The one thing i miss on this keyboard is breathcontroller input, other than that love it! Lot of value! even has release velocity. Poly aftertouch would have been nice too but you rarley end up actually using that anyways so.. I'm allright
how do i reset factory settings? ive played around weith some settings now i cant use the fucking thing. somehow ive assigned only one key. the rest dont play midi. my hypercopntrol works fine, i just cant play the keyboard.
@spector969 If it is screwed after the first day's usage you need to bring it back. It's on warranty. It's a known issue and they will honour the repair.
it will work with garage band, but for the price of this keyboard your going to want a better program, with more than 50 sounds, you should go for Reason 5, Cubase, protools,fl studio and this keyboard can use in any program

please help me. Im going to buy one of these, but what else do i need with it?? Do i need to install something cubase or pro tools. I am using a mac and have garageband? Will this keyboard work straight out of the box or will i need to buy software.
@invictorium You need at least 2 months to muddle through the manual as it is only a functional manual that explains what it is capable of, not how to use it per say. Very difficult to understand the 75 pages as there are no how to examples or operational start ups and set ups. My suggestion is to download the manual before buying and know what you're getting yourself into because M audios tutorials again only tell you what it does not how to do it which is very unclear. Good Luck
@timer372115 No. Doesn't work with Cubase 5/6. Hypercontrol component driver not yet released and the Beta versions published in the M-Audio Forum doesn't work.
Worst driver support ever! No working component driver for Cubase 5/6 released and the Beta is buggy since month (freezes Cubase).
"Sticky keys" problem (well known also at M-Audio) from the bad assembling in China... Read the M-Audio forum or other forums with topics about the Axiom Pro and you get the picture. I'm not happy with this buy :(
Can this be used in fl or only with software like protools i only want to use fl
also the 8 pads in the corner can you assign them to any drum, bass kick, hi hat or even song u want?
hypercontrol technology refers to the controlling of the knobs for vsti and programs on the software but will they work in fl as this is da only software i want 2 use or only 4 protools
Can you assign the keyboard to play any instrument that is in fl?
@snake786123 I dont know about the Axiom pro, i just got the regular Axiom 49 a few days ago and I'm new to it, but you can assign any sample to the pads like an mpc....and same with the keys....there is a plugin in FL called FPC that allows you to do this with the MPC and the AXIOM....so for you I would suggest skipping the pro version, that is IF its incompatible with the hyper control tech. Once again i dont know much but I use FL too, and the regular is all i need.
DON'T believe the hype. HyperControl works for a select few Daws. It use to work for ableton live which is a partner. Logic which is also in close to avid and reason which is a plugin not a daw. Windows 7 64 bit is poorly supported if at all. There is no hypercontrol which works for cubase 5. Look at all the pormos and you will see it is only protools. As far as i am concern it should be bundled with protools so others would not make the mistake to buy it. without hypercontrol it is basic.BWARE
If you have windows vista 64 bit and you want an M-audio keyboard then you'll have to get this. Not compatible with windows 7 yet. It works with Reason, Cubase, Logic, Pro tools M-Powered, M-Powered Essential, Pro Tools LE 7.4 and above, Pro-Tools HD, and Ableton Live. If you find a good deal it's low as $480 if you buy from M-Audio's website then it's $700 Musicians friends it's $560....btw that's the price of the 61 key. If you plan on getting a 49 then take $100 off. 25 key another $100 off
I have this and only use the usb .but it wont let me do any of the stuff he is doing other than use the keys and touch pads but i cant change the pads ..i have a midi do i have to use it ?? so i can use it to its full potential..
If you are using anything else that Protools i will tell you to stay off this product. Hypercontrol which most people by it for will not work in windows 7, 64 bit. In today memory intensive applications and huge libraries which any serious producer will stick to pass 32 bit technology. At his moment the thing is like any other midi controller. hypercontrol is problematic and m audio is not releasing drivers for over two years. Lots of people on m audio forums are saying they will return it
@Surgemeisterstube Probably never, as M-Audio is owned by Avid - the biggest douchebag company ever! They're just like Apple. They overprice everything and abandon their products when they put a newer one out.
There are not drivers for over two years after release for windows 7. This s**t is made for protools only. Hypercontrol holds promise but at the moment it is buggy. The bald guy on the promo must be bleeding inside for not telling the truth. This guy is a show man selling snake oil.
ok so i got the axiom 49 and its totally kick ass, i use it via usb, can i make it function better by using a midi cable to my mbox or should i just leave it?
it would be pointless to buy the pro version if you weren't going to use it for pro tools as the only thing that sets it apart from the regular axiom 49 are the pro tools capabilities. you could use this pro axiom with any daw but unless you used it with pro tools it would function the same as the regular axiom 49.
the product description says the hypercontrol feature maps automtically to other daws, not just pro tools. I saw that Ableton live was one. front end audio's video guy claims to have use it with reason 4 too. have you used this controller?
Lighten up. i wasnt being a smart ass. you were acting like an authority on the subject as though you have used this controller. If you have, i just wanted to know your experience with it because sometimes things aren't what they claim to be.
i have an axiom 49 and i really love it, what i want to know is if i can plug it into my interface(mbox 2) instead of usb and have it function the same way
Hey heads up! I actually got the new m-audio oxygen 61 v3 and I love this thing! Well built, sturdy, and has a nice blue casing. And the keys feel great!
ok. I'm seriously looking hard for a midi keyboard. 88 keys-61 lowest, weighted keys, preferably after touch..rotating modulation(if thats better IDK I like it). I run FL on my xps 430. What are the best, not too cheapy or weak though. Something I can really learn to love and can help me. THANKS A LOT!!!!!
@mikelsaint This Axiom pro 61 you can get for $500 and it has all the features you mentioned...the keys are semi weighted and feel very nice...I just got one! Your not going to get fully weighted keys under $800. THen if you want all those other features you looking at a $1500 peice of machinary.
can this work the same on cubase? can i still use the faders to control the mixer, etc.. on cubase? i will start selling firewood to buy this one if it will work on cubase.. :)
No, just trying to record my stuff anad make it sound as pro as i can. I play guitar and keyboard so my idea is to get an alesis io2, a condenser (that fits my budget) like behringer c3 and a controller that allows me to play midi keyboard, oxygen 49. As i don't have much economical power, i'll buy this stuff and later on i'll upgrade if i need to.
good question, back in the day ( about three years ago) when i used to be more active in music, i used vegas. but now i'm just trying out some software like reason, acid, sonar...which one would you recommend for recording? i'm all ears!!!
yeah i'd like one f those but right now it's impossible, here (Uruguay) are more expensive and I don't have much money. I guess i'll get the old oxygen 49, make my first experience and later on i'll see if it's worth to upgrade. Thanks
it's very -ok- as a midi controler- what more you need man. click and you are here secend click and you are there-heheh. many buttons knobs etc--it's realyyy cool and use-full and you can take it with you anywhere cause its little weigh
haha, hey man just a question: I was about to get an Oxygen 49 but i realized they discontinued it so i hesitated for a couple of weeks and now i see they released a new Oxygen series, the question is, do you think i should get the old one or should i wait till it hit stores? (i'm from south america so it might take some time)
well im not too familiar with oxygen products. but i will say this...the newer one would jus b an updated version of the 49, with MAYBE a couple differences...so y not get the 49? its cheaper for one! n for two, it might b the same one with a couple software updates! bcuz y would they discontinue it, just to start making them again? Think about that!
n maybe its just me, but i dont buy too many things electronic wise when they first come out bcuz nowadays there are too many recalls!! so i wait a couple months n let them work all the kinks out first!!..
for example, i have the axiom 25...the video on the axiom 49 is LAME! the only difference is the number of keys, (which makes NO difference!!) the 49 has fader control (which i can do from ANY program!) and the pointless numberpad! so y should i upgrade? get my drift?!?!?!
yeah, you got a point. The thing is that i've been waiting so long and just when i got the money and decided what items to buy, they discontinued it and so i don't know what to do. I could wait a bit and see how users reacted to it but i think i'll go with the good old 49. Thanks for your opinion man.
BTW i'm getting an Alesis io2, a Behringer (yes a behringer) C3 and the oxygen 49 to start recording, and my budget is done!
its a midi controller... it doesnt have sounds so its good for anything... it just control the software ....if u make techno its gonna be good for techno cuz u r the one making it not the keyboard
worth around 150€ or $175 dollars. the 25 key one should go for around 80 bucks, any more then that get yourself a PAD Kontrol and a Oxygen 1, way better then this piece of crap
U basically need Reason 3.0 or whatever version you want, it has more than enough sounds, everything u can imageine, just have to get the program and activate it, because the demo doesnt have it!
NO once you download the Reason program it will come with all the sounds if its the full version, of course if its the trial version only few sounds will be included.
I had an MPK 49...it has cool features, but the pads aren't great and the keys feel terrible. I sent it back. I tried all the different keyboards and midi controllers at guitar center; motif, roland, novation, axiom, nord...and the axiom has the best feeling keys. I'm not a fan of m-audio's quality control, but the Axiom is the best midi keyboard out in my opinion. The original Axiom with Enigma is a royal pain. I'm about to chunk mine for one with hyper control.
pretty much... if you want a good midi keyboard.. don't waste your money on this crap... knobs buttons pads and sliders are not worth the extra 200 + dollars.
When I made that comment I had just realized I didn't used the controls on my keyboard and I was more satisfied with the radium 49 when I had it. I don't like the keys on the axiom.. I don't have anything to recommend sorry. But thats what I get for ordering online.

yeah i'd like one f those but right now it's impossible, here (Uruguay) are more expensive and I don't have much money. I guess i'll get the old oxygen 49, make my first experience and later on i'll see if it's worth to upgrade. Thanks

MaghoxFr 2 years ago
He said. COMPLETE control of your Pro Tools environment.
GODZILLAMANASS 2 years ago
and i have to assume that you can't completly control it with an axiom?
MaghoxFr 2 years ago
NOTHING!!!!!!

haha, hey man just a question: I was about to get an Oxygen 49 but i realized they discontinued it so i hesitated for a couple of weeks and now i see they released a new Oxygen series, the question is, do you think i should get the old one or should i wait till it hit stores? (i'm from south america so it might take some time)
Thanks man
MaghoxFr 2 years ago
well im not too familiar with oxygen products. but i will say this...the newer one would jus b an updated version of the 49, with MAYBE a couple differences...so y not get the 49? its cheaper for one! n for two, it might b the same one with a couple software updates! bcuz y would they discontinue it, just to start making them again? Think about that!
00DoughBoi 2 years ago
n maybe its just me, but i dont buy too many things electronic wise when they first come out bcuz nowadays there are too many recalls!! so i wait a couple months n let them work all the kinks out first!!..
00DoughBoi 2 years ago
for example, i have the axiom 25...the video on the axiom 49 is LAME! the only difference is the number of keys, (which makes NO difference!!) the 49 has fader control (which i can do from ANY program!) and the pointless numberpad! so y should i upgrade? get my drift?!?!?!
00DoughBoi 2 years ago
yeah, you got a point.
MaghoxFr 2 years ago
no problem! good luck with everything! i look foward 2 seeing ur videos!!

It's only a MIDI controller... Using an Axiom or the cheapest MIDI controller would sound the same.
How much? It depends on the model: 25, 49, 61... But the cheapest one, the 25, about $200.
waynegacy666 2 years ago
its a midi controller... it doesnt have sounds so its good for anything... it just control the software ....if u make techno its gonna be good for techno cuz u r the one making it not the keyboard

Does this hypercontrol works for cubase 5? and other DAW's?
ciperlone 2 years ago 2
arrghh.. GIEF!
TranceWTF 2 years ago
So, I have a digi 003. This hypercontrol would be redundant for Pro Toos, it appears.

does Garage band work well with the axioms ?
zkagtrendy 2 years ago
not really since garageband doesn't have MIDI control mapping, I'd recommend upgrading to Logic Express/Pro
someonetookmynick 2 years ago
worth around 150€ or $175 dollars. the 25 key one should go for around 80 bucks, any more then that get yourself a PAD Kontrol and a Oxygen 1, way better then this piece of crap
CapnBooBoo 2 years ago
dude. im sorry but oxygens suck monkey balls. the ones ive seen dont even have a pitch bend. and im a pitch bending type of guy.
decay789 2 years ago
nvm i saw one with a pitch bender. but im almost posotive ive seen one without it.
decay789 2 years ago
can u use this without a Mac or pc?
jsut plug it into some speakers?? and into a plug??
zkagtrendy 2 years ago
No, It's basically a huge remote control (no sounds inside)
nivekecaster 2 years ago 2
Oh so u need the synth sounds from some program right, garage band or something, but can the axiom like mod the effects?
zkagtrendy 2 years ago
U basically need Reason 3.0 or whatever version you want, it has more than enough sounds, everything u can imageine, just have to get the program and activate it, because the demo doesnt have it!
KayferProductions 2 years ago
hey. @ that reason thing. lets say i download it. where do i get the sounds?? do i like download them or wat?
decay789 2 years ago
NO once you download the Reason program it will come with all the sounds if its the full version, of course if its the trial version only few sounds will be included.
KayferProductions 2 years ago
i could like update it tho right?
decay789 2 years ago
Yes, you can.
KayferProductions 2 years ago
yeah, I got to see it demoed first hand yesterday... it's AWESOME.
jcotterm 2 years ago
I had an MPK 49...it has cool features, but the pads aren't great and the keys feel terrible. I sent it back. I tried all the different keyboards and midi controllers at guitar center; motif, roland, novation, axiom, nord...and the axiom has the best feeling keys. I'm not a fan of m-audio's quality control, but the Axiom is the best midi keyboard out in my opinion. The original Axiom with Enigma is a royal pain. I'm about to chunk mine for one with hyper control.
SonicMelon 2 years ago
Does the Axiom 49 have a standard grand piano tone?
fukdatshit25 2 years ago
No. The Axiom series are MIDI Controllers only. Therefore they do not produce sounds on their own.
tommyj1112 2 years ago
Im still confused, what does the hypercontrol do besides saving you a trip to the mouse? is that it?
dcdossett65 2 years ago
pretty much... if you want a good midi keyboard.. don't waste your money on this crap... knobs buttons pads and sliders are not worth the extra 200 + dollars.
dudewarp 2 years ago
Is there anything you'd recommend?
MusicManOnCampus 2 years ago
When I made that comment I had just realized I didn't used the controls on my keyboard and I was more satisfied with the radium 49 when I had it. I don't like the keys on the axiom.. I don't have anything to recommend sorry. But thats what I get for ordering online.
dudewarp 2 years ago
which one is better to get this one or the mpk49.......help anybody thanks
