  • Acually blue jays are aloud to be kept as pets

  • '

yess keep this bird with a person at home as a pet

  • u know..... it is illegal to take care of any migrotory birds in the united states.... I know stupid law right

  • I got a blue Jay that was hurt by a squirrel and when we left it the parents tried to kill her so we kept her she is doing well the SPCA did not what her. She is eating pooping and drinking well.

  • i found one that was much more developed but not developed enough to fly so i put it in a butter container up in my tree but it kept flying out. it took 2 days for the moth to finaaly find it and me to keep picking it up and putting it back in. i hope he will do well this winter. mom seemed to provide him only the leftovers since he was in another tree.

  • moth=mother sorry lol

  • i just took in a baby blue jay today too! how long did it take you to rehabilitate it and what did you feed it? thanks!

  • We fed it wet cat food bits. Takes about 6 weeks to get him out.

  • I just saw 2 baby chicks like this on my front lawn, I approached them and they didn't move or seemed scared whatsoever. I was a little worried about them because they were in the open lawn and they were so oblivious to people approaching that they would make easy prey for a cat but the two parents where there swatting at me, so I just let those two chicks be, I hope they allright.

  • You killed them, way to go.

  • @jay733 good job, it's usually hard to leave little animals alone, but if you can see parents around, it's almost always best to leave them be.

  • @jay733 You did the right thing! The only time you should take in a baby bird is when they are completely abandoned, injured or threatened(cat, other animal, human). Example; over a week ago I noticed a baby blackbird. He looked alone, wasn't afraid of us.... however, I saw the parents watching us. We left him be as his parents are there and do a better job raising. A week later I saw him again, healthy and lively as can be... his mom close by looking on.

  • I always believed that the Blue Jay laid her egg in another birds nest and it is reared by that other bird ...

  • No, that is a Cuckoo bird. Hence the phrase, "You were a cuckoo's egg." Meaning a bastard.

  • Brown-headed cowbirds do that too

  • Ahhh, guess there's a welfare support in most species .. lol

  • its the same age as the one i found an hour ago

  • He's cute, but he's got a retarded neck. I love birds.

  • lol its growing feathers XD

  • do you got any chicks?

  • Sweetness is adorable. We just released a bluejay we hand-reared a couple days ago. How is yours doing?

  • He won't leave. I'm getting kind of sick of him.

  • Would you post a recent pic of him? The bluejay we raised is outide full time but he still follows us everywhere we go in the yard. He still wants to be hand-fed sometimes too. We love it.

  • Sweetness flew away unexpectedly with his mom and dad, but he comes by time to time to the feeder. I'll try to get a picture. He doesn't come to us anymore. Bastard.

  • i lmao when i saw this XD
