They are both great with two different styles. Love that Jimmy Heffernan and his blues lick at aprox 1:25 Jimmy. Can you teach that one on your site? Thx.
Yep, Jerry may have the speed. But as far as phrasing and choosing the notes, and 'speaking' with the dobro Mike Auldridge is unmatched as far as I'm concerned. I'm in the process of learning dobro and he's the dude I wanna play like!!!
what is that tune they play towards the end (4:00 onwards)? are they just improvising or is it an actual tune? it's gorgeous. if anyone knows or has tabs, please let me know! :)
Hey! This is my great uncle Mike! :) I haven't seen him since I was just a little kid... but it's really nice to see that he's still playing. :) If you know him, please tell him that his niece Joan's daughter said hi!
Such a nifty little lick Mr. Auldridge plays at 3:40 during "A Maiden's Prayer". It seems to tickle Mr. Heffernen! He can't keep from giving a little chuckle when he hears it!
That's his signature sound, I went a workshop with Mike A. and asked him how he got that sound. Part of it comes from playing in octaves and the rest is a mystery.
They are Mahogany. Either the PBS Std, or more likely the solid wood model, PBS-M. The PBSM has s "snowflake" neck inlay that is slightly more fancy than the dots of the PBS-Standard. I can't see well enough to see if these have the snowflakes or not. But the tone sounds like the "warmer" solid wood of the PBS-M's.
The Maple model (PBS-Deluxe) has a "Hearts and Flowers" inlay pattern...
Me too. Thanks for adding this to your fav's Richie so that I got to spend a little bit of my day listening to these 2 sweethearts exchanging licks and laughs. LOVED IT!!!!
btw, I just picked up a Goldtone myself. I'm trying out that D tuning you told me about. It's so fun.
My boyfriend is getting that same Dobro!
