This movie SUCKED ASS. It's such a fuckload of fucking garbage. It had no swag, NO SWAG TO BE HEARD OF.... AT ALL.. FUCKITFUCKITFUCKITFUCKITFUCKITFUCKIT. It made marines look like pussies. Besides that fact the movie wasn't very good (my opinion) how do you except to review a movie when you clearly sound as if you have never seen it at all. You just play clips from the movie as you read a pre-wrote review. That has no substance and you even sound like you don't even know what was written on the paper you were reading off. I hated this movie. Yeah, it may have been a War Movie but it was promoted like a Sci-Fi/Action movie, which I was prepared for. Not since Avatar have I been so disappointed. The only thing I like about this is that they, unlike Avatar, didn't take cheap shots at the military. I thought it was boring and the characters were so one dimensional you didn't even realize who was killed and who wasn't. You only knew Aaron Eckhardt survives the whole movie.

Coming from a Marine Corps family, I give this an 8. It depicted Marines very well and although the general public calls it "cheesy & cliche" it does a very good job portraying and exemplifying the Corps' core values. Honor, Courage, and Commitment. and militarily it was pretty accurate.
also If you're a Marine who is or has served with 2/5 this movie's about them.

@conn252 HA yeh i said that out loud at the end of the movie lol And just the fact that such an Advanced alien race cant seem to aim for shit but these marines all of a sudden after that in depth experiment on how to kill them, how easy it was for the marines all of a sudden. But it also felt like a dam army recruiting advert, much like TF2 was at times.
My only complaint with the movie was the story. The action was amazing but the story was so stupid. The aliens take out the entire U.S military in 24 hours but these 10 marines are able to take out this mother ship in 15 minutes. It's just silly. I loved the movie up until that point.

Peter the thing is i do not want movies like this to have plots, i want these movies to be erased from existence. I want more movies like "The Social Network' to be made, movies that have real emotionally driven situations, movies that curve away from the norm, and make me think. Things blowing up sells, that is the only reason why movies like this are made. Film as an art form, and acting as an art form, are both being killed by movies like this. I found the story pretty engaging as well I also thought the acting was pretty great and I actually cared about the characters and I definitely hope to see a sequel.
You couldn't have been more right. There might have been some boring moments, but when the action got heavy it really got heavy. And watching this movie made me want to join the marines even though I had already had thoughts about it. But I can't say that about many movies the only thing that made me want to do that is call of duty. And that's a damn game.

Saw it last night and its awesome!! Such a great movie! The effects were perfect and made it so much more real. This is more what it would be like if aliens invaded than ID4! Showing it from the perspective of the Marines, and the disconnection and confusion just made it so gripping. Yea it did have a bit of ID4 at the end "We're telling everyone else how to beat them" was a little cliche, but the whole thing came off very well!
the dummest line in the movie was "its ok i'm a vetenarian" yeah cus in a war against aliens you need vets as its basically the same as sticking ur hand up a cows arse ;)

This movie SUCKED ASS. It's such a fuckload of fucking garbage. It had no swag, NO SWAG TO BE HEARD OF.... AT ALL.. FUCKITFUCKITFUCKITFUCKITFUCKITFUCKIT. It made marines look like pussies. Besides that fact the movie wasn't very good (my opinion) how do you except to review a movie when you clearly sound as if you have never seen it at all. You just play clips from the movie as you read a pre-wrote review. That has no substance and you even sound like you don't even know what was written on the paper you were reading off. I hated this movie. Yeah, it may have been a War Movie but it was promoted like a Sci-Fi/Action movie, which I was prepared for. Not since Avatar have I been so disappointed. The only thing I like about this is that they, unlike Avatar, didn't take cheap shots at the military. I thought it was boring and the characters were so one dimensional you didn't even realize who was killed and who wasn't. You only knew Aaron Eckhardt survives the whole movie.

Excellent review. Especially the bit about critics bitching about the storyline.
Coming from a Marine Corps family, I give this an 8. It depicted Marines very well and although the general public calls it "cheesy & cliche" it does a very good job portraying and exemplifying the Corps' core values. Honor, Courage, and Commitment. and militarily it was pretty accurate.
also If you're a Marine who is or has served with 2/5 this movie's about them.

My only complaint with the movie was the story. The action was amazing but the story was so stupid. The aliens take out the entire U.S military in 24 hours but these 10 marines are able to take out this mother ship in 15 minutes. It's just silly. I loved the movie up until that point.

I gave it a 6. 1) The camera work was nauseating (sp?) did they really have to shake the camera so much when they were just standing there talking? 2) Why would the army send a squad in the middle of a war zone for "potential" civilian survivors? Ever hear of casulties of war? 3) Instead of going on foot, why didn't they just take the chopper? It got there to pick them up, no? 4) Why not follow the team whose orders are to find that big ship, and save that group along the way?blah

You couldn't have been more right. There might have been some boring moments, but when the action got heavy it really got heavy. And watching this movie made me want to join the marines even though I had already had thoughts about it. But I can't say that about many movies the only thing that made me want to do that is call of duty. And that's a damn game.

Saw it last night and its awesome!! Such a great movie! The effects were perfect and made it so much more real. This is more what it would be like if aliens invaded than ID4! Showing it from the perspective of the Marines, and the disconnection and confusion just made it so gripping. Yea it did have a bit of ID4 at the end "We're telling everyone else how to beat them" was a little cliche, but the whole thing came off very well!
