  • One of my favorite Liz Carrol tunes, Great to see it live!

  • holy.... i laughed out loud at one point. this is so much fun. thanks for posting!

  • is that larry nugent there to liz's right? i know they play a lot together i chicago. he looks great...lost a ton of weight.

  • No, that's Sean Doyle. John's father. Google Sean Doyle and go to videos, the first one is of Sean and John playing a song at the same festival.

  • yeah that is Larry and he does look good. Larry lives life to the fullest. avoring every moment.

  • Why isn't Larry playing?

  • John's playing a Martin, maybe a D35, tuned DADGBE

  • Actually a D-28 in this video.

  • As in what kind of guitar or what?

  • Does anyone know what johns playing through this tune?

  • John plays through a DI box - forgot what kind.

  • Love this song. I got to attend a workshop with liz and john at the port townsend fiddle fest. truly amazing.

  • i am really growing to like john doyle's playing amazing

  • I just love this reel - a real fiddle reel.

  • lost in the loop im playing this jig, amazing!!!

  • it's a reel

  • check out

Kevin mckrell and The Hard Road Céilidh Band

    for some more great fiddle

  • great stuff

  • I heard Liz and John first at the Laurel Theater in Knoxville, TN (they brought the house down!). Now that I've moved to Bend, Oregon I'd love to get them up to Central Oregon for our music fests here! Keep those feet tappin' Liz and John!

  • what are these tunes called?

  • lost in the loop

  • Why do I find these kind of reels so boring and repetitive. Nothing in them.

  • I don't know. They're repetitive in form, but it gives a lot of room for interpretation and improv, and little twists in ornamentation, if you'll let it. Have a listen to the version by Darol Anger and the American Republic of Strings.

  • Perhaps it is just not your style? Nothing wrong with that. I love it, but I also love other stuff like metal (Opeth, Maiden, Metallica), Latin (Rodrigo y Gabriela, Johannes Linstead, Mana), Prog Rock (Rush, Pink Floyd, Fates Warning, Genesis...) There's little subtleties that you might not be catching...

  • excellent from liz. and john!

  • Thanks so much! YouTube needs all the John and Liz it can get!:)
