He asked for his badge number after he kicked the door open, at that point, I don't think you'll get much sympathy from the cops. They got what they deserved. If he didn't swing at the cop, run his mouth and actually moved the van when asked, this would not have happened, period.

Arrest someone if they're supposedly doing something wrong. It's still an abuse of power, but at least you're not beating an innocent and helpless person into a bloody mess.

If you can't explain what the issue is, as a cop, and find a civil way to resolve it or at least detain the individual breaking the law, without being a violent prick, you're a disgrace to this country.

These cops need to publicize a good reason as to why these guys were assaulted, or be served supreme consequence.
