Goalie should have come out of the net and blasted this guy for all his worth. At that point who cares about the puck in or not. Hit a hot shot hard and good 2 or 3 times in a game and he is useless from far out, due to fear of getting to close to the goalie and getting hit again. There's no guarantee any move will work 100% of the time. This move should work most of the time if you make a few assumptions. 1) The goalie takes the bait on the shot fake. 2) The shooter doesn't lose the puck trying to finish the dangle. 3) The goalie doesn't make a phenomenal recovery from losing his jock and is able to get back to the other side of the net to make the save -- hard to do when a player is moving in on you as fast as Datsyuk does and has hands as sick as he does.

Both goals by the pens were the fault of two red wings: Brad Stuart and Chris Osgood. Osgood was way out of position on the second goal, he completely gave him the glove side. And his stick wasn't in position for the first goal; he's garbage. Seriously, if u really think the pens are an all-around better team then u don't know much.
At first I didn't care which team won, I just wanted a good series. But as the series went on I noticed that the Pens were starting to play really dirty, especially in the 5-0 game. Kunitz punching Helm, Talbot hacking at Datsyuk's injured foot, Malkin hitting Franzen in the face with his stick on a high hit, Crosby hacking at Z's leg. Not a very disciplined team, and that was one game. The pens pretty much acted like a bunch of ducks out there, and I just think that's not good hockey.
I don't know if you noticed, but the refs called the finals completely different from how they called the entire regular season. Every time the red wings would dump and chase, the pens d would hold them up long enough for there to be an interference call during the reg season, but not the finals series. There should be consistency in the officiating. Sorry for ranting, but I just can't see how anyone could actually think that the pens are better than the red wings.

when the wings role players stopped scoring, the wings ran outta gas. the pens did a fine job of stopping the wings weapons, and vice versa. pens D is deep as shit. wings D is probably better, and anaheims is too, and those might be the only ones. pens earned the cup. 5-0 may have been the only blowout, but the pens outplayed the wings in games 1 and 2. pens held their own in every other game but 5. wings could have been out in 4, should have been out in 5, went out in 7. good for tv ratings
I really don't get it when people say that osgood turns his game on during the playoffs, because he doesn't. It's more likely that the rest of the team turns up the power and allow fewer scoring chances on osgood. Yes, Fleury is definitely better than osgood. The pens are not deeper than the wings, not by a long shot. Samuelsson, Franzen, Hudler, Cleary, Draper, Filppula, Helm; pens don't have such skilled players.

Draper. I still don't understand why some people think Staal is good. He constantly makes plays that make me wonder if he has any hockey sense at all. I can't count how many times he ends up just giving the puck away, be it a weak shot on goal with no traffic or a blind pass that's way off mark. If it weren't for his size and strength, I don't even think he would be in the NHL. His goal on osgood would be stopped by any competent goalie (one that doesn't flop on the ice on every play).
listen, im not a staal fan, but he had two really good series'. the flyers series, and then again during the wings series. however, his linemates had lots to do with that too. hes young though. hes younger than me by a few months... theres lots of upside to him. well see if he ever can be what his potential will allow him to be. that being said, hes slow and sloppy. his pking is good but thats it. o well. and yea, osgood sucks. i never disagreed. but he wins, and sometimes thats all that counts.
He does get wins, put you could replace him with a younger goalie with a better style and the younger goalie would also win. I truly believe that Osgood's recent success(?) is because he is on one of the best teams in the NHL. The red wings win and he happens to be their goalie. The red wings organization puts way too much blind faith in his abilities.

Just look at Osgood's stats. They're awful, except for games won. Osgood has never been good. He did poorly on every team he was on, then goes to the wings as a backup. Hasek gets pulled and osgood is given a shot. The wings start playing very well and keep winning, so they leave osgood in. Osgood was so bad during reg season that they told him to take a vacation and get centered again. Why did anybody expect him to all of a sudden turn on the magic? Wings just played well enough the first time.
Wings have had a top-end defense for awhile. The reason they surrendered 244 goals this year was because of Osgood's terrible play. His stats say it all, he only wins games because Wings have arguably the most talented team in the league outside of him. He's nowhere near talented as Luongo, Broduer, or even Mason who's like 20 years old.

Goalie should have come out of the net and blasted this guy for all his worth. At that point who cares about the puck in or not. Hit a hot shot hard and good 2 or 3 times in a game and he is useless from far out, due to fear of getting to close to the goalie and getting hit again. I've yet to see someone dangle at the blue line and still score on a good goalie?

There's no guarantee any move will work 100% of the time. This move should work most of the time if you make a few assumptions. 1) The goalie takes the bait on the shot fake. 2) The shooter doesn't lose the puck trying to finish the dangle. 3) The goalie doesn't make a phenomenal recovery from losing his jock and is able to get back to the other side of the net to make the save -- hard to do when a player is moving in on you as fast as Datsyuk does and has hands as sick as he does.

You cannot be serious. Osgood was so awful during the regular season that they told him to take a 10-day vacation to get himself centered. Look at his stats. The only stat worth mentioning is games won, which is hard to fuck up when you play on one of the best teams in the league. Did u even see the two goals scored on him in game 7? Watch the second goal again and notice ozzie's position in relation with the puck and the net. What's ozzie's style? Flop on the ice and hope the puck hits him?

Both goals by the pens were the fault of two red wings: Brad Stuart and Chris Osgood. Osgood was way out of position on the second goal, he completely gave him the glove side. And his stick wasn't in position for the first goal; he's garbage. Seriously, if u really think the pens are an all-around better team then u don't know much.

At first I didn't care which team won, I just wanted a good series. But as the series went on I noticed that the Pens were starting to play really dirty, especially in the 5-0 game. Kunitz punching Helm, Talbot hacking at Datsyuk's injured foot, Malkin hitting Franzen in the face with his stick on a high hit, Crosby hacking at Z's leg. Not a very disciplined team, and that was one game. The pens pretty much acted like a bunch of ducks out there, and I just think that's not good hockey.

I don't know if you noticed, but the refs called the finals completely different from how they called the entire regular season. Every time the red wings would dump and chase, the pens d would hold them up long enough for there to be an interference call during the reg season, but not the finals series. There should be consistency in the officiating. Sorry for ranting, but I just can't see how anyone could actually think that the pens are better than the red wings.

Like I said earlier, Osgood was probably the biggest factor between winning and losing in nearly every game. Everybody, except for Babcock, knows that Osgood is awful and is the wings' biggest problem. Staal's goal, both of Talbot's goals, all would be stopped by Conklin. You can't honestly think that the pens have a better team than the red wings, even after the pens won the cup. All of the games were close, besides the 5-0 win by det, so how could u say that the wings were the lucky ones?

when the wings role players stopped scoring, the wings ran outta gas. the pens did a fine job of stopping the wings weapons, and vice versa. pens D is deep as shit. wings D is probably better, and anaheims is too, and those might be the only ones. pens earned the cup. 5-0 may have been the only blowout, but the pens outplayed the wings in games 1 and 2. pens held their own in every other game but 5. wings could have been out in 4, should have been out in 5, went out in 7. good for tv ratings

I really don't get it when people say that osgood turns his game on during the playoffs, because he doesn't. It's more likely that the rest of the team turns up the power and allow fewer scoring chances on osgood. Yes, Fleury is definitely better than osgood. The pens are not deeper than the wings, not by a long shot. Samuelsson, Franzen, Hudler, Cleary, Draper, Filppula, Helm; pens don't have such skilled players.

Draper. I still don't understand why some people think Staal is good. He constantly makes plays that make me wonder if he has any hockey sense at all. I can't count how many times he ends up just giving the puck away, be it a weak shot on goal with no traffic or a blind pass that's way off mark. If it weren't for his size and strength, I don't even think he would be in the NHL. His goal on osgood would be stopped by any competent goalie (one that doesn't flop on the ice on every play).

listen, im not a staal fan, but he had two really good series'. the flyers series, and then again during the wings series. however, his linemates had lots to do with that too. hes young though. hes younger than me by a few months... theres lots of upside to him. well see if he ever can be what his potential will allow him to be. that being said, hes slow and sloppy. his pking is good but thats it. o well. and yea, osgood sucks. i never disagreed. but he wins, and sometimes thats all that counts.

I truly believe that Osgood's recent success(?) is because he is on one of the best teams in the NHL. The red wings win and he happens to be their goalie. Just look at Osgood's stats. They're awful, except for games won. Osgood has never been good. He did poorly on every team he was on, then goes to the wings as a backup. Hasek gets pulled and osgood is given a shot. The wings start playing very well and keep winning, so they leave osgood in. Osgood was so bad during reg season that they told him to take a vacation and get centered again. Why did anybody expect him to all of a sudden turn on the magic? Wings just played well enough the first time.

Wings have had a top-end defense for awhile. The reason they surrendered 244 goals this year was because of Osgood's terrible play. His stats say it all, he only wins games because Wings have arguably the most talented team in the league outside of him. He's nowhere near talented as Luongo, Broduer, or even Mason who's like 20 years old.
