  • This is ground shaking stuff. I thought Hammersmith was amazing and then this arrived. Thank you so much for posting. The 9/19 show is way better than 9/20 in my opinion. If for no other reason than the poster cranked up the volume when he downloaded plus they mixed it in a pretty unique way. You hear a lot of different instruments much clearer than other recordings.

  • At 2.34 I came and it lasted all night!!!

  • At 2,34 I came and it lasted all night!!!

  • !!

  • Greatest Version ! This concert at The Capital Theatre should be a movie/cd. !!!!!!!

  • I don't have words... incredible!!! Prove it all night...

  • Bruce needs to release a live album from this tour.

  • ahhhh leave this one alone! please bring back our Passaic vids :(....

  • 7:36 Wow. What a fantastic and beautiful performance by "Phantom" Dan Federici...R.I.P!

  • best intro ever! i love listening to all the different nuances in different shows. anyone agree? if so are you ready to prove it all night?

  • My sweetheart turned me onto this show & video... I miss her so much...

  • Masterpiece!

  • god!

  • Please don't fuck with this video.

  • Within in the past day, pretty much every video from this concert was flagged for copyright!!!!! That is terrible! It was never released by anyone!!! How is it copyright? I'm just going to keep watching this video in case they take it down soon!

  • @Uglywimp , that sucks!

  • @Uglywimp It's really, really annoying. I really wanted to watch and listen to Candy's Room from that concert. What if I'll never find it again? That would the greatest shame of shames. I mean, if only someone actually would release this stuff, I'd be happy to pay.

  • Seeing the Boss at IOW fest, YAAAAAHHHHHH

  • 18 dudes only prove it until 1 am

  • I just cannot believe this was never on the LIVE 75-85 album. The live version , especially this one , my favorite, takes the song to something supernatural. In 1978 , the Darkness Tour he made every concert an incredible EVENT.

  • under rated guitarist

  • rock n roll at its finest

  • It's an almost impossible thing to do, but if one were forced to pick a single day in history when Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band was at their absolute peak collectively, I think you could make a very good case that September 19, 1978 was it. And I don't need to explain why. Just watch this video. Blistering.

  • Prove It is so superior to badlands ---a fair amount better than promised land---btw i was at this show----was a crappy weather night---bruce warmed the place up inside though

  • No words I can come up with will capture the awe I feel every time I watch this video. This and 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed' are the best two live rock performances ever recorded.

  • Having just watched the colour version of Elvis doing Jailhouse Rock i thought wow that guy has to be the most charismatic performer ever. Then i viewed this, which frankly makes Elvis seem like a cardboard cut out.

  • Simply amazing, Bruce in his prime!!!!!!

RIP Clarence!! you were one of a kind!!

  • Simply amazing, Bruce in his prime!!!!!!

  • An amazing intro by the Professor...

A phenomenal solo by the Big Man (RIP)

A Stunning solo by Phantom Dan (RIP)

And three EPIC solos by Bruce!!!!

Why could I not be alive when this happened?

  • Rock and Roll 101

  • i'll prove it the next night too lol

  • the DEFINITIVE version of "Prove It All Night"....none better.

  • I am not a die-hard but love Bruce....this song is stuck in my head...unconsciously just in my head...oh..yeah....darkness at the edge of town too....this video rocks!

  • This is my all time favorite Springstein song and Darkness on the Edge of Town is a classic album. This is Bruce in his musical prime!

  • happy 33 Passaic!

  • Legendary concert ... a great rock artist at the top of his game .... Bruce on guitar makes me wonder why he ever needed Little Steven ... put this in a time capsule.

  • The professor............

  • This should of been the album version.

  • This is the shit..who the hell as a rock front man has the same power and passion as bruce'i really cant think of any and its not only the one song it s the 3 +hours full of power.

  • By the way this song was crafted,I find it hard to believe anyone would dislike it.

  • keep this up for all enternity please.

  • nice video :-) I brought a copy from rockonvidtrade a while , well worth it !

  • rip big man

  • I defy anyone to identify a performance more rocking than that. Anytime, anywhere.

  • @tpd10001

atlanta, a week later than this

  • Now I know why all the guys were cracking up listening to me practicing the D

chord. Then when I progressed to Smoke on the Water they were in hysterics.

It is like comparing a stick figure drawing to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel

    They were very kind.

    You are Bloody Awesome

  • I am willing to bet that Bruce has never felt cooler on stage than he did when he was shredding this intro. It is absolutely tremendous. A once in a lifetime performance, probably composed by the band members that day before they went on stage. Just brilliant

  • 18 people clearly have something to prove.

  • This melted my face

  • 2.32-3.36 makes intro to sweet child of mine sound like head shoulders knees and toes!

  • The first time i heard this tune i cried ! Memories overwelmed me good and bad . Boss is the shit

  • this is powerful as fuck

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!:D<3

    R.I.P. CLARENCE AND DANNY!<3

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!:D<3

    R.I.P. DANNY AND CLARENCE!<3

  • ohhhh danny

  • This is great Rock and roll.

  • I tell you what i've been listening to this song like crazy the last month, I finally found it on cd the full version like this, so I made the ringtone on my phone 2:34-3:04 its badass. My girlfriends is 0:34-1:04 Guess u can call me a sucker for great music

  • I wish I could have been born 15 years earlier so I could have been at a Bruce concert in his prime!

  • @ebes24 exactly how i feel.

  • big man at 5:35!

  • I cannot get enough of this song right now!!!

  • @MsGypsyBiker yeah and i miss my 'boy Clarence Clemons and that oh so smooth sax too!

  • @africanbully31 me too! it ain't the e street band without the big man! this is one of his best songs!

  • What an amazing version of a great song. Despite all the praise of Bruce and Clarence, I can't stop thinking of how brilliant Roy Bittan is at the piano; he makes this song.

  • Prime Bruce there. RIP Clarence you will be missed..

  • Take care big man, you really gave the sax on that music

  • 18 people don't like this? Are we living on the same planet?

  • FUCKING AMAZING!!! THIS IS MUSIC!!

  • Gives me the shivers...

  • I LOVE THIS!:D<3

R.I.P. Danny And Clarence (Big Man)!:D<3

  • I LOVE THIS!:D<3

R.I.P. Clarence (Big Man) And Danny!:D<3

  • RIP Big Man and Phantom Dan.

  • i think its cool to look at this video and then look at the 02 barcelona one, it has the same people playing in it. theres some good music from these guys

  • That sax sound sends chills down my spine. Clarence you will be missed more than words can say.

  • CC RIP. So sad, loved that sax, blew the lights out every time!

  • RIP Big Man

  • RIP Big Man...

  • rest in peace Clarence

  • bruce could really wring the Tele out baby!

  • Interesting how Springsteen gave up the role of lead guitarist... he was good, but I think he realized his strength lay in writing and singing, and later left the guitar solos to others....

  • @znarf541 But this is a great guitar solo. He is just as good as Little Stevie.

  • You have no soul at all if you cannot feel goosebumps listening to this. Jesus Christ this is Bruce at his absolute finest!!!

  • 9:08 obie in HER seat, down front,as usual.....she is the original bruce fan!!!

  • that intro just impregnated my ear pussy

  • A great fucking song and an amazing performance

  • im 30 years old and i remember my father having a bunch of bruce's records on vinyl and he would always be jammin springsteen and i dug it but i was a kid so i never truly understood the music..now that im grown i get overwhelmed with joy when i hear bruce..watching this footage makes me wish i was there for this performance,i wanna thank bruce for providing a soundtrack to my life..

  • 18 folks could only prove it till 3 am......

  • @copekillzz they can't proof anything

  • @copekillzz literally lol'd. great stuff. (referring to the 3am joke)

  • I love the keyboards! I used to play like that - years ago . . .

  • This like Bruce' other song It's hard to be a saint in the city is the perfect rock roll song.

  • Guitar-gasm

  • 18 people are peculiar

  • FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I dont think its fair to compare this with other performers. Led Zeppelin was a great band. Rolling Stones were a great band. But this is in a whole other league of greatness. You might only get to see one performance of this calibre in a lifetime, if you're lucky.

  • Bruce Springsteen is more that just an artist...he is a musical institution that has produced some of the best music and live performances of our generation. And of all his performances I personally absolutely love this rendition of Prove it All Night....Big Man, Danny, The Band, The Boss...everyone was on top form to absolutely kill in front of Springsteen's home crowd. Keep it going Boss man!

  • Oh my goodness. GENIUS. The guitar ALONE is pure SEX.

  • @JADELLE yeah i think i just jizzed in my pants lol

  • untouchable

  • The short version that is sometimes played on radio stations does not do justice to the song. It doesn't even come close to the energy or magnificence of the song live.

  • U Can Prove It All Night Any Night!Love The Boss Forever!!!!!! He Still Got It!!!!All Day Everyday!!!!!!!!!!THE BOSS!!!!!!<3 Much Love To You!!!!!

  • does the person who posted all these vids have the entire concert start to finish? They should sell it as a boot leg dvd...I'd friggin buy it!

  • @harrism84 , there is a website called ioffer.com...you can find it there....as well as thousands of other bootlegs

  • @harrism84 Dont deal with ioffer, its a scam. Type in ioffer.com scan in google and youll see. Just giving a heads up.

  • @ThePaulanthony62 , i have about 50 transactions from ioffer.....never been ripped off once....

  • The GOAT IMHO until I die. Imagine Bieber even attempting to do something like this. He can only dream of ever being such a man while that bastard guitar sends shivers down his spine. Where have all the hungry musicians gone? The Boss didn't get to be the Boss without being hungrier than everyone else. Now he feeds us all

  • I HAVE SEEN MR. SPRINGSTEEN LIVE 138 TIMES IN 9 DIFFERENT STATES EVERY TOUR SINCE THE RIVER TOUR IN 1980

  • not the best looking guy in the world but certainly the sexiest

  • world's best entertainer

  • No doubt this was the Boss at the top of his game right here.. wow..Got whole new respect for him!Prove it All Night indeed!

  • that intro is just plain fuckin sick

  • I was so lucky to see him in Cleveland in 1978, he played 3 close to 4 hours, did like 4 encores! He truly is the BEST!!

  • That's just unbelievable. I'm 18 but realise this (and anything else he does for that matter) shits all over any music around now. Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Bieber, Miley Cyrus.........don't make me fucking laugh.

    T H E B O S S.

  • i've always liked u2 more thn bruce springsteen. But after having seen this video, i'm starting to doubt if u2 is the best band in the world.

  • Tell the taxi driver you want E street and thunder road

  • Speechless!! JUST AMAZING.

  • HOLY SHIT. that was like OMG. He could sing, he could play a mean guitar, he could write some amazing lyrics, and he could enetertain. JUSTIN BIEBER CAN SUCK IT!!! he is just a pimple on The Boss's Ass.

  • truly awesome version of this song!!! long live the boss!!!!!!

  • That piano in the beginning is like sex

  • 'I saw Rock and Roll future and it's name is Bruce Springsteen'

  • 18 PPL JUST DECLARED HOW MUCH GAY THEY RE...FUCK OFF CUNTS!!OLD TIME CLASSIC....THE MEANING OF ROCK!

  • They should aim this out to space in the hope of finding intelligent life.

  • @biscuitbins We would be so overwhelmed by the responses to the point that the whole human population would have to spend all its efforts sorting out the replies

  • If Elvis is the King, Bruce is the god who ripped on a tele for seven days and made the Earth.

  • He is really an amazing guitarist, something that gets overlooked in the midst of all his other talents.

  • I was seventeen years old. Seen this show in Toronto. Concertbowl. Gardens. Changed me and the three guys I went with lives. No matter what happened afterwards. Whatvever music we heard/watched, This show was IT.

  • Singer, Songwriter, Showman, and yeah... a hell of a guitarist.

    F****ing love you Bruce!

  • Holy crap, I had no idea Bruce could shred.

  • @Kruezoraxe

Bruce has many talents, not the least of which is his skills with a guitar. This type of playing, and really heavy stuff, was common in his early days - before his "folk" period, in bands like Earth, Child, and Steel Mill. He used to have this great Les Paul/Marshall stack sound that really cranked - the guitarists at the shore were in awe of this guy.

  • at 7:36 danny kills it on that organ. PHANTOM DANNY we miss you

  • @haitianjack5 Amen to that, Charlie is ok, but he had an awful big pair of shoes to fill. R.I.P. Danny.

  • theBOSS baby wow!

  • you see comments underneath a lotta bruces videos saying that whilst hes a great poet and lyricist hes not a great musician, what is this assumption based on i wonder? this video would suggest otherwise to me. maybe those people mean that in relation to his lyrical prowess but still to say hes a poor musician is erroneous to say the least. Perhaps we shall point them in the direction of this and other vids like it

  • @aurorairelandis I have heard this lame argument too, that Bruce is not a good musician. WTF?? I don't know what type of envy trip these folks are on who spew such nonsense. But here's my take-- Even though these people bother me if I allow them to rent space in my head, it's similar to arguing politics or religion with someone who has their mind closed to other views. Let's not waste our time and energy defending the greatness of one Bruce Springsteen. His work speaks for itself. Enjoy!!

  • Bruce&the E-street band paid their dues and made their bones in this period , I absolutely hated them at the time...with age I have come to respect and love the music as it did reflect My time and place

  • Busterbone, what are you talking about, this has and never will be a "nearly forgotten Springsteen song"

  • @racpeople maybe he's talking about the live version of the song? which is great! THE BOSS!

  • semplicemente devastanti, da questo video si capisce perchè lo chiamano the boss! grande, grande, grande!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Promise me this....dont ever, ever, EVER remove this video.

  • The bootleg from this show (Capitol Theater 9/19/78) is called "Piece de Resistance" and was available for some time (where bootlegs could be found). I picked up a copy of "Piece de Resistance" in Merrillville, IN in September 1984 and listened to it in awe. I have seen Springsteen 4 times starting from Born in the USA tour. The Capitol Theater show is my favorite show of all. I have between 100 and 150 shows from several tours on tape and the shows from the Darkness tour remain my favorite.

  • I was 17 when this came out. This tour in 78 was just downright kick ass. He just bleeds through those strings. Pure power!. AMAZING PERFORMANCE! Top 10 all time, Has to be. In my top five maybe higher.

  • @LesSmith45 Yeah, maybe higher!

  • Jesus! This is .... words can't describe this version! The first 4 minutes just ... I've been a fan since The River when I was 12 years old but I think I am a new fan because of this version of "Prove It All Night" and "Because The Night" from the same concert. Thank you for the post!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was at one of the Capitol shows - definitely Sept. '78, a couple of years before Born in the U.S.A. was released. THE most intense show of the most intense period of his career.

  • come walts wiz me senorita a nite like dis OHcuz only fools are alone an

  • come walts wiz me senorita cuz only fools are alone an a nite like dis OH

  • This performance sent a chill up my spine!! SMOKIN!!!

  • Excuse me, while I pick my jaw up off the floor

  • This song really comes to life and grows spectacularly when it's performed live!!

  • Things just took very epic proportions.

No single artist today can resemble Bruce.

What are Lady Gaga, Bieber or whatever pop idol from these times compared to the true legends of those times? Next to nothing.

I'm 22 years old and I've seen Bruce in concert for 5 times already, starting when I was 8.

  • @Udrennaline True story

  • 18 people are trying to prove the wrong thing to the wrong people!

  • BROce Springston could prove it in his sleep. True legends transcend time.

  • both of my ears wanted a cigarette after this...

  • The DEFINITIVE rock star. Of all the segments that make up the pie chart of the arts, this man in my humble opinion is the greatest entertainer of them all. Of all the movies, sports events, concerts etc i have seen the past 30 years, a spingsteen show comes 1st, then comes a yawning casm, then the rest. Thanx Bruce.

  • @mewzikmaestro i cannot agree more!! I true ledgend!

  • that is because these are the 19 miserable losers who were in their rooms after dinner, lost on the fact that something like this even existed, I included the moron Glenn Beck as person number 19, because we all known he has Never experienced something like this. Just to bed now son big day tomorrow.
