this is just so uplifting. in this cynical world, this takes me back to a simpler, happier time WAY before cell phones when you called people at home on a rotary dial and actually wrote letters by hand. too bad it cuts off at the end though. but good harmonies these guys have! thanks for posting!

Big Chief was the best, J.D. was the deepest. Hardly anyone compares with the Statesmen, especially the old Statesmen: Jake, Hovie, Big Chief, Doy, and Denver.

His nickname was Mr. Smooth (if memory serves). AND, he was arguably one of the most accomplished, musically. He arranged, played keyboards AND had an incredible vocal range. Oh, and a very wicked sense of humor. (And here I mean the 'good' wicked. :)
