  • flying machines in p...err... coming safely to the earth

  • According to an urban legend, "Fire and Rain" deals with a girlfriend of Taylor's who died in a plane crash. In actuality, the "Suzanne" of the song was actually an acquaintance of Taylor's who committed suicide. The rest of "Fire and Rain" focuses on Taylor's efforts to kick his heroin addiction. "Won't you look down upon me, Jesus/You've got to help me make a stand/You've just got to see me through another day/My body's aching and my time is at hand/And I won't make it any other way . . ."

  • I'm here because of the book "If I Stay"......

  • I absolutely love this song. Brings back many wonderful memories. Thanks for posting!!

  • This song was in Remember the Titans. It was in a pivotal moment in the movie where the football team had just won their big playoff game and then there was a sequence of events showing what the main characters were going thru, some bittersweet moments some of celebration.....then the team captain, was involved in a car crash that paralyzed him. if you've seen this movie you know exactly what i am referring to. also, at the time i was sick with cancer and this song just brings back memories

  • I love this song and all classic rock and I am 16. Eagles, america, boston, the lot. Dont understand the rest of my generation. I want a classic camaro and I want to go on a road trip to california. My one wish is to be born in the 60s. I really hate the 2000s...

  • I first heared this song in the car with my father. And the 1st line made me think of my mother, i'm pretty sure it makes my dad think of my mom too. 9 years ago on April 28th, 2002 she passed away. Each time I listen to this song it makes me think about her.

I may not remember you mom, but I know your watching over us.

    May you rest in peace.......

  • @poyp777 justin bieber is marketed towards adolescent kids you retard. do you bitch about britney spears and raffi for their lack of musical depth too? no. just ignore him instead of latching onto a gay dead annoying internet meme

  • For crying out loud, if one more person refers to the "B" word when commenting on CLASSIC music like this I think I might have to do great bodily harm to them!!! STOP saying his freaking name & maybe he will go away with his $1,000,000.00's!!!

  • This makes me think of running on empty. Which makes me wanna cry. Beautiful song, beautiful movie. No one I know knows either. Sigh.

  • Honestly guys, who cares about JB just listen to the song :) Maybe we cold all use our time and discuss how great of a song this is?

  • @shawnyk1000 Justin Bieber is a fucking fag, James Taylor is a legend. Never compare a legend with a little boy who's balls havent dropped.

  • I heard this song earlier today and I just love it. Had to hear it again on YouTube. Why can't today's music be like this...

  • What is the story behind this song? Does anyone know?

  • @kaydsful its about the suicide of his friend

  • @asearles9 Thats kinda mean dude

  • @Datkylekid How so?

  • @asearles9 Because lots of people lost people close to them no reason to call them butt hurt haha

  • Why must people do our wonderful classic rockers such a disservice as to consistently compare them to this still-wet-behind-the-ears child?

  • This was the first song my grandfather taught me...RIP GRANDPA ....i'll see you again this side or the other

  • good job on this song! i just lost my mother a few days ago & this song expresses my feelings in almost a pleasant way! keep it up! (:

  • ok i dont mean to be rude but can you stop talking about losing your parents like i havnt lost mine yet but i know they will be gone just like that so stop it makes me sad

  • Who the hell dislikes this song? If you even don't like this type of music you shouldn't look it up. so stupid.

  • Wow, former president James Taylor.

  • @NekoAlias sorry your dad died. I couldn't imagine losing my father. Very thankful. Hope you're doing alright.

  • Best song out there by far... R.I.P. mum 6/4/2011

  • this song brings tears to my eyes :')

  • im gunna kick some ones ass if this is not playing at my funeral

  • This is one of my favorite songs. It took me many times of watching one of my favorite movies, Remember the Titans, before I realized this song was in it.

  • @NekoAlias Sorry about your loss. This song reminds me of mine, he just passed away this year, too.

I'm sure they're throwing one hell of a party for your old man!

  • @Yeahyeah2829 yeah, and Bieber has no talent, Taylor has! :D x

  • I was born In 1967. This song means something to me. I felt like giving up many times. Yet I am 44 year sold and still around. People thought that I would have been dead a 30.Lol! I fooled them.

  • im 15 years old this song is amazing no one else my age gets it

  • My bodys achin n my time is at hand lol how cool?

  • The best song about Heroin and being an addict ever written

  • this song always makes me think of my best friend Deborah Sammons who was murdered on Oct 26 1995. I miss you each and everyday

  • I've always thought it's so amazing how someone's able to take their suffering and sadness and turn it into something beautiful like this. Most people just wallow in their misery but some are able to transform into something absolutely amazing.

  • an absolute great song

  • I looked this song up because I went for a ride earlier. I didnt know where I was gonna go but I just went. real talk...... sound familiar?

  • REMEMBER THE TITANS

  • this song reminds me of my nana she loved james taylor and that's how I know these songs

love and miss you nana rip

  • @maygirlygirlz I called my grandma nana too. I'm 20 and she passed away from a stroke when I was like 8. Miss her a lot! Love and miss you Nana!

  • @WOAH00000

You should drink bleach and so should anyone that gave you a thumbs up. I'm sick of that faggot's name being in the top comments to every damn youtube video out there.

  • @WOAH00000 Congrats join the other tens of thousands of teens that enjoy better music.

  • @WOAH00000 trust me ... a lot of people hate bieber's music....and today's music.

  • @WOAH00000 well done, you hate bieber, aren't you clever? Why would you even bring him up here? Did you want to earn cool points? Well you didn't and neither did any of the ten incorrigible douchebags who liked your stupid asinine comment.

  • @lladsbid just so you know she was making a point, most people her age are in love with pop and nothing lyrics, but she knows what good music is. So thank you for looking like an ass, you just made my fricken day.

  • @SassySuperGirl thankyou for cutting me down to size with your brilliant analysis and razor sharp wit, but I fail to see why every teenager with decent taste feels the need to prove their credentials as someone with good taste by saying they hate Justin bieber. You know what, everyone hates Justin Bieber! Hating justin bieber isn't cool or hip, its just what people with good taste do so don't fucking bring him up at every turn and don't clap with approval whenever people do.

  • @WOAH00000 Oh, and well done on liking James Taylor at such a young age. seriously, keep it up, just don't use Justin Bieber to prove how cool you are, its unnecessary. Sorry if my earlier comment was a little harsh, I'd just come off of about four other videos where he was brought up for no good reason and the irritation overcame me.

  • @lladsbid Love this.

  • Song makes me a little teary. I reminds me of my dog. When I left for camp at the beginning of the summer, I thought I would see him again, then he died, Suxx

  • 3,192 people have good taste

  • im 18 and have listened to james taylor for as long as i can remember. im glad my parents enstilled in me a good taste in music like this from a young age, not many people appreciate real music anymore

  • "I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I'd thought would never end. I've seen lonely times where I could not find a friend. But I always thought I would see you again." Curtis... I will miss you truly. You gave up too early. But you will always be near me.

  • 52 people have never seen fire and rain, sunny days that they thought would never end, and lonely times when they couldn't find a friend.

  • Classically beautiful!

  • if you didnt know James Taylor actually wrote this while he was in an insane asylum .

  • @Turboman220 I think it's more about time that he spent in insane asylums, the song wasn't necessarily written in one.

  • This song reminds me of the stories in Richard Ford novels.

  • Uuuugh! Gets me all teary eyed everytime I hear this song. Lovely!!!

  • I was introduced to these kind of classic music such as James Taylor at really young age also. I am teenager in Highschool and I am proud to say that I LOVE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC. IN UR FACE RAP CRAP POP Shit.

  • this songreminds me of the movie remember the titans-good movie(:

  • This reminds me of summer past when I was just a little kid. My dad would put this James Taylor album on, we'd have some friends over to swim, cook ribs on the grill, fireworks on the driveway. I can to know and love JT. The past couple years have been difficult for my family and we haven't had those summer night parties for a long time. For Christmas this past year, we gave my dad and mom tickets to one of the concerts. They literally had tears in their eyes. Thank you James.

  • @joley74 And you sir, are something I would scrape off the bottom of my shoe.

  • @utherpndrgn8 and you we all would just throw ur shoes away piss off

  • @yayagranny @utherpndrgn8 Really people? Trolling on such a beautiful song? That is just sad... you both should be ashamed of your selves.

  • @joley74 you just plain suck dumbass

  • So good to see James Taylor's contribution today at the 9/11 Memorial!!

  • 9/11

  • how the hell can you dislike this

  • This is one of those songs that can take you from tears about 30 seconds in, to having a huge smile on your face by the end of the song.

  • 1969-recorded, 1970-released...it's a shame that this is the only James Taylor song still playing on the radio often today, when it launched a great career for him.

  • RUNNING ON EMPTY (1988)!!!

  • i seen the lyrics to this song on a gravestone in a cemetery in dublin ireland. the girl buried there was a girl called suzanne and she died age 27 back in 1987 i never knew her but that has stayed with me since seeing that on her headstone it was probarbly put there by her mother and father.

  • @1860george how beautiful.....

  • @yayagranny thanks its stuck in my mind since the 90s
