  • jews are to blame for everything

  • i dont understand any words in this song and i am turkish... but i listen this thirty times in a row... i am a nationalist of turkiye but i dont hate greeks cause they do what have to do. but we have problems what depends real facts. we had their nations nearly 400 years and they dont like us what rivals in a same position... in cyprus all of us know what they do. but u have to know this we are similar. thanks for reading. regards..

  • I'm Greek, and I don't fully agree with you ...

Stop generalizing that every Greek and Turk have inter-mingled with one another for thousands of years! Many have and many have not due to religious beliefs and for other political reasons. Greeks, Turks, Armenians, Assyrians, and other minority tribes have lived together in harmony and respect, in the Asia Minor region, for hundreds of years based on good economic and regional reasons. It was the rise of the Young Turks that ended this all!

  • I'm Turkish. I want my greeks back. Who could do that? No one. Fuck all of idiot dead politicians!

  • I'm Turkish too. And I have same opinion like you. Turkish and Greek people have many things so closed. Our cultures are not so different. When I was living in Italy I had many Greek friends. It was a pleasure each of us.

  • My grand father was forced out of his land and migrated to Izmir in 1922. He was a Cretan from Hania. My great great grandma used to call me mi pale and later on mi palikaria. I am so called half infidel by Turkish standards of todays jargon anyway. due to I was born in Izmir. All I know as kingodysseas said this fucked that that fucked this so what.... get alone. thsi world is too short.

  • This music is from ANATOLIA but not from asia. They are different. China also in Asia. But Anatolia is culture Greek and Turk people.

  • omg this is so out of key off step and just plain weird it's incredible!!!

it's like she's barely managing to squeeze a breath out cos she's so depressed, and then she just goes blank and the guys next to her is screaming like he's trying to pass a painful turd, omg this is amazing!!!!

  • Simply Beautiful...

  • Greece rulez! Hello from Leucosia in Megàlè Hellas!

  • Do you know Esfriatos Demetriou?

  • I always loved this song but I didn't know the meaning. Thanks for english translation. The words didn't surprise me. I can feel them. The lyrics, very very strong, very beautiful.

  • my error!sorry so much!

  • i`d like to have thrown the dishes!Love to all you armenian people! great music, beautifull lyrics!

  • @bollywoodag Yes, I agree, another dish from my hand. This music is BLUES! Awesome! Only a simple riff, but SOOO much passion... I can't stop repeat this video... Raff

  • @PopaRaff actually this kind of music is rebetiko (not blues)

  • @ele143 I meant Blues as a extended definition of feeling, such as the Africans was deported in America, and through submission made the Blues, so the people from minor Asia made the Rembetiko. For me, all kinds of Music that comes from

hurt, is Blues. World is only one.

  • @PopaRaff Exactly. Also, the blues and rebetiko have a lot in common in terms of their repetitive structure.

  • @MsPepperminta I agree, blues is, positive meaned, repetitive like rembetiko. And like south-italian ethno music, which hisside is influenced by mediterranean folks

  • this is not armenian. it's greek music

  • People need to be civilized enough to understand that politicizing music isn't intelligent.

  • I am Turkish, I agree with you

    kingodysseas, peace.....

  • I'm greek.

my grandfather and great grandfather came from asia minor in 1922.

despite all the bullshit, turks and greeks are very similar. everybody in asia minor has been fucking each other for thousands of years. we are all essentially the same.

nationalism and propaganda has convinced us all otherwise.

but the truth remains. all our cultures have been deeply influenced by each other.

    one love. one people. peace.

  • δεν νομίζω αδελφέ ό,τι έχεις δίκιο...

  • @kingodysseas Someone has to show you some real literature. I would rather say that the opposition propaganda has taught you what you seem to have for granted. Is that why Turkish people and forces slaughtered and kicked into the sea your ancestors? Wake up.

Music-wise now, the entire song from this film is plain awesome.

  • @kingodysseas Let's not exagerate. We are not the same.We exchange things, but we are still different.peace.

  • @kingodysseas people like you give rempetiko and asia greek minors bad name

  • Greeks proved during history that they are brave and excelent soldiers. Turks themselves ove Constantinople the Russians, British and Frensh, who protected you from the Russians, who otherwise would have taken you over several times... who can be prouder than the precestors of the people who fought at Roupel, Pindos, Messologgi, Mani, Ellassona, Gaugamela, Thermopilae, Marathon...... You had the luck, to meet us in our weakest period, while you were at your strongest... thats it.

  • WE Greeks have a history of 200 years. WE Greeks should learn something from the ancient hellenic history and stop being slaves to flags and personas. WE Greeks suffered under the Ottoman empire and we now try to connect are present with our past. not an easy thing to do. Lovely song..

    Greetings from Turkey :o)

  • J'aime cette chanson! I like this song. It certainly makes you think here. I have always liked rempetika (though I'm not Greek - I'm a Franco-American). From the translation of the lyrics that the person provided, this could be used for any tragic event. World War 2, World War 1, la Grande Dérangement à 1755 (quand les Acadiens a été expulser par l'Anglais), etc.

  • Pour moi, words alone can't describe how beautiful and tragic that song is. It's more powerful than, say, the aria "Vesti la giubba" from the opera "Pagliacci". Very beautiful song.

  • rebetiko still sounds turkish to me - especially the way the moustached man in the beginning sang. i could say that the greeks and turks have influenced each other by music, architecture, cuisine and some other possible influence. the greeks have been living in turkey since the time of troy. some turks have greek ancestry anyway - only that their assimilation into turkish culture and embracing islam make them consider themselves turks.

  • That's funny. I think you may have it backwards. Turkish music sounds like Greek music to me. Why? Because I don't hear this kind of music in the tradition of the peoples in and around the Altays (where Turks came from), but I do hear this music, for instance, in more ancient forms of Greek music, like Byzantine music and in music of other peoples from Anatolia (pre-Turkish migration), like the Semitic peoples.

  • "the greeks have been living in turkey since the time of troy" .... HAHAHAHAHAHA...... Do I need to comment this??? HAHAHAHA

...It is as if you said that the Aborigenes have been always living in the Australian anglosaxon state... HAHAHAHA

  • @208, why HA HA HA, my friend, hadnt Greeks lived in Anatolia more than 5000 years ? and they left there in 1922 sept ?

Or what history have you mention?

  • mjay22 wrote: "the greeks have been living in turkey since the time of troy"

I wrote: "It is as if you said that the Aborigenes have been always living in the Australian anglosaxon state"

Guide for Dummies: it's wrong to say that the indigenous people were living in the state that the newcomers/invasors founded... 'cause that state simply didn't exist! Instead of giving a geographical definition (minor Asia), mjay22 used a national term (Turkey). Very common turkish propaganda. Got it now?

  • Ancient Greece during the time of Troy were divided into many city-states. The one thing that these city-states have in common are the Greek culture they practised.

  • That's right. The greek city-states shared the same culture. (Note that culture is not 'practised'. Don't mix things up with religion.)

Yet, I fail to see any connection of your post to the previous comments.

  • i didn't say that the greeks were indigenous to turkey, it was u that assumed it. i just said that greeks have been living in turkey for a long time. troy was a hellenised city, and for sure there had been greeks living there. in fact, turkey had been under the byzantine greeks before the ottoman empire and turkey were found.

  • mjay22

When you are refering to "Turkey under the Byzantine empire" for what era you are speaking exactly? Because Turks came in Asia minor before 1000 years. Before that age they were on the steppes of Asia.

Furthermore Turks were never under the Byzantine rule, as Seljucks in the beginning and as Ottomans later. They have managed to establish a state since their first arrival in Asia Minor before a 1000 years.

  • 2008G, i didn't say that the greeks were indigenous to turkey, it was u that assumed with your indications. i just said that greeks have been living in turkey for a long time. troy was a hellenised city, and for sure there would have been a number of greeks living there. in fact, turkey had been under the byzantine greeks before the ottoman empire and turkey were found.

  • When you refer to ancient times or even Byzantine times, you can't use the term 'Turkey' because Turkey didn't exist. The geographical term is 'Minor Asia' or at least you could say 'territories of present-day Turkey'.

Mixing up geographical & ethnological terms is a common tool of turkish propaganda to connect all ancient cultures of Anatolia with the turkish nation. The historical truth is that turkish tribes migrated to this area in 10th century AC, 2500 years AFTER Troy. Got it now?

  • oi stixoi tou Gatsou einai apisteftoi!!

  • I don't need any teachings from someone who has Kemal Ataturk wallpaper at his/her profile. Keep your ideas for yourself.

  • Please, this is about music 2008G. There's nothing wrong in having things in common with the Turks and we do have things in common with them. The people that watch and enjoy rebetiko and come here to comment are not the enemy.

  • I never said they are the enemy. I never said it's wrong to enjoy this music. I simply cannot accept the nonsense I read in here. Are Greek & Turkish the same language because they share 5-10% of common words? NO! Same for music, same for culture. End.
