  • It's amazing that this is better than the doors version!

  • Jose was at graceland celebrating Elvis' birthday. He sang, and spoke about the day he met Elvis in Tahoe. It's nice to know they were fans of each other.

  • First Latino artist to appear on Soul Train

  • horrible qualty

  • ...the artist is amazing, but whoever recorded this did a really crappy job. Sorry, but it's bad.

  • This song is phenomenal, but this video? SUCKS! The sound is awful, very grating...

  • Love Jose Feliciano..it's the *quality* of the video that is so terrible.

  • A class act.

  • it's just perfect and wonderful

  • caught jose at the cater baron in d.c. great show!

  • this is just so much more melodious and sexier than the doors - FOR THE WIN! don't get me wrong I love the doors but this one belongs to jose hands down

  • sound terrible, singer is marvelous a great person

  • At 2:42 it always sounded like he's saying "I like my pie" over and over.

  • a blind best accoustic guitarist ever!

  • Jose is genius! This cover is incredible, I do love it better, but the original is phenomenal as well... It's just a great desert or beach getaway, road trip, song!..

  • Just Great! I love it!

  • *FANTASTIC*

  • This is a version that inspired Will Young...

  • pure gold

  • The Doors put a raw edge on Light my fire while Jose put a romantic twist on it

  • my pr brother took this one to no# 3, go jose

  • 69 people are blind...

  • Real Music....

  • For ME, as good or even better than the original version. Superb.

  • six-stringed spanish stevie?

  • I'm just gonna say this... It would have been classy to do it today. But to steal a song that soon, I don't think it's respectful of the original artist. He can't say he was paying homage to The Doors. He was only cashing in on a HUGE song of the time.

    btw butchered

  • @FedorfaN79 Dude... he is blind... and playing the guitar...

  • @KronnangDunn So was Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder

never heard them butcher a song

  • @KronnangDunn and it wasn't his guitar playing I was commenting on... I just think it was disrespectful covering that song so soon

  • @FedorfaN79 Done by a fucken commercial doll act like Justin Bieber would be disrespectful, but when a gifted guitar player like Feliciano does it... is a honor.

He is blind... and plays the guitar... that's waaay enough for me.

  • @KronnangDunn beiber is the antichrist.... once again... never said he couldn't play guitar

  • When I first heard this as a teen, I felt it was a travesty to the original. The more I listened, the more I appreciated the beauty of this rendition. Love the acoustic guitar, violins and conga. What a classic.

  • Es gibt glaube ich kein Anderes Musiik Video mit soner verdammt schlechten Qualität das SOOO viele Klicks und POSITIVE Bewertungen hat!!! xD

  • super bad....!!!!!

  • Fuck this pop-shit, he's the Oliver Stone of the 60s

  • I couldn't stand this thumbs up If the original (the doors) is much better than this shit

  • Who are the 66 earmuff wearing dolts who disliked this?!

  • A TRUE GIFT TO MUSIC TY

  • makes me proud to be an EAST LA mexican/american born in Los Angeles in 1967.

  • He's not a composer, but has a tremendous musicality and a powerful, yet incredibly expressive voice. Not an innovator, but a master in every skill and style of popular music. Has no showmanship, but it's always a delight to watch him perform. Has no sight, but can see into the very soul of each song he plays. He's "old fashioned" for some people, but with 65 years his musical quality hasn't aged a single day.

He's José Feliciano... the most underrated musician in the history of popular music.

  • @FumTech uhm.. Jose has composed at least 2 hundred of songs, music for movie and theater and classical orchestras... Jose IS an innovator, was the first artist to add a Nylon spanish guitar with classical fingerstyle on the pop rock music, was the first crossover artist for the latin flavour added on anglo-pop rock music...

For the rest I'm agree with You, he's the most underrated musician in the history of popular music...

  • Muito bom, acho que até o Morrison gostava. Pena que o câmara (ou o diretor de imagem) ficou focalizando apenas o rosto do Jose Feliciano, e quase não se consegue ver a técnica de instrumento dele.

  • One of the greatest recordings of all time. what a fantastic, fabulous song. Unlike anything else, the signature voice of Jose Feliciano. The way this song unravels is like....the gods are singing to us - commemorating us, celebrating us, holding us up to the light to behold to the world the rapture of human love.

  • Send this link to spainobain1234's youtube please!!! Beacuse IT IS POWERFUL!

  • His voice has that unnamed quality that all the greats have

  • I appreciate his attempt but the original will ALWAYS be better.

  • better than the original!

  • Jose's voice is like an instrument too - I have

loved this version all my life.

  • he is great like stevie wonder he is blind too

  • Puede haber iguales, pero mejores que Feliciano? Yo lo dudo, en especial, con Light my fire (logró estar mejor que con The Doors) y la Entrada de Bilbao.

Pero esta grabación realmente no está de las mejores.

  • This sucks, quality sucks, feliciano sucks, version sucks.

  • @dstroost YOU suck.

  • @dstroost

I think you'll find most discerning listeners disagree with you. instead of throwing out cheap jibes, why don't you listen to a version without distortion and bias and you might find there's a reason why people think so highly of him?

  • @dstroost The words of a man whose attempts of making something of his life failed.

  • shit

  • love this version, but the doors are the best.

  • AAaaah! Feliciano Rules!!!!!

  • Genius; stirring; mellow; inspiring and when we heard it, our hearts melted. The Doors blew us away, but Feliciano cruised right into our souls with this song. Unforgettable.

  • recorded too loud

  • man the doors became instant classic. think ybout this: this song came out in 1967. Roadhouse blues did even better, with Status Quo covering it the same year it came out (1970). Wow! By the time those songs were aired, there was muche less hypocrisy and profit in players others' songs, which was, i think, like confirming the value of the song.

  • great singer-

  • Comment removed

  • @NiggerNoseObama Ye not the best sound quality. Awesome version of an awesome song though :)

  • un cover de the doors

  • Jim Morrison really enjoyed Jose Felicano''s Version of "Light My Fire" and often kidded Robbie Krieger who was a professionally trained "Flamenco Guitarist" that his lead guitar in the Doors "Light My Fire" wasn't as good as Jose's as a joke But he may have been right...Dan O'Niallain

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • This song was written in honor of the spicy green salsa I just made.

  • Ray Manzarek?really? more like Robbie Krieger get your facts right

  • @LDSHRCSMT Sorry, Mtndawgs wife here, Kelly Ann. I posted that mis-information. Never saw your response until now. Since then, Wikipedia has either corrected it, or I misread it back then. The rest of my comment is accurate, per Wikipedia. Just trying to make a positive comment, because all the haters were slamming Jose Feliciano. I felt that was not fair, considering he received a Grammy for his version of this song.

  • Light My Fire was written by Ray Manzarek and released in 1967. Jose Feliciano's cover version won a 1969 Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. In that same year, Jose also won a Grammy for Best New Artist. Anyone that doesnt like this is in the minority, yet entitled to their opinion (we all have one, and it is our own). Fact: in 1969 this version was more publicly successful. If it were up to Manzarek, we wouldve been stuck with this song as a Buick Opel TV commercial in 1968-eww!

  • @Mountaindawg So wrong dude, like buddy says it was written by robbie krieger , all ecxept one verse wallow in the mire which jimmy boy decided to throw in there. This is the tune that made them,as for Manzarek he was pretty much the groups business guy . He actually held jim together most of the times the best he could not an easy task, I always wonder how big they woulda got if morrison didnt die, such is life ................... cheers

  • @kidnme101 You are right! I was mis-informed (Wikipedia has corrected it since). Thank you for commenting, or I wouldve never known. I had to comment after all the negative stuff people were writing. This is Mtndawgs wife, Kelly Ann, by the way. I am the pne that moderates the Mountaindawg YouTube channel. You ROCK, kidnme101. :-)

  • @Mountaindawg to correct my post: Robby Krieger actually wrote the song. He was Guitarist for The Doors and an awesome songwriter. He also wrote: Love Her Madly, Touch Me, and Love Me 2 Times. The rest of the info I wrote above is accurate.

  • I have this song in its recorded/released version, and the sound quality is great. I wish the sound on this video did Jose Feliciano justice. Otherwise, thank you for sharing it.

  • This video should be pulled and resubmitted with corrected audio.

  • I love both versions (The Doors and Jose's) of this song. Very different in their approaches, but I get a great song to listen to when either version is playing.

  • Grandioso José Feliciano, cantando "Light My Fire", "Qué será", o cualquier otro tema, que en su voz adquiere una nueva dimensión innovadora, peculiar y sublime con el sello personal que aporta a todas sus canciones. Feliciano Forever!!!

  • Doesn't Jose Feliciano version of Light My Fire make us even more enjoyably melancholy than even Big Jim Morrison's...Dan Nealon

  • @musiclover77able please.. this is not a simple remake..

Jose REWRITE musically & Vocally Light My Fire, not one note is the same of the Doors, how only genius like Jose can do. Also this his arrangments was the most used from other artists; the same Robbie Krieger thanks Jose because after him so many great artists around the world starting to do cover of this song

  • padrisima la version, mi respetos para el sr feliciano es un gran musico de los mejores

  • Covers like this are cool....... i'd rather this than glee fuckin' all the songs i love.......

  • You can grab the audio-mp3 of this video at grabaudios doht cohm.

  • What a great talent.

    Percman

  • A banal pop song turned into a classic.

  • wow what a song! one of those songs that gives you shivers down your kneck!

  • @roylad87 oh i agree-- and no one sang it better than him

  • This music is his! He gave the doors permission to play it... And yes, he's awesome :)

  • @kokasff13 Are you fucking kidding me you ignorant bastard this song was written by Robby Krieger the guitarist player in the doors they where the ones who let this guy play this song...

  • @Kaioken1987

Don't know about Jim, but Robby Krieger (guitarist), who actually wrote the song, had the utmost respect for Jose's version, and has stated many he times he absolutely loves it.

I'd find it hard to believe (though again, I don't know for sure) that Morrison had a problem with it..........but who knows ????

  • @Kaioken1987 BY FAR THIS BETER THAN THE OG... ITS MORE SMOOTH AND SPICY

  • es bueno se nota su educacion musical

  • When Our Lord opens Jose's eyes one day, I think all of us on Earth or Passed Away will sing praise. Jose-never forget about what you told people that you would sing a gospel album before you pass away. We're the ones that are blind-not you...Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • The first time i heard this version i was like... WTF... this is really good!!!!!!!

    Such a nice cover.

  • Awesome, he took a great Doors tune and made it his.

  • in my opinion you can't sing this song without morrison's carisma ....

And man you talk about getting high...i mean not this way you sing about getting high

  • jose es una bestia!!!....just has a great feel for music!!!

  • Incredible soul.......

  • Wow, words can't describe the memories- forever - I'll never forget- even if I'm the last- Thanks

  • meravigliosa!

  • Um grande músico. Salve José Feliciano!!!

  • great song and his version is terrific, but this upload is horrendous. anybody got a clear sounding one??

  • Shame the audio on this is so poor. The studio version is brilliant.

  • mmmmmm.....No, Jose...you have SUCCESSFULLY lit MY fire......!

  • I was named after this guy, my middle name anyways, Feliciano :)

  • Happy Birthday to the legendary Jose Feliciano. He's 65 today. Jose you're a great singer and we love you still amigo.

  • wayy better than the doors version

  • When I get past my 2nd bottle of Arbor Mist, I can no longer tell which version of Jose's "Light My Fire" I like the best. My Favorite video is when Jose took on, ever so fairly, the World War I and II baseball fans that only now accept this version of "Light My Fire" before the Baseball Game. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • uh.maybe it's me.but this is a whole lotta awful!!!!!!i know he is a blind guy,but come on!!!!!political correctness and all,this is a whole lotta awful!!!!!

  • @69down what dont you like about it? his voice or the guitar playing?

  • LOVE this song, thanks so much for posting this vintage clip!!!!

  • i thought a black woman with big hips ass and boobs sang this version

  • what a voice! damn this guy was a god

  • why is he rocking his body?

  • @oneonta310

I don't know why but it seems that a lot of blind artists did this "rocking" (Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder....). And so did Feliciano, too

  • @zaggy3110 stupid me... i didnt notice he was blind

  • @oneonta310 he's into it baby.

  • FANTASTIC......

  • This dude is an awesome guitarist me love the doors but i like this version of light my fire better

    Jose Feliciano is a legend!

  • Somehow I feel he does more justice to this song than ' The doors'. By far, my favourite song.

  • Amazing talent.

  • I LOVE JF. Lord, what a great artist. I don't think he's capable of performing ANYTHING without giving everything he's got. A powerful and completely distinctive voice and great skill on the guitar. Vaya, Jose dulce! ---

  • @ a timw when puerto ricans where consider shit jose changed there perspective when this unforgettable song ...light my fire...1967

  • Just so Beautiful

  • It's hard to put a 'favorite' to Jose's long list of hits ... but for me this is one of the Top 5!!!

  • @Metalhearth return to spoke about horse racing or gossip.

You can't peak about music, artist and genius like Jose

  • @Metalhearth

    imbecil

    ignorante

    de mierda

el merece uin gram merito ya ke es ciego

    buena cancion

    excelente

  • Too bad so overmodulated!

  • Beautiful genius.

  • Fuzzmaster56, you are what is technically known as a knob jockey. This guy was and is pure genius way ahead of his time, but what would a racist wanker like you know.TWAT.

  • @albak1966 not a very good version of the ORIGINAL track by "THE DOORS"

-has no soul compared to original, and that's because it's not his own work

    -ie. NOT FELT

  • @darkmossie633 is simply ridicolous says "has no soul compared to original"...

is EXACTLY the opposite! This version can not be the prefeered but SURELY this is a FULL SOUL version respect to he original wich was simply a normal psic.rock song of that time, and no more.

  • I like The Doors' version better.

  • How do I spell JERK?...F-U-Z-Z-M-A-S-T-E-R! Not only is this idiot a racist, he's homophobic as well...And he makes up words, too! COPTED???As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a moroon!...BTW, I met John Densmore of The Doors several years ago, and he didn't seem to have a problem with José Feliciano's version at all.

  • No lo creia hasta que lo vi....WOW!

  • Jose Feliciano is such a special person!

  • Great Song performed by an excellent Singer as Jose Feliciano!! Viva Puerto Ricoooo!

  • I really like the flute part in this :)

  • the audio sucks but is a good version of the song

  • i love this song the doors do it better though!!!!!!

  • jose covers that song, light my fire, great! the studio version is better though. fuzzmaster56's comment was not needed, many artists cover others songs. very rude dude

  • always amazing...

  • audio is HORRID

  • Dumb spic copted Jim Morrison a year later. Faggot.

  • @fuzzmaster56 Hey dumbass if you are going to be racist at least try not to sound like a fucking retard yourself...what is copted? And Jose was Puerto Rican...so technically not a "spic" stupid! Another moron embarassing people of european descent...thanks jackass!

  • @theflyroller your right about everything except for the technically not a spic part. wtf?

  • @pqstr I was simply correcting this moron's use of the term "spic". It is traditionally used when racists are referring to Mexicans, not Puerto Ricans. By the way, if you visit my channel, you will see that I love Puerto Rican music from Chuito and Maso Rivera to Ray Barreto and many others!!!

  • @theflyroller still wrong. fyi "spic" is a racist word against latins not just mexicans!

  • @pqstr Because you would know, having grown up in a predominantly white community, and being exposed to what slurs are spoken amongst whites...right? I'm on you side, dumbass. I'm not saying it's good! I don't like the word at all! However, man, you can call whoever you want a "spic" if that makes you feel good!

  • @theflyroller u ignorant son of a bitch! so obviously u think that i'm a white non hispanic person. u couldn't possibly be more wrong. however u assumed that i was white and i know these words because i use them against latins. roflmmfao! u idiot. tell me sth why did u assume such a stupid thing? if ur tryin to be a mindreader give up u suck n keep ur day job. even by simply clickin on my channel u'd get an idea of what i am. i've never really met a person that is more full of shit than you!

  • @pqstr If you were paying attention, dumbfuck, I was commenting on some dumb shit fuzzmaster was saying about Jose! It had nothing to do with you. The world does not revolve around you. You should take back what you said about me! I was being sarcastic because you were trying to correct my "gringo" racist slang! Dude, relax! If you like "spic" then use it, I DON'T USE THE WORD! My wife is Puerto Rican, I travel there with family alot. So kiss my Honkey ass!

  • @theflyroller i was payin attention and that comment was not a reply to fuzzmaster it was a reply to me. so if u don't want me to think ur talkin to me then be careful who u reply to cuz that comment was sent to me as a reply! and stop bein such but i mean such a dumbass. who said i like that word? i'd only like it if i was a masoquist but i ain't one. and i'm still right about the definition. be carefull next time reply to the right person dumbfuck! and fuck ur honkey ass!

  • @theflyroller don't ever assume u know shit about anybody u don't have a clue about. dumb fucks like u piece me the fuck off!

  • @fuzzmaster56 Looks like someone is just jealous, besides, you can't spell Spicy without Spic. Orgullo Boricua!

  • Also, we're all European and spic is just something that fuzzmaster's grandparents came up with when they crossed over Ellis Island and had their names changed from Szejzeniekauskis to Smith. Learn your history and ancestry before you attack a culture that knows theirs. Have a great week!

  • peccato l'audio disturbato, ma versione straordinaria di un grande musicista.. Bravo Feliciano

  • Happy Cinco De Mayo

  • El Paso, Texas....1966 I remember this..

  • Actually I like his version of this better than the doors for some reason.

  • Danke mein liebe :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @uwi2 :-D

  • I'd never guess he covered this song.

  • seriously, whats up with that

    AntiVenomFangX bitch? gtfo

  • Jose, a True and rare Genius in music world

  • Interesting interpretation. I like.

  • Anti Venom, you arent a loser if you LEARN from your mistakes. What you put out you get back to you, its really simple. Try saying a few nice things and see what you get back. Peace man.

  • hahahahhahahaha he has fans?

  • Yeah, he has fans.

That's two ways that you are different from him.

  • was your comment supposed to be effective?

  • @AntiVenomFangX

fuck off you half a fag !

  • your comment offended me greatley and hurts my feelings. you win.

  • @AntiVenomFangX

    toss off buddy

  • you already made me look like a fool and then when i admit defeat you just cant help yourself. you beat me down some more.

real classy. i'm such a loser and you just pick on me:(:(:(:(
