  • I didn't get what kind of pen you where you using

  • when you buy them is it like renting them or do you get to keep them afterwards?

  • I haven't been drawing for maybe more than 7-8 years and after watching your videos I kind of get the inspiration for drawing again, but as I'm finishing high school, it's kinda hard to go back to drawing as I don't have the time.

Nice videos, great skills, awesome school, I might consider it for studying there in Singapore. :)

  • Great, really been enjoying watching your video's. If I wasn't already working in this field I would definitely consider this course.

  • Jesus, you were that good 11 years ago?

  • Drawing level : Asian

  • @tobiastitus lol

  • @FZDSCHOOL

I cant find a place to buy all of these.

Though I have an Wacom bamboo and fun Medium, but I fint it hard to sketch in Photoshop.

    Any help? :(

  • @DiMAGiNEfilms practice with pen and paper

  • @DiMAGiNEfilms I know I'm gonna get a bunch of flack for this but my suggestion would be to go to an office supply store and buy the cheapest printer paper you can find. Then draw draw draw then draw some more. On average I spend less than 5 dollars for 500 sheets of white paper. Then spend roughtly ninety nine (.99) cents on the cheapest mechanical pencils I can get at either the dollar tree or the 99 cent store. Doing these drawings is for me and to work out technique.

  • @jasoncummings2000 All the best equipment in the world won't do much of anything for you if you haven't taken the time to make the connections between techniques BY ACTUALLY DOING/DRAWING. Unless you happen to know where to get those sketch books for way cheaper, usually they cost twice as much as a simple ream of computer (printer) paper and you get way less pages.

Later on when you have the experience to look past technique and can apply yourself on purpose, then buy the expensive stuff. :)

  • @jasoncummings2000 do you trash your reams of paper after or keep them?

  • Where could I get one of those mannequins ?

  • Is the program online? or would a person have to attend the school?

  • yay! european sizes! ^^

good to know I was on the right track before I went to digital! nice tip for folding the front page over for the gum strip sketchbook, will try that sometime.

  • when u say provide what students need does that mean when ur student grads they can take them all home? as in to own it?

  • @FZDSCHOOL Where can I purchase those Anatomy Sculptures that were on your desk? Thanks! Also, do you happen to know the name/brand of the "Presentation Sketchbooks"?

  • when you were a student learning about art, what do you normally draw?

  • Its "Media". "Mediums" are people who are said to communicate with the dead. Media, is the plural form of what materials used to create..

  • the elbow tip is super interesting, I was wondering though, do you keep your fingers anchored too? Or do you move the fingers freely with the elbow?

  • Seems very expensive.... maybe some day...

  • Age is not important if I would like to try joining full-time after I finish my current studies?

It's not like I'm anything too old, I would be somewhere around 26 yo at the time.

  • @Lengry

There is no age limit of applying to our programs. The average age of our students are 25 – 35. FZD School welcomes any aspiring designer regardless of their background. All we really look for in a potential student is the strong interest in design, drawing, and the motivation to succeed. At FZD, we have a “portfolio submission and review” for all applicants. In addition, an interview will be conducted by our staff as a part of the application process. Thank you!

  • @FZDSCHOOL thanks

  • Was there a follow-up video on marker rendering techniques? I'm a big fan of Feng's old work, have lots of markers from when years ago I was inspired by his former work, and would like to use his older styles to start. I contacted his office and the old site's tutorials are not available. I'd be very happy to see traditional marker rendering discussed.

  • This one was really good. I think you could have tell more about what to practice on not only straight lines and olypsis. But very useful video at all! Thanks! / Finndahl

  • Hes pretty cool.I like the art and his face. How do you draw arms in perspective and so on?Can you make a video on it?

  • @Yamato360

FZD students will own the Mac Book Pro 17" since the student is purchasing it. For more information, please visit our website: Admissions - Program Fees - Equipments - View Details

  • @SupremeCommander85

FZD students were provided with Dell 17" laptop in the past. However, we have changed it to Mac Book Pro 17". For more information, please visit our website: Admissions - Program Fees - Equipments - View Details

  • @thorington x2

  • i hear strathmroe sketchbooks are really good?

  • Does someone know where u can buy those small Human anatomy modells from 0.07 to 0.35? if so please link or a website where u can get one :)

  • @DoomFist94 I have some Kubert school stuff dude but this time I think I prefer a real school though I live and work in Japan, but come next year I'll be transferred in Singapore, that's why I was asking; well been to the site though I dont know if I have the time w/ my work and all.

  • @HologramDnB not exactly, they're more similar to the sakura micron pens. The main difference for me is that they have a different tip.

  • You have the same headphones as me! O.O

  • I seriously learnt more in these 16 minutes than the hole school year, many thanks :)

  • Wow im a freshman in highschool and i love to draw and this video gave great tips imma try to try like that for now on but is there any other advice any1 can give me on drawing a sketched because everytime i draw i find myself trying to make it look perfect

  • a good way to practice straight line is to take index cards and on the front with the blue is to draw over the blue line that way u can see just how straight it is and then on the back draw the ellipsies just something i do to practice lined paper works well too

  • sick laptop

  • Hi, I got a general question on the drawing technique. I saw that you are locking your elbow on the table while drawing. I pretty much use my hole arm, sliding my elbow on the table while drawing. As im still a beginner i'd want to know if it is more advisable to use that "locked elbow" method to build on?

I would appreciate any kind of suggestions!

  • Excelent Video Thanks Feng, your explanation is very clear, thanks again for your recomendations

    Saludos desde Costa Rica

Greeting from Costa Rica come any time !!!

  • wow the girl is really a cutie. I want to collaborate with her.

  • @mikezdiesel Im Singaporean and in Singapore most of the girls and women look like that. Really.

  • @insertcooluser Oh wow, I think God has blessed you guys with super beautiful women! :)

  • @mikezdiesel Amennn :) Come by here sometime and see for yourself bro

  • @insertcooluser

If you're serious, I must be blind or something, because I'm Singaporean too and most of the girls and women don't look like that. And most of the ladies of high standards already have boyfriends, because all guys are horny people who want to do it with pretty girls.

Sad fact of life. Ah well....if you've got money you can have a nice girlfriend. If you're poor no one wants to look at you. That's how things are and shall be, amen now and forever.

  • @wetyewruyrtsutrdhjfg Doesn't matter if one is a Caucasian =P

  • What is your tinted sketchbook called?

  • @Vaylemn He said that the book itself is important, not how fancy it is. This means ANY tinted sketchbook suffices. Go buy one :)

  • @RarityGuitar The problem is there are NO OTHER SKETCHBOOKS like the one he uses. I found out that the books is called Canson Wicker Oatmeal Scrapbook, which is made for photo albums, but people discover it to work really well with charcoal and pastel. I also read that book is also popular at where at the Art Center in California, I think. You won't find another sketchbook like this.

  • @Vaylemn But that isn't the point! Any tinted sketchbook will work, provided it won't tear apart from the moment you put your pencil on it.

It doesn't mean that if you have a Canson Wicker Oatmeal Scrapbook, you can draw.

(Not trying to argue here, just trying to convince those people that would look for a 100$ sketchbook that a 10$ sketchbook suffices.

  • Did you use pen or charcoal for your good tinted sketchbook?

  • thank you for taking the time to make these videos!!

  • Just want to say thanks Feng for making these videos. This one for me was very helpful as I'm new to drawing both traditional and digital. So I appreciate back to the basic tips like how to hold a pen and drawing from your elbow.

Long live the God Hand! Your an inspiration

  • What laptop is that?

  • Very helpful tips indeed. :)

  • Well, it would be great if you show more about drawing techniques like these in this video. This video and the video about Wacom are great. I'd like to see more about how to use the tablet properly. How to hold it, how not to hold it. Yeah, these things are personal but seeing how somebody proficient uses them helps alot.

It be also intersting to see more tips about how to start a painting, recommended resolutions, settings, brush sizes, tips about layers, how to learn to draw a circle, etc.

  • Amazing tips. Belive me or not after watching this I've immediately started drawing straight lines with my tablet. I've been into drawing and painting for years but I've never taken a drawing class except when I was a kid I've taken painting classes but nobody ever taught me that my hand has to be loose.

I wish you add more such beginner tips. Yeah, we can read about them in books but until seening them in action - they don't work that well.

  • Hey Feng!! I have a video request! Would you be able to paint an aerial battle and show us how you would work out the perspective of air crafts twisting in the air and the distant buildings on the ground? Love these videos sir!!

  • I feel like I'm a thief when I watch these!!!! I dont know if Feng is holding back on us or if he really is giving us top tips, but I mean, I feel like I should pay money along with my subscription!!! And the fact that he puts these up AND he has a school to run!!!

Thank you Feng!!!!! I hope to go to Singapore one day!!!!!

  • I love Pilot pens! They're part of the reason why I still love to use traditional media sometimes. Thank you for this intro video about traditional media (especially in light of concept design/concept art). Thank you for all these videos covering some of the basics and insights of concept art. I'm seriously looking into going to your school sometime in the future.

  • I've been looking through YouTube and nobody has tutorials like your they are really good and I've been wondering If you can do a realism tutorial because that where I'm a wondering how to do please and thank you

  • Wow, drawing with the elbow is a great tip! I immediately saw a difference in my drawings! I love these videos, they have been so helpful and interesting. Especially Feng, he is a fantastic and easy to understand educator. :D

  • @patdzon

FZD full-time students are provided with laptop, Wacom tablet, and software which is included as part of the program fee. These equipments belong to the students during and after the program.

  • @FZDSCHOOL wooow can you provide more information, I believe I can also use this skills for drawing my comics ^^

  • @FZDSCHOOL Can students use the equipments after lessons for homework?

  • @bowlda111

Yes, the students can use the equipments after lessons to do their homework..

  • @FZDSCHOOL Do you lent those mediums or give permanently, sorry for not understanding.?

  • its amazing that when you've got the skill (which you certainly do) you can pretty much make art in any media or format.. always great to watch your videos! thanks for helping us, please keep making them

  • you know some of your 'free' videos are more helpful than these massive black and gnomon dvds I got...

  • @herpderpastful0l thnks for the heads up lol

  • @InnovationalFilms Some of them are absolutely amazing, but then there are the ones that are ehhh or not good at all. Feng is probably one of the best at explaining things

  • @herpderpastful0l yea with art college n all, i cant afford dvds n such..my extra curricular studies are all in books, Feng's tutorials, other youtubers, internet etc., but im sure they're not bad, becuz theyve got a price

  • Another amazing video. I just had the time to see...Its nice to see you in person for a change...and i am very proud to say that those designs you showed in your big sketchbook were some of the earlier artworks i had seen of yours that inspired me to become a concept artist in early 2000's Thank you soo much for doing this master feng :)

  • So wait....You guys provide students with their own laptops?

  • @ StyleSessions Im pretty sure feng do this movies for the love, in arts and teaching/helping, he will not stop doin it for free. And yes thanks for all this help your providing Fend, paving new way for the future artists

  • You are now my fav designer!!!

  • Hey Feng great work, keep it up!

Can u upload some of your "traditional" sketches from those little sketchbooks?

    Thank you in advance.

  • How I miss the things one can do living the single life... Sigh.

  • she is so beautiful!!!

  • SHE'S BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • Feng, nicest artist in the web by far. He's too pro.

  • Thanks so much :) those arm techniques instantly helped!!

  • What if you already have the equipment?

  • Its cool to see Feng teaching people who are interesting on becoming and artist...It remembers me how many sketch's books I used and a lot memories of how I used to spent hours and hours at night...Hope you can keep up with the videos, I would love to see dynamic sketches of human anatomy...Looking forward to the next video.

  • Thanks a lot for the video!

I'm starting to play with concept art myself..

This videos are helping me a lot, and giving amazing directions!

Thanks for pro material for free! you're the man!

  • those sketchbooks are quite expensive O.O i buy ma sketchbook in $1 O.O

  • The thing that we actually don't know is that Feng who designed the dress! True story xD

  • This video is awesome! Probably because real life is slways better than digital life! Drawing on paper is another thing...no wacom will ever be better than that!

The girl is so beautiful that you will have hundreds of new students only to see her eyes to eyes! :-P

  • Thank you for all of these awesome tutorials, they have been extremely helpful, its very frustrating learning the many areas of design on my own, the design cinemas are a constant help, its really appreciated Feng, Thank you!

  • amazing guy!

  • You know what, I'm not even a design school student yet and I use Cintiq 21UX with Photoshop CS3, Painter X, Paint Tool SAI and Rhinoceros.

LOL quite amazing starting equipment. I also have a Intous 3 6x4.

well, still about 50 markers and 10 ball pen hundreds of pencils. and no rubber at all. XD

  • @seraphlio yea and a B5130M i7 620M 4G Nvidia GT425M optimus. LOL

Now, what I need is only practice and more work experience. XD

  • there is no way he can cover a year's worth of daily classes into few 15 mins video so stop saying he's cheating his students. He's also not the only teacher at that school. I don't know the cost of education in Singapore but you're getting a lot more for your money at FZD then many private schools in the states (not that they are bad, just more expensive) plus being a shorter intense program means owning a lot less and getting into the mix a lot quicker.

  • for sketch books i just buy a cheap pack of light cardstock at walmart, and bound them. there goes 250 pages for about 2-4$

  • Did someone find any of these Pilot hybrid pens ?

  • @F1RSTAIDD Just google Pilot Hi-Tec-C

  • thank you

  • shes cute

  • @MrKilltastic she is but she doesn't sound like she can properly pronounce words.

  • your office is really cool, awesome, and it is nice to see the voice that speaks back as good tutorials, you are very good people feng thank you very much for everything.

  • Thanks so much for all these great videos! :) :)

  • You are awesome. I just decided to get down my fundamentals by going back to traditional stuff, before diving into digital. This video is great!

  • feng put printers in a bad light

  • Wow, watching you draw on paper is mesmerizing. Quite beautiful.

This is very inspiring. Thank you again, Feng.

  • I love how you still use your headset microphone (:

Appreciate this so much. Amazing work by you.

We all love your videos (:

  • Feng your my hero :DDDDDDDD

  • Hey Feng

Just wanted to express my appreciation for the fact that you take time out of your days to make these videos. I'm definitely learning more than I could've imagined from them. Keep it up. Perhaps a video about choosing the correct color pallets for different environments?

  • oho phone numbers

  • wow, so many comments already! Thanks and glad you guys like these videos. Don't worry, I'll always keep these free.

About the information given here. Trust me, about 90% of the stuff we teach at the school are not here, and never will be. I'm showing you guys basic knowledge and certain skills, but not the deep understanding of them. Also, of course you can learn on your own, but without pressure, classmates, and teachers correcting you and answering questions, it'll be a lot harder.

  • Your office is amazing! <3

Thank you so much for making a video about traditional mediums, very helpful since that's pretty much the only thing I use.

  • i wont to see more Traditional art videos

    thanks for this tut

    it`s help me :)

  • He has stated that he doesnt teach many of the fundamentals, which are basic and without them you couldnt produce qulity artwork. If he teaches the same stuff i dont see a point of having a school, and having teachers assisting you with experience must be pretty invaluable. for us who cant assist to the school this videos are really outstanding, thanks for doing them feng

  • @kimkyunghee Thats a silly thing to say. These videos are posted once a week and are 30 minutes or less. Students get educated daily for weeks or even 2 years depending on the program. And for probably longer than 30 minutes in a day. AND one on one feedback from Feng and other educators. That's a lot more than watching youtube videos and probably worth every penny for the experience alone.

  • Hi feng I just want to thank you very much again for your valuable time and reaching out to everyone here who can't make it to your school. All your videos are so useful and appreciated all of us who are struggling to find great training materials find these videos priceless. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. A very big fan..... David Pearce.

  • Feng how long does it take for you to fill up one of those small sketch books? I wanna know at what rate you go through them.

    Thanks

  • waaaaah *_* your background wall <3

  • Great!

  • thanks that was really useful !

  • this is sooo helpfull, thx soo much feng.

I started to develop my first iOS 3D Shooter and I created all stuff directly in 3D, but its hard to keep the idea straight in my head....now I learn to draw that stuff, thx to you feng.....I want to make the courses in your school when my game is ready and I will have some money and I my drawing becomes better.....

    best regards from germany

  • Awesome Video's Dude

  • Awesome info AND Babes!! Cant go wrong with that. Feng you are the man!!

  • Ur right, Feng. I need to stop being nervous about my sketches, I'm gonna start drawing anything and everything and just go with it! Freedom! Woohoo!

  • wow, thats nice, very usefull :-)

  • Feng u doing the very very great job,,,,,,,love all of uer work,,,and the way u explain,,,surely when i get huge money will surely come to FZD,,,,,its like every artist must be sending lots of positive energy and good thought ,,wishes for u as everytime they see uer tutz,,,,Thanx,,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx ,Thanx

  • Lol it's weird how you paint a picture in your mind of how someone looks by the sound of their voice! Thanks so much for the videos

  • @AndyBonHelsing1 lol there's plenty of pictures of him on the website

  • @MrKilltastic Haha I didn't know that!

  • @AndyBonHelsing1 Lol I agee 150%

  • OK I'm almost scared to say how much I appreciate all these videos just in case he decides to stop making them free for us to view. I'm sure Im not the only person who feels this way.

However, I cant help myself. Thanks so much Feng, you are the man.
