  • I first heard this song at age 10 in 1980. I played it on an old fashioned record player.

I can see my innocent self, wow those were good times, very good times indeed.

  • boo yah!

  • This song was 30 years ago no.32 in the german year-end-charts #john #lennon

  • Since the day i was born my dad has always been playing john lennon. At first when i heard john Lennon i didn't like it. when i was around five i started thinking how crazy i was when i was a couple of years old. John and the Beatles are awesome and till this day my dad still plays them. i may have grown up to rappers and hip hop stars but what i noticed is the true beauty of music came form the old days. I <3 john lennons singing and the beatlles. =D

  • Sad, but Brilliant!!!!!!!!!

  • @LegendKnight93 it IS THE ANTI CHRIST MOST LIKELY BECAUSE ITS DOING EXACTLY WAT THE ANTI CHRIST WOULD DO IT IS GAINING POWER AND CORRUPTING KIDS AND RUINING THE WORLD SO YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheBlueBeatle3 im sorry im a french student (QUE!? no hablo espanol!)

  • @thegame3623 I said. "go to google translate. Damn! You have the freaking internet and all you know is to look for pornography!" It's a joke! Not to be taken seriously. But man! You have the internet! It's not just for networking, it is also be used to help you learn and expand your education or knowledge (:

  • @TheBlueBeatle3 ur weird!

  • @TheBlueBeatle3 ur weird!im a chick so that joke doesnt make sense.

  • @thegame3623 And you're knowledge on the use for internet (and understanding of what I meant) is as big as the size of a peanut. And it CAN and the joke makes PERFECT sense, you'd have to be stupid not to understand but you are, so I understand why you can't comprehend it. Lastly, it's better to be "weird" then stupid. (:

  • I can't thank you enough for posting these. I prefer the stripped down versions of all of these songs, you can hear the music much better!

  • just stop it! Leave John alone. He already gave us two virgins If that wasnt enough . "well fuck you brother or sister. Im not here for you. Im here for her and now the baaaabyyyy"! J.L. 1980

  • I was a little dissapointed in the stripped down album. It seems like they didn't know whether to make a tight, new version of the album or make it sound like alternate takes with stuff that John would have probably wanted out of the mix. I mean "Woman" sounds like a demo. It's pretty rough sounding. Some of John's vocals seem thrown in all over the place. When you hear them you know why they were not in the actual mix. So why leave them in here? "Clean up time" and "Beautiful boy" are my favs.

  • yeah, sounds clean! miss the harmonies and backup singers tho

  • @ExitosGnosis dude you can hear how happy he was this song means a lot to me right now my kids are 16 and my 17 year okd turnr 18 jan22 the same day i turn 38 my husband treats me like his queen and we aii are in a new wonderful place in all lives and i just really listen to it over the holliday

  • the fact is the songs he recorded in 1980 are his best ever solo apart from plastic ono band put all 14 songs of his from double fantasy and milk and honey on one album and it would have been a classic

  • @guitars742 agreed! Though I would put Imagine up there as well as Plastic Ono.

  • one of the best rock n roll voices ever

  • Great song!!!!!!!

  • okay whats with the hate on yoko he loved her dearly and everyone doesnt get it like come on they were in love and they were amazing together grow up people

  • I just listened to Watching the Wheels stripped down and it made more sense that way than this one. I do love hearing the rawness of John's voice, but there's some sense of betrayal going on here with the powers that be.

  • I think that Yoko could have gone off and licensed out all of John's stuff to anybody and everybody, and seriously cashed in on everything his estate could rake in, but she didn't. She could have made deals for John Lennon coffee mug busts, and those tacky subscription plates that other famous, departed rocker has been emblazoned on. She has really done an excellent job of preserving his memory, his art, and his love. I still believe that even though I see no point in this release.

  • WOW - The greatest man who ever lived sounds better than ever on this stripped down version.

  • This just brings me to tears. Its bitter sweet. Your hearing John as John, its wonderful, Beautiful and happy. Then you think what the world has missed out on in the last 30 years. Thank God for his music that will never grow old and can never be murdered.

  • I love how 'live' it sounds, though I do miss the female background vocals.

  • Dec.,central park. be there!

  • I love it!! Johns voice is raw and real not tweaked around and made to sound so over produced and perfect. Cheers JOHN!!

  • I've always liked this song when it was played live because you can hear the guitars more than all of the production on the original version. Plus, you can hear John's voice more to me here. This kinda sounds like (had he lived), what we would've heard had he played this song live.

  • Is it his real voice, now?

Fuck, it is really possible to sing like that.

  • In some ways it sounds more intimate but it loses the doo-wop throwback feeling John intended.

  • Taking instruments out of the mix and editing some minor details don't sound like a good enough reason to re-realease an album to me. A shame Yoko doesn't think the same.

  • i prefer the '80 version of this song

  • wow!

  • yeah i'm loving it..

  • @danutcase66 phil spector never worked on double fantasy it was jack douglas and david geffen of geffen records...get it right...

  • Excellent, but that bass needs to stand out more! :D

  • @danutcase66 there is still delay/echo on his voice, but it is not as overdramatic as the normal version

  • yoko...do me a favor and stop 'stripping' john.

  • and ya know what...yeah this sounds great.cause everything lennon does sounds great. this is by no means better than the original which (and it isnt a secret) john loved..or it wouldnt have been released. i don't see the point at all.

  • c'mon..the best way to 'strip down' this album and make it better would be to 'leave' off yokos songs. if you don't agree then your lying to yourself. or dumb

  • @frazettastone combine all the John tracks from Milk and Honey (stripped down) with Double Fantasy and take off Yoko's stuff.

  • @frazettastone We get it, you don't like Yokosongs. I can't wait for the stripped down versions of McCartney songs that single out Linda's voice to show how she couldn't sing either. Originally I went on here to rip off some of the supposed incredible versions of Double Fantasy songs. Maybe I am dumb, because I haven't found one yet. Cheers

  • @rnamoo2009 its not a 'yeah yeah we get it-you don't like yokosongs'. its a 'i don't like lame disco songs on an otherwise beautiful john lennon record. at least the songs linda wrote or contributed to werent that bad. yeah yeah i get it-theres a tape of her live backing vocals out of key. there are also alott isolated solo mcartney vocal/harmony trax that are great.bluebird for instance.

  • @frazettastone the eleven people who liked this comment and the person who made it don't understand John and are uninteresting if they can't appreciate "Kiss Kiss Kiss" and "Give Me Something." They were good on the original album, now they're even better.

  • @frazettastone the yoko bashing is tired and so direspectful of John Lennon who was completely in love with and devoted to her....i admire his balls for standing by his woman and not succumbing to peer pressure. we should all be so lucky to find that level of TRUE love, intimacy, friendship and creative collaboration. and if you can't admit that you are lying to yourself or emotionally dumb. hope neither is the case for you.

  • @biggoodness i agree 100% ('cept the end).its 2010 not 1970 we r all awareof the love between the 2. one's still entitled to his opinion.i've never 'bashed' anyone personally (tho u had no problem suggesting i'm emotionally dumb.but i haven't wrote songs that liven your heart like john and i guess 4 you, yoko).i just don't like her music.in fact i love her non-music art, especially her mid-60s NY fluxus work.btw-don't worry about me-i know and have true love AND the 'balls' to have n opinion.MUSIC

  • @biggoodness true dat

  • @flynntay

def the best english rock singer ever

  • @flynntay

def the best english rock singer ever ,listen to him singing dream lover in these sessions proves my point

  • @frazettastone "your lying"? Who's dumb, dude? You don't appreciate art, that's cool, but it doesn't give you the right to denigrate others.

  • @plastichassle1974 i dont denigrate others (though i have every right to). im not at all a bad person. in fact everyone i know consider me very loving. i appreciate art. i've been making it all my life. that doen't mean i have to pour praise onto every peice of art evry made that doesn't speak to me. geez...i'm glad i din't i don't like justin beiber music...i mean art.

  • @frazettastone By insulting her, you're insulting him. He loved her, you should respect that.

  • @CastfireTheAwesome really?? i mean REALLY?? i never insulted her.she'll never read a word i print.and i have no hate toward the woman.but grow up and over your idol worship. i'm sure john disrespected plenty of people who were loved by others.i guess john is excempt.alotta people love jesus but that stop john from respecting them did it? oh..i guess only the feelings of deceased brilliant rock stars matter to you.i love john AND yoko..but i love great music more.n wont back off my music opinion

  • @frazettastone I just finished reading a R.S. issue that had a full transcript of his interview from tapes lost since being recorded- 3 days before he was murdered.

As he said: Some people were pushing really hard for just his stuff + if push had come to shove, there'd have been NO album. So maybe, even if the songs aren't your cup of tea or you would have rather them split instead of alternating: you could just be thankful that she was around to INSPIRE him.

    Just a thought.

  • yeah its good but its nowhere near as good as the original, youde think theyde have learned that you cant improve on perfection, all theyve done is stripped off the bass !! WTF???

  • I like what I am (hearing). Very nice.

  • The new mixes are very good. Much less reverb, you hear Johns voice without the studio effects. Glad they didn't fuck this up. Nice one.

  • Happy 70th John. You made the world more beautiful.

  • Happy birthday John.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN.STILL THE BEST

  • The world hasn't been the same without you John.....Happy Birthday...goo goo ga joob......

  • Love you John. Thanks for all the music!

  • Lennon rock on forever.......

  • Happy 70th birthday John. Keep Imagining. xxx

  • Love the stripped down versions!!!! Thanks Yoko. MORE...

  • Love 'Stripped' it is amazing! The cover art is incredibly done by Sean-wow!!

But the music......OMG........we lost a great soul!

Thank god the music lives forever!!!

  • i love it, but where's the big drum fill in the middle, after the break?

  • Oh My God!!! This is great!!!! John Is Alive In Your Ears!!!!!

  • it's my b-day tomorrow.. i know what i'm getting

  • @tigerwoodsondxm Did you get it?

  • @tigerwoodsondxm you already got it tiger woods (happy balaided b-day dude that joke is my b-day present to u)

  • @tigerwoodsondxm mah too!

  • Never knew the guitar at the beginning was out of tune. That's a bit of a surprise.

  • Just bought this album today. I was also going to buy the Lennon Sig. Box Set bought they didn't have it =\ ALSO iTunes is giving this song AWAY FOR FREE. Just thought I'd let everyone know if you don't already.

  • This sounds great!

  • Words cannot describe how amazing Lennon sounds with nothing on his voice and singing dry. He was a genius.

  • I got the "Stripped Down" CD today and it is incredible. Johns vocals are crisp and clear and the new mixes sound so fresh. "Cleanup Time" and "Watching the Wheels" are absolutely stunning. I particularly like Lennons new spoken coda on "Dear Yoko" and the beautiful acoustic intro to "Woman". It feels like John is performing those songs in your own room!!

  • man its in stores today omg im getting it!!

  • Love it

  • This is pretty cool, I dont think its better than the original, but it feels different to it, John seems happier in this, but the original did sort of feel like a send off. :'(

  • where did you get this? i love both this and the original.

  • Wasn't sure how I would feel about this but I love it. Just wonderful.

  • I still perfer the original... But I do love the extended into and ending!

  • In such short period of time, John Lennon recorded these songs, along with Yoko and Jack Douglas. I was only 4 when he died, but I found myself revisiting "Double Fantasy" and "Milk and Honey" for years to come. What a treasure of voice, music, sound! And now.. this stripped down version.. it really hits me. I'm used to hearing these songs bathed in reverb and overdubs, like John intended them to be, but this is bold, adventurous, fascinating.. with even a subtle autotune moment at 0:37 :-)

  • This is the most beautiful thing ever.

  • I can't wait to hear Watching the Wheels and Woman in their stripped down forms. Wonder what Kiss Kiss Kiss and Yes, I'm Your Angel sound like in the raw?

  • They should also do this with "Milk & Honey". It was always like a "Double Fantesy Volume 2" anyway. I'd love to hear "Nobody Told Me" like this.

  • John Lennon lives... more than Elvis!!!

    Love you John!

  • Way better than the original! I always thought John's solo albums were way overproduced (except for POB, of course!) Wonder what "I'm Losing You" will be like -- supposedly Yolko kicked Cheap Trick out of the studio... Search Lennon Cheap Trick on youtube to hear the bootleg

  • where did you get this?

sounds great, anyway. i like it more than the original!!

  • great

  • QUE BIEN SE OYE!!!!!

  • Thanks for posting. I still like the album version better. But it could just be that I'm used to it and it's the version I knew from the start.

  • @beatlesfab1 but the spectacular thing about this is that, its modifies and you can hear mainly his voice. instead of the background singers. because parts of this i haven't on the 1980 album and this 2010 modified puts his voice more out there.

  • @GJHC1 Yeah, I know. But I guess to me the background singers added ab extra element to the song. But I have to admit that when I hear the one with the background singers, it makes me more sad. I can't put it in words exactly why.

  • @beatlesfab1 interesting, I think exactly like you do. The backing-vocals give the song a sad mood...

  • @beatlesfab1 It does me that way too, and it's because I was around at the time, and it got MASSIVE amounts of radio time. It reminds me of that time. Makes the murder seem like it just happened.
