Does anyones Intruder ever lose all electrical power randomly? I have an 86 700, and it will just cut out. But after a day or two of going back and forth, throwing a fit, it will be fine for months before it does it again...
@gal8pwsc Yes that has happened on my intruder, the positive lead to the battery had a broken wire at the terminal and I had to replace it. I would check the battery cables for broken wires or loose connections.
@brocksbikes Yep, same thing happened to my 87 VS 700. Battery cable was loose. It was funny, because it would only happen when my friend (weighed 200+ lbs) sat on the bike to borrow it. Turns out that the extra pressure of his weight somehow affected the wiring.
I have an 87 Intruder 700 with 40k miles and I think that these bikes are one of the best suzuki every made. Not an oil leak anywhere and not even the headgaskets have leaked oil onto the outside like you see on so many older bikes. I think the water cooled engine has a lot to do with the durability. It never gets very hot and the only time the fan kicked on is when I got stuck in traffic on the interstate during the summer down in Florida some years back. Maintenance is very important!!
@paintball53master No not at all. You do have to work on it from time to time, just little things since it isn't a brand new bike, but it's been a perfect bike. This was my Father's first bike and he bought it in 1998 from the 2nd owner, and we still have it. today. I ride it daily and it runs great and is definitely a good riding bike.
YES CHECK THE BOX UNDER THE SET THE PLUG MAYBE IS LOSE.
