  • Still the only person in my mind who can pull off that ending

  • Incredible performance. I didnt know this guy. Quite a virtuoso. This piece is a "morceau de bravoure" so not so good for judging qualities such as the feeling of a piece. But as far as precision is concerned he is superb. Reminds me of some beautiful Etudes of Chopin by Pollini.

  • @Lijie888 could you recommend some? This is the first I've seen of what ever category you might put this song/performance and I would love to hear more

  • @darthsage411 Do you mean Chopin? Well there is a lot ! The Pollini performance of the Etudes of Chopin is fantastic: it is very plain. This summer I heard the études, polonaises and waltzes by Evgeni Bozhanov Much freer playing but still very moving. And there is quite beautiful performance (also among the recent) by Louis Lortie.

  • @darthsage411 Also: I dont like so much the (quite perfect) performance of Chopin's études by Boris Berezovski: I have the impression he plays too quickly. In fact the "russian school" (Berezovsky is really excellent and Kissin is very much in the same mood of performing) is a little bit too quick for me. I would very much prefer a little slower tempo.

  • @Lijie888 In the similar kind Liszt by Khatia Buniatishvili. Fantastic.

  • @darthsage411 I also heard the bis in a concert of Shani Diluka (I love this performer) playing the quick and beautiful : Valse-minute of Chopin.

  • I bet that 10/10 of people complanin about his mistakes can't even play the first 20 seconds of this master piece

  • practice is for tools rachmaninoff didnt need to practice

  • @Gargantupimp nobody will never get to the top not having hours/days/years of practising. All rahmaninoff's activity was one great practice, and mozart's as well

  • @Kate86msk takes more than practice, it takes great soul

  • @Gargantupimp But then he played a lot more wrong notes than Kissin. So did Horowitz, BTW, and Rubinstein as well.

  • very good! some kind of energy posses hi, it is very rare !

  • That was amazing!

Evgeny Kissin has incredible accuracy with his notes! Bravo!

  • the context of this performance relative to stamina and duration during this recital is absolutely incredible.

  • Watch Kissin's hands - he's not practising - HE"S DEMONSTRATING!

I bet if you ask him he'll agree.

  • pianists usually practice pieces in various tempo. and some don't rely solely on muscle memory, they also use some photographic memory so that they'll know where to go in case they get lost along the way. these are piano practice techniques, and i think that's what he's actually doing.

  • this is such a difficult piece, I'm not surprised.

  • Certainly not for an Octopus!

  • :D:D
