  • I'm an american, and I say Ovi Maps is better. I've used both Google and Ovi, and Ovi is better...mainly because the surfer dude guides me to where I need to go.

  • bad comparison, completely different hardware

  • bad comparison, completely different hardware

  • Ovi maps is better 1. its free, 2. no internet requited 3. speed limit, petrol stations etc

    4. the walk on ovi maps is better 5. motorways are shown more clearly

  • Idiots!! Ovi maps Rocks!!

  • if u talk about gps navi.i would say nokia free ovi maps voice direction is superb compare to dumb quite google map. as u know when u drive, u dont need to look at the map.just hear the voice while in taking direction

  • Compair it to the Nokia E7. Worthless review.

  • stupid comparison

  • google navigation is better at real time tracking is because it uses internet connection and gps...

  • @najibnk that doeasn't make it beatter,.. ovi does the same, it is in options,..

  • @najibnk that's not true, both use internet connection, even in Nokia Maps if you prefer you cannot use internet so you have both options.

Besides Nokia Maps have real traffic information , + millions of points of interest adn the main thing, the maps are updated more regulary so you have a better map.

  • it is stupid to compare these two- ovi maps are totally free. this means you can have independent standalone navigation. Google maps navigation requires an internet connection. Assume you went to a foreign country and hence connection to internet is either expensive (due to roaming) or not possible (may be your service provider does not have any agreements with the local companies)- then what? No internet- no navigation. Ovi maps on the other hand means navi anywhere...

  • You guys make a cute couple!! How long you been "seeing" each other?

  • Useless comparison!!! sorry guys but that was dumb!!

  • New ovi maps 3D.. fantastic !!!!!!!

  • compare it to an N8. See how that goes for the nexus

  • You guys literally have my ideal job. "Hey man what do you want to do today?" "lets drive to San Francisco and take a couple phones with us to compare nav systems" Im still working on picking up one phone with navigation! Truly amazing. Love your reviews. Keep it up.

  • ovi map is so far better!!!

  • stupid americans...

  • yo man u should throw out da e72 and put in da 5800

  • Comparing screen sizes is idiocy...aside that, did you use preloaded maps in E72? You should, that will save you some money AND time. And BTW, Google Maps does not support that quite yet.

  • I don't understand why Aaron or somebody is talking about the screen size. Nokia N900 screen has same size like Nexus one and it uses ovi maps and Nokia E72 isn't actually touch screen phone so it actually has pretty big screen to be phone like that

  • physical keyboards should be banned!

  • @felipe200794 or perhaps you should be banned ;)...people have different preferences, I could not live without the physical QWERTY. So let's both be banned :)

  • which camera ??? The one you are taking pictures with !!

  • LOl u better compare it with N8

  • Yo man nice video but Here is one question for you google navigation works with internet so with a data plan ... but the e72 works offline without anything no dataplan nothin ... its normal that nexus one have better real time tracking !

And an important question so if i buy a e72 from nokiausa.com i will have free navigation with data plan ? in offline like you ?

  • I have a nokia mx 5800 and it is perfect for navigation not slow at all the screen is bigger! I love nokia ovi it! It uses satellite and does not use network, it is free! What about google navigation?

  • why not try the OVI maps with a Nokia N900 or N97 ?

  • why don't you take 5800 or n97 instead of the e72???

  • @keksi255 Why ??? Both The N97 And 5800 Suck In Comparison To The E72.

    E72 Has A 600mhz Processor. Both The N97 & 5800 Have 434mhz Processors.

    E72 Is Faster Than Both.

  • @07liberian no i didn't mean the 5800 or n97 is better than the e52...but they have bigger screens....that would have been easier to show in the video

  • @keksi255 Having A Big Screen Means Nothing If The Device Processes Information Slowly.

  • @07liberian THE N97 AND 5800 ARE NOT SLOW...

BUT I MENT THE DISPLAYS OF THEM ARE BETTER FOR SUCH A YOUTUBE VIDEO BECAUSE THEY ARE BIGGER AND THE PEOPLE WHO WATCH THE VIDEO CAN SEE THE MAP BETTER ON A BIGGER DISPLAY

    understand??

  • @keksi255 I Had The N97, It May Not Be Slow In General But It Is Slower In Every Aspect Including Youtube And Maps ThanThe E72. I Agree That It Is Nice To Have A Big Screen So You Can See Better But I Prefer Speed Over Big Screen.

Beside That, This Is A Dogfight And The N97 And 5800 Are No Match For The N1. Notice How The N1 Is Just A Tiny Bit Faster Than The E72, You'll Notice A Huge Difference Between The N1 And N97. Then You'll See That The Big Screen Does'nt Matter In This Particular Test.

  • Is Google maps free on any android, like say, the mid end Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica? And are there maps available for the Philippines?

  • ovi maps wins

  • whos that fat bastard in the homo pink shirt???? can i get a date???

  • 4.17 jajaja se Noas still with his Blackberry what does that tell you with all the phones he's got?

  • ovi maps is best by far

  • I once used the nexus one for navigation for about 2-3 hours whilst charging through the 9v cigarette lighter on a sunny day. What happen was the nexus one got so hot that the touchscreen stopped working. The phone and navigation was still working but I had to used the trackball.

  • i agree with you that nokia e72 lags, but make a video in 2010 with nokia 5800 with the last version of ovi maps on it. i think the performans will be the same ore better on nokia, i use a 5800 in italy and it works better than a tom tom. ) i will wait for a video with a 5800

  • are you reviewing the maps app, the phones or the scenery? what a shitty review. Decide what you're reviewing, stay on topic, show the phone UI not the damned scenery and quit the A.D.D. and stupid jokes. It would also help if you speak English instead of making up all those words; it really makes you sound ignorant.

  • @p2mail dude this video was cool to see them drive a round and have fun i think more video like this be cool and they was just haven fun driveing and useing the gps chill

  • @thetreverpitts WTF?!

  • It can also be used Ovi maps as a tourist menu for hiking trails? And we can possibly download a map that can navigate the paths in the woods?

  • nokia n900 user here

YOU SHOULD HAVE USED THE NOKIA N900 OR N97.

HOW CAN YOU COMPARE AN E72 TO A NEXUS 1.

You shouldn't be comparing the phones and you SHOULD be comparing the systems!

Also, how can you compare speeds to update when the e72 is ON EDGE, while the nexus 1 is on 3G. If you wanted a fair competition you should have used a n900 and n97 and both should have access to the same network speed.

    Ovi FTW

  • @frontmoney21 Ovi FTW? And you own the N900? Are you serious?? Have you actually tried to use the Ovi Maps app on the N900????

  • @giecsar

Its not perfect yet because its a completely different operating system but it works decently well. ovi maps on n97 would have been a better comparison against a nexus 1.

  • @frontmoney21 It works decently well? Dude, I have the N900 too. First off, there is no turn-by-turn navigation. Second, it doesn't come with preloaded maps. Third, Nokia PC Suite doesn't support the N900, so you can't load any maps. Ovi Maps for the N900 is a JOKE. I use Sygic. Sygic FTW!!

  • @giecsar

Turn By Turn navigation is "coming"

you can preload maps over wifi.

i already said a n97 would have been a better comparison

  • @giecsar :) Do you know "Nokia Ovi Suite". You can load your maps with this app. lol

  • @eugeniu23 You clearly haven't read my comment, so why did you bother posting a response? You CANNOT load maps with Ovi Suite because the N900 is NOT SUPPORTED.

  • watch my newly purchased cellphone 16Gig touch screen :)

  • Nexus One doesn't have turn previews like the Ovi Maps

  • Why would you pick an Android phone with a large screen size and a Symbian phone with a small screen...And then have the cheek to compare screen sizes!

That's like having a van and a mini cooper and complaining you can't fit as much stuff in the mini. Well duh.

    Honestly.

  • @MyNokiaBlog thats right

  • You didn't really show the good things bout ovi maps. like y would u say that it has a smaller screen when you can use a nokia 5800 with free navigation. I don't think the review is fair.

  • you should have used N97/mini or 5800XM in compare with the big screen N1...

I used Ovi Maps Navigation on 5800XM few times in HK (which there are more tall building affect the performace of GPS/AGPS than in SF). It is amazing accurate even when the car is in a tunnel! The car driving speed shown on 5800 is accurate too!

  • My OVI maps on my E71 is not free. Idk, it says my license has expired which is not cool. I dont wanna have to pay for GPS when Noah says it should be free =(

  • Same on my Nokia N85

  • Nokia are still rolling out the free navigation on s60 phones with gps chips, you will be able to get it free soon. Just keep the faith and keep checking.

  • @abbeezy its free now ;)

  • @23backslash23 Really? Awesome. Thanks for letting me know love

  • that so lame comparing E72 and nexus one.. try using the n900, n97, n5800

  • @jograd08 Nah, not N900 quite yet. Wait a few months. ;)

(And the 5800 is not an Nseries phone.)

  • why on earth you would compare navigation on different size screens? why didn't you compare N97 or n900 with nexus so it would have similar size screen? worthless review, really...

  • @samisuvanto he is comparing the software not the hardware and how the different navigation software work

  • I move from Nokia to allow free navigation on their phones (well, most don't have it yet but are told they'll have it soon) is just genius. And the fact that they are one of only two companies with the entire globe mapped makes it very good. Maybe in the US with a data-plan Google nav wins but all and all, having offline navi in your pocket abroad is just very very clever. And in Europe people travel abroad more. In my book, all situations considered, Ovi maps wins.

  • Instead of E72, you should have used N97, because it has a bigger screen, but anyway I vote for Google™.

  • My vote goes to Ovi Maps just not on the E72. It's free navigation anywhere in the world. We can't use Google Navigation in Europe yet but even if we did, you can't travel through countries and use it because it'd just cost of a data connection.

  • To have been a more "apples-to-apples" comparison, the E72 should of had active service like the Nexus - allowing A-GPS to kick in. Would have been more accurate(?)

  • yep I thought what also. But then again Nokia did pretty good considering that in only was using GPS. Google nav will be a stupid idea outside of your country because of roaming costs.

  • Google Nav is so much better!

  • The e72 is a lousy GPS device, you should try the N97 or even the 5800

  • not fair i would have used the n900 or 5800 navi edition. that would have been a better fight. but this is a pretty good fight

  • Google maps vote for me :), Love it on my droid

  • wow everybody here vote for stupid Ovi Maps :(

  • @Devastationable Ovi maps have maps of over 74 countries (pre-loaded maps that can be downloaded on to memory card). It even has maps for Iran, phillipines and Iraq which is pretty impressive. Ovi maps has better support and Nokia owns Navteq which is used in Garmin devices.

  • I want to see Google Navigation vs Sprint Navigate on palm pre

  • Really, Noah? A Prius????? Come on, man, Ford Fusion Hybrid get like 15 more MPGs than a Prius, and has more interior space. Any who nice video.

  • Look out your brakes are gonna fail!

  • DAMN i better pay my parking ticket

  • my mytouch did not get too hot when navigating, so it may be just the nexus, or just yours.

  • haha prius!

  • man i'd pick the nexus over the Nokia

  • wait was aaron calling himself gay?

  • man im gettting memories from bieng in alcatraz -shivers- scary

  • palm pre has the best navigation on a phone

  • just got the n86.. f.. why ddnt i get the e 72 or the n97 instead.. bah..

  • your in a toyota pruis'

  • i have a sygic gps program. It is really great and the sound navigation sounds real not like a computer talking voice

  • Unbelievable how many Big environmentally unfriendly cars like Trucks, Vans, Pickups, 4x4s etc... you have over there in the US!

In this video it looked like over 60%

  • yea we Americans suck, im sorry,(not being sarcastic)

  • Both phones = drool, saliva and maybe some tears.

  • Nice shades Noah!

  • don't think it's fair.. Nexus One has a 1GHz processor, and the E71 has a 433 I think. For a real comparrison, you will need phones with the same hardware... or similar. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah I was surprised too when this is a comparison of two NAVIGATION SOFTWARE and not hardware but the first thing they come up with that the Nokia has a smaller screen and slower to recalculate...

  • With OVI Maps you don't need to use your data allowance since you can download the maps onto the device in advance, also what about when you don't have a strong signal like when you are travelling, OVI Maps won't have a problem. Also the NEXUS One's voice is horrid it's just a text to speech solution isn't it? I think OVI Maps is much more like a proper Navigation software, like Tom Tom...

  • IN a month time I'll drive through Europe and

I was about to buy a new satnav with Full European mapping(I only have UK one) but now I don't need to spend £150 on a TomTom device when I get the full navigation with 74 countries maps on the device with Nokia! Brilliant! :)

  • Hey Noah, Cool glasses!

  • the suicide bridge aaahhh

  • hahaha, flaming hot. XDD

  • "Move over truck dont hit me!" LMFAO Noah in the begining

  • @unrealgogetr LOL!!

  • San Francisco - nice city :P

Warm greetings from the cold Poland :]

  • someone has an old blackberry lying around the car!

  • I have the E71 which is basically the same as the E72 but lower spec and the navigation is good but the screen is a bit too small

  • Get the N97 or the N900 then.

  • android 4.0 real time street view...lmao

  • dibs on the job

  • wow, this is the first time I ever saw 3 different smart phones in 1 car! (There was a balckberry somewhere in the cup holder) Awesome!!!

  • AN iphone on his leg aswel lol

  • No don't fire aaron man. I would take pictures too if i was on the golden gate bridge.

The n72 looks more premium than the n1 btw

  • "Look, it's pretty."

    "Oh, it is pretty!"

Sounds like a lovely romantic adventure you two had. Putting a human face to the otherwise bland technology is a winner in my book.

As for the phones, the reason the Nexus One is getting hot is because it's actually doing something. Nokia navigation is slow rubbish.

  • Why am I not surprised that Noah drives a Prius, and then complains about "slow" drivers? LOL. Prius 0-60 is like 15 seconds! But yes, the Nexus One spanks the Nokia, which is expected.

  • Interestingly this was a COMPARISON OF NAVIGATION SOFTWARES AND NOT DEVICES! lol, are you people retarded?

OVI Maps is much better in my opinion.

  • Lol fight fight fight! xD

  • Why didn't you compare the N97 navigation to the Nexus? They have a similar screen size and more comparable processors.

  • Yeah that would have been fairer, although it's ok to compare the Softwares on two devices that are clearly in different classes if they don't put hardware related comments into the pros and cons...

  • R u Phonedog's boss Noah I love Noah!!

  • Google's grip will soon tughten around us all! Great vids BTW. Where'd you guys end up eating? I need to get my navi going on my N900!

  • Part Doux already?

  • 4th

  • I have to say, it's Noah that keeps me coming back to PhoneDog. Thumb up this comment if you're with me.

  • @TweeterMan287 Wow. Openly asking for thumbs ups. Sad.

  • @usgaymen your youtube name is sad

  • Google

  • Why Google?

For me Nokia OVI Maps wins this one.
