The soundtrack is better than the movie itself. It does have it's great moments (Especially Kanedas death) but overall, the movie isn't all that good. Watched it yesterday. I will say it's put together pretty well as far as tech and sci-fy space travel goes. But it's not all that good.6.5/10, at most 7/10

everyone says this movie turned into a slasher. It was ALWAYS a slasher sort of, just a very good one that was also a psychological thriller. Think about it. The whole movie they were foreshadowing Pinbacker. And the whole movie astronauts were dying gruesomely. Nothing really changed in the last half hour.

This is literally the worst trailer I have ever seen. I have seriously trouble believing Fox Searchlight would actually allow this to be posted on Youtube. Not only does it spoil the whole film, revealing that the whole crew dies, but it shows each death scene out of context (which doesn't even make it look that good). In fact each death, especially Kaneda's, is poignant, moving and DEFINITELY not the sort you'd see in a horror film...

You can't ignore the slasher aspect of this film. Sure, it's not what the movie is about per se... but there are certainly horror elements involved. That's why I love the movie so much. It defies any single genre of film... by including a little bit of EVERY genre. Absolutely brilliant movie and soundtrack.

I loved this movie, but I think this quick runthrough of all the deaths is probably the crudest way to sum up a beautifully constructed film, it doesn't do it justice. For those who haven't seen the film yet, the extended trailers are good, and so is the Mercury clip.

Actually, even though, to me, he died, you can take the ending to mean anything that you want, so I guess I really shouldn't really have told he definitely died because the beauty of cinema is that each person can take a different meaning of a film. I wasn't totally thrilled with the ending. I think it should have been a wide shot of the payload reigniting the sun, because how the hell was Capa able to survive the sun's rays? Other than the HIGHLY unrealistic ending, it was a fantastic film.

I liked the ending, I thought it was a nice touch to portray the explosion and his death in a calmer, optimistic light, even though it was an unrealistic end. The way interpreted it was that he may have died in the instant the payload went off, his perception was somehow altered in his experience near death.

All of that explosion probably happened within a second, but Cappa was able to experience it for a few moments because of this slow in time caused by all the energy.

Capas death gives an emotional touch to the movie. Everyone else died horribly, so Danny Boil had to give at least a bit of relief. Besides people say that just before you die time stop and you are stuck in a scene a split second before your death. The theory may be wrong, and this ending may be unrealistic but hey, they tried!
