We can learn many things from Switzerland. According to the Heritage Foundation the Swiss rank third in the world with regards to economic freedom. The United States is 6th. Has Switzerland ever been attacked by the big bad Arabs in recent history? The Swiss were able to survive two world wars without any intervention. This country has the most sound economy in Europe. Maybe we should learn a thing or two from the Swiss on not to get involved in foreign entaglements.

I think we are in agreement here. The problem with US foreign policy is that it is dominated by defense contractors promoting their interests. Not the interests of USA and certainly not the interests of other countries. This will come to an end soon because they have all but bancrupted our country.
I agree with Buchanon for the most part, we do need to scale down our bases around the world, but not all of them. My dad is retired Army, and we go traveling a lot, especially to Germany where there are several of bases. I have found through comments by soldiers there that the bases make transportation of equipment and supplies going toward the Middle East much easier. With this said, there definitely should be a scale down in the amount of bases, but not all.

Well, you and I hve have a disagreement on that one. We have 1 million dead Iraqi's there that died for nothing. They died for something they had no involvment in. I think the United States has done enough damage in the Middle East and it is time to come home. It is time to leave these people alone and let them sort out their own mess. The only thing our troops are obligated to is defending the Constitution and our nation. Being in the business of occupying nations is not American.

I should have made myself more clear. I agree with what you have said, but International politics has interfered with our ability to simply pull out because it is the proper or appropriate action.
My intended point was that the United States has created this tangled mess by continually 'safeguarding' nations which should have been avoided in the first place.
Switzerland, having avoided this dilemma, is free to do more or less as it pleases, without getting the 'Evil Eye' from other nations.

I think we are in agreement here. The problem with US foreign policy is that it is dominated by defense contractors promoting their interests. Not the interests of USA and certainly not the interests of other countries. This will come to an end soon because they have all but bancrupted our country.

I agree with Buchanon for the most part, we do need to scale down our bases around the world, but not all of them. My dad is retired Army, and we go traveling a lot, especially to Germany where there are several of bases. I have found through comments by soldiers there that the bases make transportation of equipment and supplies going toward the Middle East much easier. With this said, there definitely should be a scale down in the amount of bases, but not all.
