing the olympian flame to the games in such a manner.. haha, that would just rule.

  • @xxxblackvenomxxx: Wow, now THAT'S a really good idea...the Olympian flame lit by Cirque du Soleil! Splendid!

  • Fire HOT

    Knife SHARP

    there does that help

  • Wonderful, maravilhoso!

  • does this guy still do the act?

  • I was just waiting for him to mess up... but this is perfection.

  • @msxblackxvelvetx lol me too

  • fire poi is such a unique art. I can't wait till this x-mas...then I get to join the fire poiist.

  • B-B-B-BIRDMANG!!!

  • to those of you who are wondering how he didn't burn his foot and leg, I think (not positive) that it was body burning/fire painting

  • it must be extremely hot! i want that for my screensaver!

  • It is truly spectacular what the human body is capable of.

  • increilbe! me encanta q ueno q vayan a venir a Peru jejej seria xvr hacer eso cn el fuego...no se qemara??

  • ♥♫•*¨*•.¸¸•♫♥d(-_-)b♥♫•¸¸.•*¨*•♫♥

  • @dclipe First of all - I AM RELATED to HIM and he is MY cousin because his paternal grandmother who passed away was my grandmother's older sister. WHO ARE YOU? And why the defensive tone? So if he's half-Samoan, he's STILL Tongan too. His father is Tongan. Are you related to his mother? She must be Samoan if you're saying he's half. We're all Polynesians and Pacific Islanders anyway.

  • what the name of the song played?!!!!

  • the music is so awesome.

  • damn that fire must hurt on his feet

  • That's my cousin, Karl Sanft performing the fire knife dance. He's of Tongan heritage if anyone was wondering:o)

  • @petakaihau actually he's half Tongan and half Samoan! you should know this....if you are his cousin!

  • Bangin music! Epic bodies! Barely any clothes! FiiiiiREEe! .... WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE??

  • @MANUAINc ur a fucking idiot!

  • i remeber that guy. somethin out of this world.

  • I saw this today at the Bi-Lo Center! It was great, I would love to go again

  • Oh this is such a beautiful performance!

  • there´s some spiritus on the floor. or gasoiline. something with a low flaming point

  • Impresionante,super impresionante!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oooooh he can fire me up when ever he wants! jajaja his so hot!

  • Does anyone know how they get the stage to burn...without burning?

  • they probably use something like liter fluid. if you you put some on the sidewalk, the fire will only burn the fluid... lol dont try it on carpet :P

  • lol probably A good that you don't try it on the carpet. And this is similar to the fire acts at a Hawaiian luau

  • It's probably something just like hairspray. You know how hairspray will burn but the thing under it wont burn?

  • grew up watching this guy dance knife at disney when i was little..he was baddassssss then, and STILL is! amazing video! :)

  • t mon idole o`ney

  • nice work

  • GOOOOD!

  • saw it live. AMAZING!!!! WOULD SEE IT 1000000 times!!!!!!! yes it is real fire, they put some special stuff on his skin so he doesnt get burned

  • No, they usually don't put anything on the skin. The people that do this usually have really thick skin, or calluses developed. Also, the padding of your foot is the area with the thickest skin, the blue part of the flame, is also the coolest part, which allows him to do that.

  • Haha, yes you're correct. When I saw Alegria live, I was like what the hell, is that even possible? And you could smell and see the smoke from up front, so it was real. Then I researched it and you're spot-on.

  • Yeah, helps if you're studying early for medical school xD All these Cirque videos help wonders. You'd be surprised xD

  • Haha yes, exactly. I'm going into 1st year for med school in september :D Jesus, are you psychic @.@

  • ya i fireknife dance and u dont put anything on ur boddy after awhile it does hurt

  • the blue part is the coolest part huh? why comment if you don't know what your talking about.

  • the blue part is the hottest part. just because its blue doesnt mean its cool. also the pad of your foot is one of the most sensitive places on your body, connected directly to your brain. maybe you shouldnt make comments without looking things up first so you dont look stupid.

  • yea I remeber learning that in chemistry class about a year ago.

  • @teresaxt theres gel on it so that it won't burn as much

  • @teresaxt The blue part of the flame is the coolest one by 250°C... Lol... how do you come to the stupid conlucsion, it's the hottest one???

  • @SirRosco umm no its one of the hottest and even brighter still the brighter the blue. SCIENCE!!!

  • @tss7s9 WHAT ?! This is a regular flame...!!! Not a Bunsen burner flame !!! oO

  • @SirRosco Any flame's blue part is the hottest. You can look it up on almost any site and they would all say that.

  • @TingTingGu quest.nasa.gov/space/teachers/mg/images/cf4.gif

Here you can look it up... It's by the NASA actually :D Lol... I feel like everyone is kidding me... xD

  • @SirRosco but did they show the temperature of the blue spot? It just said "blue," and that was it. Yes, the temperature of the other parts was shown, but not the blue part.

  • @TingTingGu It's between "Dead Space 600°C" and "Orange Space 800°C". The more shiny parts are "1000°C" and higher "1200°C"... You guys mix it up with the Bunsen burner flame where indeed the blue part is the hottest at full air supply. But the Cirque du Soleil artist just works with a shiny flame and not a Bunsen burner flame^^

  • @teresaxt Whoa really? the pad of my foot is connected to my brain?! I didn't knew that :D

  • @teresaxt actually white is the hottest in fire

  • @Ac1dlicous who cares..this is still amazing

  • @teresaxt its the tip of the inner flame thats the hottest part not the bottom.

  • i doubt it.. most fire performers will spin bare skinned...

  • That's really fire, i mean, is that possible?

  • Nice tosses. =D

  • amazing!! , hey somebody can tell me the name of the song??

  • @xkronick It's called Le Fau, or something like that. I know that the name is on the Cirque Tribune

  • To people who are freaking out about this - it's actually not unbearably hot to burn lighter fluid off your skin. The heat from a fire goes UP - and because skin burns at a much higher temperature than the accelerant, the fire burns itself out in moments with nothing further to feed it. It's actually HOTTER to pass the flame under your skin, which he does several times. The hottest part of a flame is above it, not below it.

  • i love you

  • I'm in love.

I wonder how many times he burnt himself while practicing? Ouch!

    Power to him!

  • me a gustado este video mucho esta muy bueno se lo rrecomiendo a velo XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD

  • W0w Amazing !

  • i like that guy ..he is amazing ...and i love that song &that music .

  • i like how they make him look like native hawaiian or something it works well

  • @monterrey0love the type of dance and the signature moves is of a Samaon culture fire dance. it's part of the polynesian culture. but all the moves represents a Samoan type of fire dancing. We call it Ailao Afi

  • @monterrey0love he isnt?!

    wow they got me

    i love their whole show!

  • I mean, I'd say that was pretty fucking amazing.

  • per vedere questo spettacolo avrei pagato oro perche e troppo bello complimenti a questi artisti

  • How did he put the torch on his feet without setting them on fire!?!

  • Comment removed

  • He's probably either covered with a flame-retardant.

  • Oh, ok.

  • he put it on his heels where its usually callused up. no flame-retardent needed

  • you know how some people walk on hot coals? well since that part of your foot has the thickest skin on your body, that probably allowed him to temporarily hold the torches there. I'm sure it was still a bit warm though. I want to know how he held the flame in his hand.

  • ala verga o.o

  • This is just plain amazing. Beyond words.

  • them things must be soaked to the bone in paraffin or theyd just go out at that speed!

  • I love it

I practice this I am very good at it but I am not near his level this guy is amazing beyond explaination

    WOW !!

  • super!!!

  • i went watching this and there was two peoplee doing the fire thingg =/ amazingg though it was actually the best thing ive ever seen :) x

  • well then come to sevilla we r in spain now i can get u up 40% discount,m security co ordinator now in that circus

  • Wow this is amazing. They have to do this perfect like every time.. Miscalculate once and your in flames.

  • This show is amazing. I just wish I could see it live. Alegria is too incredible for words.

  • he isnt getting burnt, when he touches the end of the sticks he picks some lighter fluid on his hands form the rags and that burns instead of him. the foot thing needs a high pain threshold, though on teh bottoms of your feet you have thick skin. though undoubtably this guy is great though, i love all cirque du soli acts

  • DANG this guy must be a firebender ALA Avatar: The Last Airbender. Either that or he is a part firebender. I don't know HOW he isn't getting burnt.

  • that doesn't burn?

  • WOW! this show is very beautiful

I practice this sport and I hope to have success!

by Cirque du Soleil because there !!!!!!!

and help me find my passion!

  • must be a bit hot no?

  • why is one end bigger than the other?

  • the longer end has a blade attached to it on the actual stick itself..then the blade and the other end of the stick get covered with wood and other material so that they can light them

  • This show is infinitely more entertaining while high.

  • but its excellent while being straight anyway

  • True, the amount of muscle control and timing this stuff takes is astronomical.

  • Mágico e encantador. Muito bom.

  • O M G

  • Imagine him in a lightsaber fight

  • hehe i can actually picture that hehe hilarious

  • Hed be like Darth Maul lol

  • como puede ser

  • I just want to sayy HOOOLYY MACCARRROOONNIII!!! That was aw3som3.... Perfectly perfection!

  • good job MALO i can tell that this guy is Samoan so i know good on him he is showing to every1 the siva afi good job SAMOAN REP HARD CHOOOOOOOHOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO........
