Agreed. The REAL was gone by 1995. When it was Juniors house. You did not get there until 4am. There was no alcohol. It was pure music. I would go to the Roxy, leave there at 3:30am go directly to the Sound Factory. For those that were there know what I'm talking about. Serious dancers only. It was a pure mixed salad of the finest dancers the city had. The NYC club scene now is dead and has been for a long time. Period. End of story.
I MISS SOUND FACTORY SOOO MUCH. I WAS THERE EVERY WEEKEND FOR YEARS HANGING OUT ON THE 3RD FLOOR . TO ALL YOU SF HEADS YOU KNOW WHO I AM " PETEY ". I WAS THERE HANGING OUT WITH JOOEY SCOOPS AND JIMMY JOE ALL WE HAVE IS MEMORIES AND WE WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING FROM A FANTASY WORLD EVERY WEEKEND. THERE WAS ONLY LOVE AMONGST EVERYONE AND ALL THE YEARS I WENT THERE I NEVER SAW ANYONE FIGHTING. BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE I LOVE YOU ALL.
our "spot" was every weekend on the balcony close to the dj booth....aahhh good times! but we managed to wobble down the stairs with clown feet on the dancefloor too LMAO!
This was our 'Saint' ,. (I know I will get shot down for even making a comparison ,. I know.. There is none),.. But there will never be another SF either..Those Monster clubs of the 80's and early 90's are all but gone Im afraid...Love this Thanks for the memories and the post..
I'll never forget the memories '95-'96. Been to many clubs from East Coast to West Coast and overseas, but nothing compares to Sound Factory. I get chills watching these videos and yes even a teary eye. I had to balance SF, LimeLight and high school, LoL. "Legend Has It" for some "Once Upon A Time" For Others. To my cousin Alex and his girl Debbie, Thanx for bringing me along.
TUNNEL & SF!!!!! Words cant describe what you have done to me! The people I have met, the music I have heard, and the amount of dancing I did! This was my church, this was my place of home! Now I am homeless and broken! I WANT MY SOUL BACK!!!
Bad fun that I don't regret. Good times. Today's clubs aren't the same. I can hear some old SF songs and I will actually get goose bumps on my arms. Long sirens also do that.
Big Eric, Alex, Will, Regino, George, Ulyseses, Tony, Maria, Jackie, Maggie, Irvin, Sylvia, Nancy, Mary, Transvestites, Joe Papa, JP, Marc, Chris, all love baby...Miss you all of you!!!!
oh man felt for a moment there this is "treasure" everyone was happy and just dancing like crazy all night long - can't wait for Jonathan Peters Classics on Sept 26 @ Pacha NYC
i agree things are not the same.... back in 1998 1999 shit was banging... the music the scene the drugs... now its too commercial things will never be the same.....
You will never ever ever ever know. I feel bad for the new generation. I am 34 and have seen soo many great clubs that honestly you will never even come close to. NASA,Club USA,Robots,Limelight,Tunnel,Twilo,SF,
Honestly not trying to rub it in. Just being honest, I am past my prime now and with a kid and wife I would never go out anyway but what am I missing? Pretty much nothing I havent seen. Even places in Montreal like Sona and Stereo are closed or at least thats what I hear. Times are just not the same.
my spot was inbetween the bar and the bleacher seats and on the stage, the side closest to Juniors booth, does any one know what the name of track this is?
HA, THIS REMINDS ME OF THE OLD FACTORY EXIT WARS, THE T-SHIRTS, THE "WORDS" EXCHANGED IN PENN-STATION. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG! :-) DANCE MUSIC DOES THE SAME THING FOR ALL OF US REGARDLESS OF WHICH OF 1,000 SUB GENERA'S WE LIKE OR WHICH OF 1,000 D'JS WE LISTEN TOO. i FOR ONE LOVE THE VARIETY OUT THERE.
I like many of you now suffer from a New Form of depression .. i dont know what to call it but no matter where i go or what club it always sucks cause i keep comparing it to the Tunnel,SF,Twilo, and the only church i would go to the Lime light ...so help us all who enjoyed life to the fullest and now ...now there's nothing.. you can have your Pacha and your Cielo and you Club Space (miami) i live there now..but you can NEVA have happiness. just memories now, like those of an old friend . Cielo is ok though, its not as psychotic, a little more low key. You can talk to people without screaming. Cielo is like the older wider brother of the modern clubs, A little more controled. ya know? I also like Park-West in Miami. Great lighting.
@j2m3000 I hear ya!!! I watch these vids and I feel it in my heart. I miss it so much. I loved the tunnel and SF and Limelight. Club Speeed afterhours too!!! Pacha sux compared, Space was alright when I first moved to Miami, the terrace was a change from NYC dark rooms. I bartended at Nocturnal for the last few years on and off, and thats the closest I got to the old feeling, but only because it was "my spot" and all my friends I made while working there. NYC just aint the same as it was....
Hello all, Man I posted this 3 years ago and its been viewed over 33,000 times, and I have gotten a TON of posts. I'm glad everyone enjoy's it! I Miss those times, The music, the crowd, even the staff... perfect. I was there every Saturday night as were a lot of people (even once in a snow storm, there were a hundred people in the whole place!) ALL just memories now, although I hear Rumors of a SF Miami opening. Thinking about a SF community site... what do you think ?
SF was awsome. Pacha is ok. The dude about the coke kids was funny as hell. I've seen so many people doing coke on the floor. Reading though all these notes and I did not hear a word about centro-fly, twilo or limelight. I'm surprised. Any takers?
The Music! the varities of music on top of that you had the whole varities of rooms, and by the way the "CD slamming" your refering to JP played at SF too soo if you arent familiar with to many classics you rele need to do some research bc i got set from JP playing " CD Slamming" shyt and he couldnt mixx it for shyt haha and yea bc SF was clean enuff to lick the floor? & na i dont thin kithe staff would say that the staff could give a fuck less and i basically knew majority people theaa
Music @ club Exit by Tony Draper who was priceless cant even put into words if you rele wanna know what real house music is ill be more than delighted to show you get @ me
vibe, people, harder music...pacha is now little punks doing mad nose candy theres no family feel where every1 is rolling and happy...pacha doesnt even compare to exit or factory in late 90s' early 2000's
haha thank you and my personal opinion.. Pacha blows! these kids have absolutely no idea what real house/club music is every1s all "oh boris, oh J.P." fuck that give me a Scot Project beat! the only night ill go to is the classics night when J.P. whips the dust off all the OLD TRAXX and the last classics party was insane he played songs he hasnt played in a long long time i got basically all of em if ya went em let me know lol but yea nothing will ever ever compare to draper @ EXIT sorry dudelol
Pacha fuckin blows only good for the classic parties thats it if you think pacha is good you apperntely dont know shyt about house music...greatest club ever in NYC Club Exit R.I.P.
the disgusting people? record slamming (or in ur case since ur talking about draper.. cd slamming)? being molested at the door by bouncers? the over flowing bathrooms that were definitely a health hazard? or the fact that if u actually held a conversation with the staff there they would even say how much of a shit hole the place was and directed u down to SF? lol
seriously now.. exit was only cool if u were 15 and couldnt get in anywhere else!
I spent many nights at SF untill Y2K because I used to work for the boss...absolutely nothing special, the opposite...I knew more places better than this in my clubber life...100 time better! Of course tastes are tastes but JP's music was only garbage IMO.
Red Zone Italy was the only place untill Y2K that could be considered after PG in atmosphere terms!

They don't dance at all, they just stand there in their Prada sunglasses and their D&G shirts and play the I'm too pretty to talk to you game. this goes for girls and guys.
Grace...."Not Over Yet",(Matt Darey Remix). This track came out sometime around 1998-2000. In my opinion, the best time in "Modern" dance & house music.
I was thinking the same thing... used to sleep on the train back to long island... sweaty, smelled like a club, but every sat night was just freakin SWEET! Nothing will ever be like it again, Jp was the man back then, he was on top. These days it feels like he is falling off, but I still go to PACHA.
