so i am in the registry editor currently looking at the right panel and i have no idea what the upperfilters and lowerfilters are, all i can see is a list of things like (Default), Class, ClassDesc etc.

what am i supposed to do next? please help

@TheGlossyDiva Yes, it's a bit difficult to read - the path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Curr­entControlSet/Control/Class and click on the top one ending 10318 then delete just the 'filters' he mentioned by right clicking on each one and pressing delete. It worked for me.

The only thing gets me mad is that I had windows 7 and XP both installed on my machine and my drive still doesn't functions in windows 7 u know any such tricks for that...

I' am fed up with my cd drive. I had a new one put on my computer the other week because the lens broke and then the stubborn pigheaded thing would not read discs.
