Small efforts to reduce methane, soot could have big effect
.
Carbon dioxide may be public enemy number one in the fight against global warming. But taking aim at methane and soot has a better chance of keeping the planet cooler in the short run, a new study finds.
Blah, blah, blah, CAGW bed wetters know your idiotic theory is dead. No warming since 1998, PERIOD! At least stop THAT silly "debate". CAGW is dead.Get used to it. Man has emitted the most man-made CO2 in human history this decade and the line didn't go up.Your theory is busted. Got it, yet? Dead. Temps will continue to fall as solar cycle 24 plays out. Now the next enviro-wacko movement is ocean acidification (busted) followed by perhaps man-made global cooling from particulates. LOL!!
In 2001 as doing a Ph.D. into global warming: which got stopped when I said global warming was PR fiction from nuclear power. The world started cooling 1998-for teen years ago!
Turning your heating up this winter will not only keep you warm it will also IMPROVE the global climate by increasing CO2 emissions which help the greenhouse effect that we depend on for CALM weather (ya know, just like in a greenhouse!) & it will also help third world countries & farmers all over the world to grow their crops which people DEPEND ON TO LIVE!!!! PLEASE SPREAD THIS URGENT MESSAGE!!!!
@Nightversionn There is no single piece of real evidence that points to CO2 affecting one life let alone millions unless of course you can provide some evidence,which you can't.
The bottom line of this is that global warming ended in 1998.
AP-An international team of scientists says it has figured out how to slow global warming: Stop focusing so much on carbon dioxide. They say the key is to reduce emissions of two powerful and fast-acting causes of global warming — methane and soot.
Two dozen scientists from around the world ran computer models of 400 different existing pollution control measures and came up with 14 methods that attack methane and soot.
@RandomVersion Methane is only 1.7 ppm compared to GHGs H2O 25,000ppm, and CO2 390ppm and here is the kicker, for the past 25 years, CH4 levels have been DROPPING!!!! Get a life you CAGW bed wetter. CAGW is a dead theory. Stop just making stuff up and trying to pass it off as science. You CAGW bed wetters have actually destroyed legitimate environmentalism with your lies and now true environmentalism has lost ALL credibility. Nice going you bed wetters.

The decline in tuna catch worldwide for the last three years is attributed to climate change and other environmental factors, a Filipino official said Monday.
"For small changes in climate associated with tenths of a degree, there is no need for any external cause. The earth is never exactly in equilibrium. The motions of the massive oceans where heat is moved between deep layers and the surface provides variability on time scales from years to centuries. Recent work (Tsonis et al, 2007), suggests that this variability is enough to account for all climate change since the 19th Century."

@dingbat1-- Your insipid and stupid argument that H20's GHG effect is "rained out" is as hilarious as it is vacuous. Water evaporation/precipitation is 24/7/365 process between the hydrosphere/atmosphere/biosphere/lithosphere. This in no way mitigates the fact that H2O's GHG is massively larger than CO2's paltry 390ppm. The AVERAGE (you really have a problem averages, don't you) H2O atmospheric level is 25,000 ppm vs. man-mad atmospheric CO2 at around 22ppm. What a joke.

@dingbat1 You lying piece of dog excrement. The delta C13 permil value IS -8.2 at Mauna Loa as I stated. Given the seasonal harmonics of the delta C13 permil value (-8.1 to -8.45), you simply used the lowest value of 2010 instead of using the spline function to get a value for the year. You're the worst type of scumbag there is. You're a liar and anything you say cannot be trusted. Jerk.
I see you feel the need to present me as a liar given the poor relationship with reality I've revealed in your comments.
I looked at the graph and guestimated values. More accurately Mauna Loa surface (Flask Samples) using the spline as you prefer: -7.9 in 1996, -8.35 in 2011, change - a drop of 0.45 in the last 15 years. I previously implied a 0.5 drop.
I don't lie. Bottom line - the C12/C13 ratio keeps falling.
@Dosbat1 LOL! Rather than apologize for lying, you lie about your lying. You knew what you did was dishonest. You know that averages or means are used in science for values with large annual harmonics but you just lied like all CAGW hoaxers do for "The Cause". You have ZERO credibility and yes, you are a liar. You're pathetic.
My guesstimate was 0.5, using the splines (as you prefer) it was 0.45.
I have nothing to apologise for. I did not lie.
Your aggression and foul language speaks volumes for your cause. So I won't demand an apology. Keep up the good work.
Fact - water vapour precipitates out, so it cannot sustain a warming trend. CO2 doesn't so, amplified by water vapour, it can sustain a trend. I know you have problems with reality but that is a basic physical fact.
@Dosbat1 You lying scumbag. You took the lowest permil value of the year and called that the average, you twit. The C12/13 permil value is -8.1 and all your inane excuses of eyeballing graphs and coming up with some made up permil value is BS. Science has strict protocols of determining ONE yearly value for widely fluctuating data points. If you can show me ONE peer-reviewed paper that states the 2011 permil value is 8.45, I'll shut up, but since that's impossible, shut your lying pie hole.
Once again - My guesstimate was 0.5, using the splines (as you prefer) the figure was 0.45. That's a 0.05 diference. So I have nothing to apologise for and I did not lie.
I don't believe you're really angry about this. You're just trying to deflect attention from are all the times I've shown you wrong. Were I still a Conservative and a sceptic I'd find you embarrassing.
@Dosbat1 Once again, science is about facts, not about some made up "guesstimate" you came up with eyeballing some damn chart and taking the LOWEST value in order to distort the facts. I'm still waiting for the nonexistent peer-reviewed paper stating the delta C12/13 permil 2010/11 YEARLY average value is -8.45 or -8.5. You were wrong, I was correct and you won't admit it because you're an arrogant lib prick that has absolutely no idea of the science he's cutting and pasting or contriving.
@Dingbat1 You're easily fooled aren't you. RT is a bunch of crap. If CO2 is in the Aquaspphere or lithosphere, it's not in the atmosphere now is it. If its not in the atmosphere, then its's not acting as a GHG buffer is it. Regarding the "acidifification" (LOL) of the oceans, the oceans' pH is still around 8.0 which is alkaline, fool.

@dingbat1 I'm glad you brought up C12/13 isotopes. The atmospheric C12/13 permil value is -8.2 proving the total amount of man made CO2 is only about 5.7% or only about 22ppm out of 390ppm. Moreover, you must this paltry 22ppm vs. the overwhelmingly dominant GHG H2O, which is 25,000 ppm. How can an intelligent person possibly believe in CAGW.. Answer: you can't. Climate is primarily determined by the sun, you dolt. Don't even mention CO2 positive feedbacks as they're insignificant.
How many times must you be shown to be wrong before you spot the pattern?
ESRL Global Monitoring Division: Mauna Loa, CO2[C12/C13] has dropped from -8.0 to -8.5 per mil in the last 15 years.
Water vapour condenses out of the atmosphere, so it cannot sustain increases in temperature. CO2 does not condense out of the atmosphere with cooling. Remove the CO2 and the planet cools to a 'snowball earth' Lacis et al 2010.
@dingbat1 you are so lame. It's the idiot CAGW HOAXERS that are guilty of incoherent logic: if it rains- AGW, if there's drought-AGW, if there is record snow-AGW, no snow AGW, warmer seas- AGW, if it's cold-AGW. A recent peer reviewed paper by Prof. Solheim of Oslo U. predicts average yrly temps will drop 3.5 C, and winter temps will drop 6 C in Northern Norway over the next 10 yrs due to a shift in the solar cycle. Hopefully the 200 scoundrels that destroyed and manipulated data to perpetuate the CAGW hoax will be exiled to northern Norway to atone for their crimes against humanity.
We're back to the balloons and static electricity. Arguments often get circular when dealing with stupids.
You can stick a balloon to the wall by rubbing it on your jumper, this doesn't mean gravity has stopped working. Static electricity overcomes gravity.
Likewise solar changes might overcome GW. But given that the warming in the Arctic is accelerating during a record low solar minima a cooling is unlikely.
This is high school biology: plants convert all the extra carbon dioxide into new life on earth, excrete ink the surplus oxygen. So we get new plants and animals. Only see more carbon dioxide is a blessing humanity has ever done for life on earth. No climate affect possible: that was Allies from nuclear power and the mentally retorted or paid
I had an IQ of 149 to 18. I did a master's degree in engineering. Even I know that plants metabolise carbon dioxide. So photosynthesis controls the level of carbon dioxide in the air, not manned. He can do is increase life on earth. Harvard University has confirmed this is true and. And yes I do talk to Harvard
I work in engineering and from your comments here I'd be surprised if you have even one 'O-level', you certainly haven't got a masters in Engineering.
You're also lying about Harvard and CO2, they've shown nothing of the sort. The CO2 increase is due to humans; land CO2 uptake is increasing, the oceans are acidifying due to CO2 uptake - so the increase in CO2 can't be coming from natural sources, then there's the decrease in C12/C13 ratio and O2.
@dingbat1 LOL! ARGO, AMO, PDO, ENSO, ocean levels are all falling you clueless twit and yes, CO2 levels are still rising, which means to anyone with an IQ above 80 that CO2 is an inconsequential factor in natural global warming. Man-made CO2 only accounts for a paltry 20ppm of the minuscule 390ppm of atmospheric CO2. It's the sun cycles, stupid, which is the main driving force behind climate change and it's been changing for the past 4.5 billion years, you dope.
Humans are responsible for all of the CO2 increase.
Solar activity has been level between 1975 and 2007 yet temperatures have gone up. As Martin Wild shows solar radiation at ground level has fallen (due to pollution) while temperatures have gone up!
Solar activity and global temperature correlates well - until 1975 when the correlation falls as CO2 takes over.
Obviously you're too witless to use Google, that makes you double figure IQ range. If you could search google using 'CO2 increase' you'd find ample evidence that shows your wrong.
CO2 is increasing, the annual increase is 2ppm, this is due to human activity (mainly the burning of fossil fuels).
Clueless - no. I just don't follow your banal discussions in detail.
Clueless is thinking that because the ENSO and solar activity have caused a pause in the warming in recent years this means AGW has stopped. Just as clueless as thinking static electricity making a balloon stick to a wall means gravity isn't working.
Clueless is having to parrot the baseless assertion that AGW is a dead theory because you're bereft of evidence.
@Nightversionn Toronto is -4 C right now. You are such a pathetic liar. Your precioussss CAGW is so busted, you have to even lie about city temps. Get a life.

Its dense vegetation has long helped cool the planet by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. But mass tree deaths brought about by recent droughts and deforestation may be pushing the Amazon to a point at which it will give off more of the greenhouse gas than it absorbs.

Scientists say cut soot, methane to curb warming
AP-An international team of scientists says it has figured out how to slow global warming: Stop focusing so much on carbon dioxide. They say the key is to reduce emissions of two powerful and fast-acting causes of global warming — methane and soot.
Two dozen scientists from around the world ran computer models of 400 different existing pollution control measures and came up with 14 methods that attack methane and soot.

Jerk.
samuraiconservative 1 month ago
@samuraiconservative
Dosbat1 1 month ago
@Dosbat1 LOL! Rather than apologize for lying, you lie about your lying. You knew what you did was dishonest. You know that averages or means are used in science for values with large annual harmonics but you just lied like all CAGW hoaxers do for "The Cause". You have ZERO credibility and yes, you are a liar. You're pathetic.
samuraiconservative 1 month ago
@samuraiconservative
Dosbat1 1 month ago
@Dosbat1 You lying scumbag. You took the lowest permil value of the year and called that the average, you twit. The C12/13 permil value is -8.1 and all your inane excuses of eyeballing graphs and coming up with some made up permil value is BS. Science has strict protocols of determining ONE yearly value for widely fluctuating data points. If you can show me ONE peer-reviewed paper that states the 2011 permil value is 8.45, I'll shut up, but since that's impossible, shut your lying pie hole.
samuraiconservative 1 month ago
@samuraiconservative
Dosbat1 1 month ago

@samuraiconservative

@samuraiconservative,
"man made CO2 is only about 5.7% or only about 22ppm out of 390ppm"
Wrong. The only way to tackle this calculation is with a full carbon cycle model. C12/C13 partioning also occurs as the oceans absorb and emit CO2.
Land uptake of CO2 is increasing.
Ocean uptake of CO2 is increasing (the oceans are acidifying)
The atmospheric fraction of oxygen is decreasing.

@dingbat1 you are so lame. What kind of moron would even consider such BS. The fact is Nobody with a bit of common sense believes in CAGW anymore. Just wait until temps get colder and colder as the years pass. Just throw in the towel your cagw cult is finished.

Midwesterners brace for new Missouri River flooding

For flood-weary residents and sandbag crews in the Midwest, Sunday was largely a day of rest. Or, was it just the calm before the storm? To be sure, there were some efforts up and down the Missouri River on Sunday to protect towns, homes and rail lines against the arrival of floodwaters.

A recent peer reviewed paper by Prof. Solheim of Oslo U. predicts average yrly temps will drop 3.5 C, and winter temps will drop 6 C in Northern Norway over the next 10 yrs due to a shift in the solar cycle. If Solheim's research is true, CAGW wil FINALLY be conclusively proven to be the fraud it is within just a few years.

Dosbat1 1 month ago
the simple logic of global warming
temperatures will NOT get hotter, but more extreme
the ozone is used to insulate the earths heat so it's less hot during the day/summer and less cold during the night/winter.
W/O ozone, it will get more hot during summer months and more cold during winter months

JonThm 1 month ago
I preached plant2 18 months ago: plants metabolise all the available carbon dioxide from the air.
JonThm 1 month ago
I had an IQ of 149 to 18. I did a master's degree in engineering. Even I know that plants metabolise carbon dioxide. So photosynthesis controls the level of carbon dioxide in the air, not manned. He can do is increase life on earth. Harvard University has confirmed this is true and. And yes I do talk to Harvard
JonThm 1 month ago
@JonThm
Now you really are lying.
Dosbat1 1 month ago
@dingbat1 LOL! ARGO, AMO, PDO, ENSO, ocean levels are all falling you clueless twit and yes, CO2 levels are still rising, which means to anyone with an IQ above 80 that CO2 is an inconsequential factor in natural global warming. Man-made CO2 only accounts for a paltry 20ppm of the minuscule 390ppm of atmospheric CO2. It's the sun cycles, stupid, which is the main driving force behind climate change and it's been changing for the past 4.5 billion years, you dope.
samuraiconservative 1 month ago
@samuraiconservative
You not only fail, but you fail on every point.

Free carbon dioxide has been static for two centuries

@JonThm
Obviously you're too witless to use Google, that makes you double figure IQ range. If you could search google using 'CO2 increase' you'd find ample evidence that shows your wrong.
CO2 is increasing, the annual increase is 2ppm, this is due to human activity (mainly the burning of fossil fuels).

samuraiconservative 1 month ago
@samuraiconservative
