I'd just like to clarify something: sinking the 8 ball on the break may or may NOT guarantee a win. Generally speaking (though not always) sinking the 8 in a bar according to "bar rules" will guarantee a win while doing so in a tournament may result in a re-rack. However, just must keep in mind that everyone has different rules so just be sure to clarify those rules to avoid any confusion or arguments that may arise from disagreements.

Of course, in this instance, it would be the 9 on the break that we'd be concerned with... but yes, always clarify the rules before playing.

In nine ball generally a 9 on the break is a win unless specifically stated otherwise. In money games often people will choose to play "Call Nine" where the nine ball made without calling a pocket is not a win but rather a re-spot of the nine.

if your playing 8 ball and you sink the 8 ball on break you automatically win.. but if you playing 9 ball you sink any ball in is good for you... and if you sink 9 ball in on break you win as well if you didnt know
