honestly, i think it's his mainstream good looks that led to him being discredited as a serious rapper. would the record company that signed him for a million bucks done it if they didnt think he would sell to a pop market? it really is too bad that culturally people think of him as a joke, because he really wasn't. he performed in black clubs for years before a record company made him into a pop star. he's a damn good dancer, and way better rapper than mc hammer, who gets more respect.
