  • so let me get this right, the van theyre giving away is the one they used for their Colorado '88 tour?.... thats a Phish artifact right there!

  • it would be awesome to drive around the old Phish van

  • And there's not much from the 80s that I want to remember....

  • I prefer the farmhouse shows if only since there was such a sense of community there as well as a healthy habitat....

  • best phish years=1983-Present...even Coventry was better than most bands are live when they're at their greatest. My favs are probably 1990-97, Cypress, IT and all of Phish 3.0 so far! The boys are back in town, the boys are back, the boys are back!

  • @MarcoGreenberg oh, and LW in 98.

  • @MarcoGreenberg i mostly agree with you... except coventry is basically unlistenable.. i think acdc bag is the only salvageable piece of music from that whole concert.

  • i wish theyd come back to ithaca that place is filled with the greatest people hhaa

  • what venue is this?

  • @XRutherfordTheBraveX State Theater

  • Supposedly they stopped playing this because it sounded to much like a Dead song. I think it sounds like a Max Creek song personally or some other 80's jam band from the North East.

  • If happiness is the barometer, they were happy as hell from '91 to '95.

  • think 93-94 and 97 where their best years

  • OMG Page with hair!

  • love this

  • played 05-31-09!

  • 92-95 was the peak...All IMO of course..I still love these bastardos

  • 97?

  • Well here is how I break it down.

    The Amateur Years 83-90

    The Progression Years 90-96

    The Funky Years 97-98

The Epic Year of 1999 (Big Cypress anyone?)

    The 1st Hiatus 2000

    The Sloppy Years 2002-2004

    The 2nd Hiatus 2004-2009

AND PHISH 3.0 WON'T LET ANYONE DOWN I CAN'T PROMISE YOU THAT!

  • I would have to disagree with a lot of things you say here

    1. '99 wasn't that epic besides cypress

    2. 98 isn't anything like 97...97 is a year of its own that can't really be compared to anything else

    3. One of the highest points of Phish's career was '95 and arguably their greatest.

  • @Smickens very nice breakdown.. i couldnt have said it better myself... but they did have some sick shows that summer 2000!! it was a great tour! but yes after that it sorta went down hill... till now!!!

  • @Smickens How do you define the amateur years like that when You Enjoy Myself was finished before 88? Almost all of the composed/great songs to jam out (Antelope etc.), were written before 1990.

So your breakdown is complete shit.

    Progression Years? How about 83-x

  • they brought the superspace funk in 98 my fac. check out ventura 97-98 2 steller shows on the beach. there going to break this out at shoreline 1 of there favorite place's to play.

  • Honestly... everyone always has a different opinion on the best live years (or perhaps more accurately specific tours) but honestly... and who else agrees?.... the best of Phish comes when the band is happy. When I see Trey smiling, the groove comes much easier. I love the epic 94-95 years. Really love the porno-space of 97.... but 2000 onward.. (UNTIL 09' my friends) they just looked like they were going through the motions.... Who knows, maybe we have some more stellar years in the phuture? :)

  • i agree.. i think 92 is sick.. but your point of happieness is dead on.

  • Of course I was pumped when they busted this out at Nassau, but I hope they put this song back out to pasture.

  • well they havent' played it since. so you may be in good shape.

  • the best years wheer 96 98 iherad them play this at hampton in 03 this song rocks listen 2 the updated version maybe the play it again 6 7 there back

  • i like it all but i think my favorite live stuff was '97-'00 but really it's all sick

  • 92 - 95 was the peak

  • like, it could be true, like '97-'00 sometimes seems like they could be a little exhausted creatively, but i just like the feel better. space funk is the shit. one of my favorite shows is from '93 though so i dont really know. i love it all.

  • i can tell why they stopped playing this tune...

  • i love this song cause you rarely get page and mike together on eht vocals

  • 1991... and already the sickest band ever. We drove down from Geneseo, but back in our own car, "Toast" won by the way! Go to 4-20-91 U of R cafeteria show for additional Fishman banter about the car giveaway aftermath. This is pro-shot, any more to share from this awesome night will be savored

  • thats weird cuz i live in Ithaca....haha

  • Wow. I was at this show too! I'm shocked that someone was videotaping it. Somehow I remember exactly where I standing (near front on the left side). Nearly killed myself during YEM... Anyone have any other videos of this concert?

  • Nice to see this video! I was at this show at the State Theatre - a very fine time. They gave away their old touring car at this show (A brown Plymouth Voyager) as I recall because they upgraded to a new Plymouth Grand Voyager. Phish was moving up!

  • Funny, I posted this comment before I got to the end of the video. Later on, after the intermission, they threw the keys out into the audience, and the winner went up on stage to get the title. Fun show!
