It's a valid discussion...I think the ONLY thing at which I balk (and the only thing which I disagree), is the FINAL comment you made in re: control as it refers to safety. I can't imagine an 'unlimited' world authorized by an institution where disregard of the safety of our children would become a VERY real and frightening possibility (think the MySpace-inspired suicide of last year). There has to be some institutional measure of safety, even if it limits access to some peer-friendly areas, no?
If everyone had access to the internet 24/7 the world would become just like the one in the movie Wall-e.
