@1200sbeemer im new witht he harmonica. i already got the star spangled banner and im working on battle hymn of the republic. What are those zero's and the long lines? and are there any draw notes?

The o's mean blow, lines mean draw. I have never put music on paper. I tried to put the symbols above the numbers but it would not let me post for some reason.

Remember, learn the notes and the speed will come. the more you practice the better you will become. I'm still trying to master the thing. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll try to help with what I have learned, but the best way to learn is to practice, practice, practice. Greg

You will get it. Just have fun with it, take your time, breath. Once you get the hang of it and can play it with no problem then you can start adding your own feeling and sytle to it.

@1200sbeemer Hey i got it down now. I can play it normally. I just wish i had a bigger harmonica because i don't do the tongue thing and sometimes its annoying to blow in a single hole without accidently blowing in the other but its pretty much fine. A bigger harmonica would just be nice. I got my first harmonica from a music store and it was just 4 bucks. Some of the giant ones cost well over 200 dollars. Those things were the size of hunting knives and PSP's.

Great! I don't do the tongue thing. My dad uses his tongue to block holes. practice playing with just using your lips to make a small hole for the air to escape that way you will have a better chance of bending the notes when you have to.

I would suggest buying a Lee Oskar harp in the key of G. You will find it easier to play and very responsive. Major Diatonic, they run about 25 to 35 dollars. Keep practicing. The more you practice the better you will become.

No I don't. I'll try and get it for you, I never played that part. I play by ear so when I get it down, if I do I will write the tabs.

@1200sbeemer My harmonica is acting strange. The 7 hole is making weird weezing noises when i draw. Any idea whats wrong with it? I'd open and clean it but my screwdriver dosent have a big enough handle to put enough force on it.

Sounds like you may have a piece of trash stuck inside of the reed or is bent. What I do, which is not recommended, is fill a glass with warm water and add about a drop of dish soap and soak it for about 5 min, then rince under cold water under a low stream through the back side, shake well then put it above a lamp shade until it dries. If your harmonica has a wood comb it could make it swell. if the reed is bent throw it away or replace the reed if its a model you can replace.
