Hey, hey, you picked up what I say, hot head rabbit? If you keep your habit, your mama told ya when you hop, that if you stop, you cop the crop. He gets salt and gun for you, because carrots any you make a very good stew. Certainly got you on the run! So you better find a quiet little corner, where the farmer never comes. You got plenty of patches and you snuck in between them. Dig what I mean? Your cottontail has got to keep it clean. Run, rabbit, run! Now you've had your fun. Run before you
, came at me with a big shot gun. And did I run! I ran just as swiftly as I could. Yeah, I split from there with only a second to spare. I could hear the bullets fly through the air. He plugged up the hole was in the fence, as he's running madly around the garden looking for me crawling. I knew it all along.
The other rabbits see him taking this, made him do wrong. But who cares? I'm a hooked rabbit. Yeah, I gotta kick the habit. Everyday I'm trying to avoid it. What do I do, I know that I've enjoyed it. And every little carrot I stole I got delight, and I keep forgettin' that it ain't right. So one day as I was deep in the mill, that farmer pulled a real quick steal
Way back in my childhood I heard a story so true about a funny bunny stealing some food from a garden he knew. His mama got worried, she told the bunny one day, "Better watch the farmer, heed what I say or he'll blow you away". He knew his mama was bright. So why don't he do what she say? Maybe he just don't dig it. Why does he do it? Because he's a rabbit! He started hopping. You can't stop him while he's on his way. Out in the garden where the carrots are dense, I found a hole in the fence.
Ultimate 'Hip'. LHR had no competition, no peers. There were them, and nobody else. I've had the best of LHR in my auto CD player so long, I don't know if it can be ejected.
Dave Lambert sings Ben Webster solo LHR sings the bridge, the groups sings Duke's solo .Group comes in again and sings Ben Webster out chorus written for big band .As they sing at the end a very tastey stew!
Make a "video" for "Gimme That Wine" (Un-Hand That Bottle") and I'll be a serious fan LOL! These guys influenced me when I was 13 years old and were just the sh*t. Great original musicians with killer intuition, time, voices and ears!!! (Bunny-ears?)
Just utterly superb. Thank you. I saw/heard the Ellington orchestra a couple of times in the 1960s - met Ellington and Strayhorn outside the back door of the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. Thye were very gracious to a shy teenage kid.
The next time I saw them was at Basin Street West - absolutely wonderful.
Basie had a different drive, but Ellington could do it too.
I'm a jazz piano major. I knew that LHR created the words. I had heard there were some words put with the song so I looked it up. It's much easier to learn a melody when words are put to it. And, Ellington wrote the music. Recorded it in 1940.
Your dad's uncle wrote and sang on "What's This" by Gene Krupa, recorded January 22, 1945, which some people (including jazz expert Scott Yanow) consider the very first vocal bebop record. (The very first instrumental bebop recordings for regular record release were arguably "Dee Dee's Dance" and "Little Benny" by Clyde Hart, recorded 34 days before "What's This.")

brothers Flopsie and Mopsie. And you're gonna do what mama intended. Now you eat your carrots 'til you're sent in. I've heard the old story:
"One rabbit foot will bring luck. They're much more lucky, luckier naturally if the rabbit's attached".

LHR created the lyrics. Count Basie the music years before. Sheesh. It's a standard. Amazing how clueless people can be.
