Good example of cultural diversity: I am Black(from Africa) and I live in Dallas area in Texas and I notice that many El Salvadorians cannot stand Mexicans and many Mexicans can't stand El Salvadorians. For 10 years I didn't know that they been having differences with each other. I play soccer with both groups and they talk bad about each other. The sad part is that ignorrant Americans from the US would couple those two groups together and refer to both of them as "Mexicans"

My Mexican friend is a mestizo(half Indian/half Spanish), so for "race" he considers himself half caucasian(Spanish) and half Amernindian(mongoloid). Not all Mexicans have European blood, but a lot do. It's like that in many Central American/South American countries...not just Mexico. I used to work with a guy from Argentina, who was part Italian,Spanish and Amerindian. So like the video says, there is much diversity within "Hispanic" cultutres.

Native Chamorros (Guam & Northern Marianas) come from the similar Hispanic history as those in Latin America. Over 350 years of Hispanic heritage. Yet today we have yet to be recognized by our colonial brothers and sisters in Latin America, as being a Hispanic people. Would my Spanish speaking great-grandparents have be considered Hispanic? yes. guam's native language, Chamorro, has much influence from Spanish language. over 60% of chamorro words are of spanish origin. but the pronunciations are somewhat different for certain words. the last of the spanish speaking Chamorros of Guam died in the 1980's. But sadly much of Guam's hispanic culture died with them. Hispanic/latino really refers to a large diverse group of people defined by a language and certain historical, geographical and cultural influences.

There are white Mexicans, black Mexicans and Asian Mexicans, for example. In fact a good number of Argentinans are Asian. Yet they are all part of the latino culture.

You're thinking of mestiso, which is the proper term for someone of usually European and mesoamerican Indian ancestry.
