Well basically Lee "Scratch" Perry started to record the Barrett brother ( drum and bass of the Wailers ). They wanted to work with him, because Lee Perry made the 'Reggae' beat. Lee Perry understood in a very early stages that the drum and bass was the base of Ghetto music. Drum and bass is always the basis of Dub. Later, or actually now a days people start to make a 'new' music called Drum and Bass. But in reality Dub is Drum and Bass, it was already there on Jamaica.

what do you consider real reggae? dub is real jamaican music, almost every single produced came with a dub Bside. Dub layed the foundation for virtually every type of electronic music. besides they dont "sample" they make a version. These musicians were the first to make psychadelic music and the first to use echo and effects, it may sound primitive but this is foundation!this is real reggae!
